My Favorite City – Nanjing
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my favorite city in the whole wide world – Nanjing! It's the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China and it's just the coolest place ever.
First off, Nanjing has such an amazing history. Did you know it used to be the capital of several ancient dynasties like the Ming Dynasty? There are so many historic sites and relics all over the city. My favorite is the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall which honors the victims of the Nanjing Massacre during World War II. It's a sad but important place.
Then there's the iconic Zhonghua Gate which was first built wayyyy back in the 14th century! It's this huge, impressive castle-like gate that guards the entrance to the city. I feel like a knight getting ready to battle evil whenever I walk through it. The ancient City Wall is pretty neat too – you can actually walk
along portions of the historic wall and get a bird's eye view of Nanjing.
Apart from the incredible historic sites, Nanjing is famous for other cool stuff too. It's known as one of the Four Great Learning Centers of ancient China because of top universities like Nanjing University. Lots of super smart people have studied there over the centuries. Nanjing is also a major center for arts, culture, and literature. The Nanjing Fuzimiao area has shops selling traditional arts, crafts, calligraphy supplies and more.
But my absolute favorite part of Nanjing has to be the Qinhuai River area. It's this lively downtown riverside district with beautiful scenery, historic buildings, restaurants, shops, and street performers everywhere you look. I love grabbing some delicious xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and strolling along the river, watching artists doing calligraphy and listening to musicians play traditional Chinese instruments. It's just such a fun, vibrant atmosphere!
Nanjing has another claim to fame too – it's considered one of the best places in China for foodies! The local cuisine is just out of this world. From duck blood soup (it sounds gross but it's actually really tasty!) to salted duck, fried squill, and more,
Nanjing's food is so flavorful and unique. My mouth waters just thinking about it!
I could go on and on about why Nanjing is the greatest city, but I'll stop here for now. Just do me a favor and add it to your travel bucket list okay? With its incredible history, culture, food and more, Nanjing is an absolute must-visit. I'm lucky to call this amazing place my home!

My Favorite City: Nanjing
Nanjing is my favorite city in the whole wide world! It's the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China, and it's such an amazing place. I love visiting Nanjing because there's so much to see and do. Let me tell you all about it!
First of all, Nanjing has a really cool history. It used to be the capital of China many years ago during different dynasties like the Ming Dynasty. That means there are lots of old buildings, temples, and historical sites to explore. One of my favorite places is the Fuzimiao area, which has a giant temple called the Confucius Temple. It was built to honor the famous philosopher Confucius, and it's just beautiful with all the ancient architecture and gardens.
Another really fun place to visit in Nanjing is Xuanwu Lake. It's a huge lake right in the middle of the city, and there's a park all around it where you can walk, ride bikes, or have picnics. Sometimes there are even little boats you can rent to go out on the lake! I love feeding the ducks and swans that swim in the water.
But Nanjing isn't just about old stuff - it's a modern, vibrant city too. There are tons of great places to go shopping, like the Xinjiekou area which has huge malls and markets selling all kinds of clothes, toys, and snacks. My favorite snack from Nanjing is something called "lingshouquan," which is a sweet, crispy pastry shaped like a little dragon. It's so yummy!
The food in Nanjing is amazing in general. Since it's located right on the Yangtze River, they have the best freshwater fish dishes. My mom always takes me to this one restaurant that serves the most incredible braised duck soup. And you can't leave Nanjing without trying some salted duck eggs - they might look a little weird, but they taste so good!
I also really like how green Nanjing is. There are parks and gardens everywhere, with beautiful flowers and trees. One of my favorite things is going to Zhongshan Botanical Garden and
walking along the trails to see all the different plants. They even have a section with pandas! How cool is that?
On summer nights, there are always fun activities happening along the Qinhuai River too. It's a little river that runs through the center of the city, and the whole area is filled with restaurants, shops, and entertainment like dancers, singers, and artists. My parents and I love getting some ice cream and wandering along the river, taking in all the sights and sounds.
I could go on and on about Nanjing forever! It has such an awesome mix of history, culture, nature, food, and energy. Everything about that city is exciting and fascinating to me. From the ancient temples to the modern skyscrapers, there's always something new and interesting to discover.
Whenever I'm in Nanjing, I feel so happy and alive. The city just has this incredible spirit that you can't find anywhere else. I already can't wait to go back on my next vacation and soak in more of the incredible atmosphere. Nanjing will always hold a special place in my heart!

