Unit 8 How was your School Trip?
Analysis of the Unit
The Whole View of Unit 8
1.Language Goals:
1)Speaking:Talk about events in the past. Ss can talk about their own
opinions about "Where did they go?" and "How was the trip?"
2)Reading:Ss can master the key words and new phrases such as"
aquarium, souvenir, ice cream, seal, shark, hang out " and so on.
3)Writing:Ss can understand the passage and find out the specific
information (E.g.: How did class 9 go to the school trip? What did they
see?), and also, learn how to write letters.
4)Listening:Grasp the meaning of all the listening materials in the
textbook, circle what they've heard, fill in the blanks and repeat the major
part of the content.
5)Practicing: Ss should know how to do all the exercises in the textbook
and deal with different questions in class.
2.Affection objectives
Ss will be able to realize that there will a lot of happiness in life. Since they are still at school, they have to study hard and find happiness in their daily study life. At the same time, they need to have some outdoor activities to cultivate their cooperative skills and to enjoy their life. Moreover, let them believe that life is colorful.
Teaching Important and Difficult Points
1.Teaching important points
1)New words/New phrases/New sentence patterns/Grammar Focus.
2)Talk about events in the past with one's own words.
2.Difficult Points
1)The usage of past tense (How to change verbs into past verbs? How to
answer a question with past tense?)
2)How to write a letter or email properly and sincerely.
3)Improve Ss' speaking and reading ability.
4)Broaden Ss' view about travelling.
Class Schedule for the Unit: Five Class (45m/Per Class)
Part 1 (1a-2c:focusing on speaking and listening):
Lead-in; New words and new sentences patterns; How to talk about events in the past; Listening and understanding and repeating; Making small conversations; Review.
Part 2 (Grammar Focus-4: focusing on grammar and reading):
Lead-in (Review last class with listening and consolidate studying about things happened in the past); Grammar Teaching (grammar in this unit is based on unit 4's which we have learnt, so it's comparatively easy for the students.); Reading part ( read and then draw the timeline and answer my questions); Review.
Part 3 (1a-2c: focusing on knowledge consolidating ):
Lead-in (Making conversations); Review with further listening and varied exercises; Pair work; Review.
Part 4 (3a-4: focusing on Writing):
Lead-in; A further and deeper reading; Write a letter; Exchange the letter with desk mates; Read a model letter; Review.
Part 5 (self-check) :
Do some exercises to practice what we have learned, and have some class activities.
