保研英文面试常见问题及应答

1.自我介绍

I am supposed to get my undergraduate degree in the university of science and technology Beijing, majoring in materials. Mainly, my introduction shall cover three aspects.

First, when it comes to my study, it is through three years of hard work that I have built up a solid foundation of professional knowledge reflected not only by a decent ranking of first among 60peers, but also by the fact that I take an active part in various contests ranging from mathematical modeling to physics. And luckily, my efforts in preparations for them also lead to some academic honors and awards. These contests have expanded my knowledge, rather they have enhanced my comprehensive strength as well. Take mathematical modeling contest as an example. The contest usually lasts for three days. Two teammates and I must finish the work including data collecting, analyzing, modeling and paper writing. Since the time is limited and the work is fairly difficult and complex, we usually have to burn the night oil, thinking, programming and sometimes arguing. Such experiences taught me how to communicate and cooperate with others. Meanwhile, my skills of data analysis, modeling and paper writing have been significantly improved.

Second, I will talk about my scientific research experience. When I was sophomore, I participated in a project of science and technology plan focusing on heat treatment process, microstructure and property of ship high-strength-toughness steel. The effect of tempering temperature, holding temperature, holding time, and tempering time on the mechanical properties of the heat-treated plates were investigated. The microstructures of the hot-rolled and heat-treated plates were observed by scanning electron microscope. All these experiences remind me that theoretical principles and practical methods are the key to research activities.

Third, I will briefly describe my social activities. I joined in the Youth League Committee of my institute, and I have worked in the organization department. When I was the head of department, the successful completion of recruiting activities makes student organization grow steadily. And I planned and organized a series of student growth project to strengthen the communication of departments. What’s more, I won the title of "outstanding members".

The above is a simple introduction of my college life. As for myself, in my spare time, I like reading and running. I always hold that what I’ve learned these years is not enough to carry on dependent research thus I am eager for more.