My Favorite City - Nanjing
Nanjing is the best city ever! It's the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China and it's where I was born and raised. I love Nanjing with all my heart. Let me tell you why it's so awesome!
First of all, Nanjing has a super long history dating back over 2,500 years. It used to be the capital of several ancient dynasties like the Ming Dynasty. There are lots of amazing historical sites to visit like the Ming Tombs, the Confucius Temple, and the Zhonghua Gate. My favorite is the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall which honors the victims of a tragic event in World War II. Walking through the exhibits always makes me feel very sad but also proud of Nanjing's resilience.
Nanjing is famous for having tons of beautiful gardens, lakes, and parks. My dad takes me to Xuanwu Lake all the time to fly kites, feed the ducks, and rent little boats. I love the colorful flowers everywhere! Sometimes we go to Qinhuai River which has delicious street food stalls lining both sides. I always get stinky tofu, sugar rabbits, and fried dough twists. So yummy!
The city skyline is super cool with all the modern skyscrapers and the ancient city wall sections too. You can still walk along parts of the historic City Wall that used to protect Nanjing. I think it's neat how the old blends with the new. Purple Mountain is the
best place to get a view of the entire city skyline across the Qinhuai River. We usually take a cable car to the top then hike around. There are also lots of temples and towers on the mountain to explore.
One thing I'm really proud of is that Nanjing has the world's biggest and busiest train station! The Nanjing Railway Station is absolutely ginormous with a cosmic ring design. Over 300 trains pass through it every single day. My uncle is a conductor so I've gotten to go inside the station many times. I'm always amazed by how smoothly everything operates with so many people coming and going.
The summers in Nanjing are crazy hot and humid but the winters are mild which is perfect for me. I hate being cold! Nanjing gets plenty of sunshine year-round too. The local specialty is salted duck which my grandma makes for every holiday meal. I'm not a huge fan of the salty eggs or duck blood soup though - those are an acquired taste!
I could keep going on and on about Nanjing's charms. The tree-lined streets, the arts and cultural events, the world-class universities like Nanjing University, and so much more make this city truly special. Whenever we go on vacation, I'm always excited to come back home to Nanjing. Maybe you can visit
someday and I'll give you a tour! This is my beloved hometown and I'm proud to be a Nanjinger through and through.

My Favorite City - Nanjing
Hello, my name is Xiaoming and I'm going to tell you about my favorite city, Nanjing! Nanjing is the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China. It's a really big and beautiful city with so many amazing places to see and fun things to do.
One of the coolest things about Nanjing is its history. It used to be the capital of China a loooong time ago during some really important dynasties like the Ming Dynasty. That means there are tons of super old buildings, temples, and historical sites all over the city. My favorite is the Fuzimiao area with the Confucius Temple and the Qinhuai River. The river is surrounded by little shops, restaurants, and boats you can ride on. It's so pretty at night when everything is lit up!
Another awesome place in Nanjing is Xuanwu Lake. It's a massive lake right in the middle of the city with parks all around it. You can rent bikes and ride along the path that circles the whole lake. There are also lots of cool sculptures and monuments to look at. Sometimes there are performers or little
fairs happening too. My friends and I love having picnics by the lake when it's warm out.
Then there's the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall which teaches you all about a very sad but important part of Nanjing's history. It's a museum that reminds us to never let such terrible things happen again. Even though the subject is heavy, the museum is really well-done and powerful. I always feel thankful after visiting for the peace and freedom we have today.
Speaking of museums, Nanjing has some awesome ones besides the Memorial Hall. The Nanjing Museum is HUGE and has tons of ancient artifacts and treasures from Chinese history and culture. My favorite exhibitions are the ones about jade carvings and dinosaur fossils. There's also a really cool science museum with hands-on experiments that's perfect for kids.
But Nanjing isn't just about history and museums! There are tons of fun modern attractions too. The Nanjing Eye is a gigantic ferris wheel that gives you a bird's eye view of the whole city. I've ridden it a bunch of times and it never gets old! The Nanjing Aqua City is this epic water park with waterslides, a wave pool, lazy rivers, and more. It's the best place to cool off in the summer.
As you can probably tell, I really love Nanjing's mix of old and new, historical and modern. But I haven't even talked about the yummy food yet! Nanjing is famous for its delicious duck dishes like salted duck and duck blood soup. There are tons of amazing restaurants serving the best duck around. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Nanjing also has some special snacks that are super tasty and fun to eat. Zheng'an pastries are little cake-like treats that come in fun animal shapes. Then there are yummy fried dough twists, candied hawthorn berries on a stick, and this yogurt drink called shuan'nai that's like a drinkable yogurt smoothie. No trip to Nanjing is complete without trying all the yummy street food!
I love my city so much and I hope you can visit Nanjing someday to see its wonders for yourself. From the ancient temples to the modern amusement parks, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Nanjing will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for reading about why I love it so much!

