Teaching Aims:
Knowledge and Skill
a. Get the students to know the main idea of the article and talk about the future life.
b. Through discussion and the comprehension of Reading, develop the students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing, mainly reading.
c. Encourage the students to search the information on the Internet to gain more information about life in the future.
d. Improve the students’ abilit y to read for specific facts.
e. To grasp the usage of the future continuous.
Difficulties and Importance:
a. Conclude and collect the words and phrases related to life in the future.
b. Ask students to talk about the future.

Teaching Procedures:
Period 1
I. Warming-up
tep I: Lead-in
Teacher: read read the quotations for the students
Students: answer the questions of Activity 1
Step II: New words
Teacher: read and explain the new words for the students
Students: 1. Learn the words in Activity 1 of Vocabulary.
2. Match the words and phrases in the box.
Step III: Reading
Teacher: give students instruction of reading.
Students: Read the emails in Activity of Introduction..
Step IV: Practice
Teacher: give students instruction of doing the exercise.
Students: Rewrite the sentences using British words in Activity 2.
Homework : 1. Recite the new words. 2. Preview the reading text.
Period 2
Step I: Greetings
Step II: Revision
Review the words learnt last class.
Step III: Lead--in
Teacher: Give the instruction.
Students: Check the true statements in activity1.
1) People from Hong Kong can understand people from Beijing.
2) People from Shanghai sound the same as people from Xi’an.
3) Chinese characters can be understood by all speakers of Chinese.
4) American English is very different from British English.
5) People from Britain ca n’t understand people from America.
Step IV:. Reading the title
Teacher: Ask the students look at the title of each paragraph and get the topics Ss. Do the Activity 2.
Step V: Skimming
Students: Find out the main idea of each paragraph.
Step VI: Scanning
Teacher: Let students read the text again and finish Activity 3
Students: Analyzing the text
1) Read the first paragraph and finish the form.
2) Read the second paragraph and finish the form.
3) Read the third paragraph and finish the form
4) Read the forth paragraph and check the following statements.
5) Read the last three paragraphs and complete the sentences with the correct form of the verbs.
Step VII: Understanding
Ss: Find the sentences in the passage which difficult to understand.
Teacher: Paraphrase the sentences.
Step VIII: Summmary
Teacher and students summarize the Language points together.
Step IX: Practice
Teacher: Put the students into groups of three or four to discuss the questions in Activity 6.
Students: One of the representatives of each group to show.
They should explain the reasons for the answers.
Homework:
1. Write a summary of the whole passage.
2. Finish the exercises 1,5,6 on page 87.
Period 3
Step 1 Presentation
Look at these sentences from the passage.
I f you say the word “communication”, most people think of words and sentences. We use “learned” body language when we are introduced to strangers.
Now tick the true statements.
The sentences from the passage.
1. Describe common situations.
2. Describe impossible situation.
3. Use if or when to introduce the situation.
4. Explain the result of the situation in the other part of the sentence.
5. Use the present simple tense in both parts of the sentence.
Step V: Summary
Teacher and Students summarize the usage of the Present Simple Tense, the Present Continuous Tense, the Present Perfect Tense together.
Step VI: Practice
Teacher: Ask students to do Activity 2-5..
Students: Practise and read the passage againto choose three sentences in these tenses.