Nanjing is the best city in the whole wide world! It's the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China. I really really love Nanjing because it has so many fun things to see and do.
One of my favorite places in Nanjing is Xuanwu Lake. It's a huge beautiful lake right in the middle of the city. You can rent little boats and paddle around on the water. There are also parks all around the lake where you can have picnics, fly kites, and play games. Last summer, my family had a picnic lunch under the trees and fed the ducks scraps of our bread. It was so much fun!
Another amazing place is the Nanjing City Wall. It's an ancient wall that goes all the way around the city center. You can walk along the top of the wall and see the whole city below you. Some parts of the wall are over 600 years old! My grandpa told me that a long time ago, the city wall protected Nanjing from enemy invaders. Isn't that crazy? These days it's just a cool place to get some exercise and take in incredible views.
My absolute favorite spot in Nanjing though is the Qinhuai River scenic area. It's this long, winding river that cuts right through the heart of the city. The riverbanks are lined with traditional buildings, restaurants, shops, and parks. You can take a boat tour along the river or just wander around the cute little alleys. Last New Year's Eve, my family and I watched an amazing
laser light show over the Qinhuai River. The buildings and water were illuminated with dazzling colors and shapes dancing to music. It was breathtaking!
Nanjing has a ton of other awesome attractions too like the Nanjing Museum, Zhonghua Gate, Purple Mountain, and Fuzimiao. They even have their very own giant Ferris wheel! And the food...oh man, the food in Nanjing is out of this world delicious. My favorite is duck blood soup - it may sound gross but I swear it tastes amazing. Just don't think too hard about what's in it!
Even though I was born in Nanjing, there's still so much of the city left for me to explore. Every weekend, my parents take me somewhere new. Nanjing is bursting with culture, history, natural beauty, and fun at every corner. Wherever you go, there's always something interesting to discover. It's impossible to ever get bored in Nanjing!
I'm so lucky I get to grow up in such a vibrant and exciting place. When I'm older, I want to travel around and see other cities too. But no matter where I go, Nanjing will always be my one true home. This amazing city has my heart forever. I can't wait to keep making more wonderful memories here with my family and friends!

My Favorite City: Nanjing
Hello, my name is Xiaoming, and I am going to tell you about my favorite city, Nanjing. Nanjing is a beautiful city in China with a rich history and many amazing places to visit. I love going there with my family during the holidays, and I always have so much fun exploring!
One of my favorite things about Nanjing is the Qinhuai River that runs through the city. The river is so pretty, with willow trees lining the banks and small boats sailing up and down. My parents often take me for walks along the river, and we love stopping at the little shops and restaurants there. They sell all kinds of delicious snacks like candied hawthorn berries,
sugar-coated fruit on a stick, and my favorite, tanghulu, which is candied haw on a skewer. The river area is especially beautiful at night when all the lanterns are lit up, reflecting on the water.
Another place I really enjoy visiting in Nanjing is the Fuzimiao area. This is a famous snack street with so many amazing food stalls. You can find every kind of street food imaginable – skewers of meat and vegetables, steamed dumplings, noodles, pancakes, and all sorts of sweets and
pastries. My mouth waters just thinking about it! I love walking down the street, taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells. My parents usually let me pick out a few different snacks to try.
In addition to all the historical sites, Nanjing also has some really cool modern attractions. One of my favorites is the Nanjing Eye, a giant Ferris wheel right on the riverfront. At night, it lights up in all different colors, and you can see the whole city lit up below as you ride around in the glass capsules. It's a little scary being up so high, but the views are totally worth it!
Nanjing has been an important city in China for over 2,500 years, serving as the capital for six different dynasties. You can feel that deep history everywhere you go. But at the same time, it's a modern, lively city with incredible food, fun activities, and friendly people. Whenever I visit Nanjing, I make so many wonderful memories. I hope I can go back again soon and explore even more of this amazing place. If you ever get the chance to visit Nanjing, you won't be disappointed!。
