晚上因为玩游戏睡得太晚早上迟到了英语作文
Last night was one of those nights that I just couldn't put the video game controller down. I was completely engrossed in my new game, "Galaxy Explorers 5". It's the latest installment in my favorite sci-fi adventure series and I've been dying to play it ever since I got it for my birthday last week.
The game starts off with your character, a brave space explorer named Zara, landing on a mysterious planet at the edge of the Andromeda Galaxy. From there, you have to go on all sorts of exciting missions, solve mind-bending puzzles, and fight against evil alien villains trying to take over the galaxy. It's just such an amazing game with awesome graphics and an epic story that sucks you right in.
I had been playing for a few hours already when my mom called up to my room, "Timmy, it's getting late! You need to start getting ready for bed soon." I barely heard her though, because I was right in the middle of an intense boss battle against the nefarious villain Malgor and his army of robotic minions. "Just a few more minutes!" I shouted back distractedly, mashing the buttons on my controller.
After finally defeating Malgor, I figured I would just try to make it to the next save point and then I could call it a night. Unfortunately, the next phase of the game started immediately after with a riveting chase scene where I had to pilot Zara's spaceship while dodging enemy fire and navigating through an intense asteroid field. I was flying and shooting and boosting at breakneck speeds, grinning from ear-to-ear with my tongue sticking out just a little in intense concentration.
"Timmy!! You need to go to bed right now, mister!" my mom's voice broke through again, this time much more stern and serious-sounding. I looked over at the clock - it was already 11:30pm! I was supposed to be in bed with the lights out by 9:00 on school nights. Oops.
"Okay, okay, I'm coming!" I called back. But then I saw a prompt on the screen that I could save my progress after successfully navigating the asteroid field. Just a little further! I pushed the spaceship to make it through, constantly tapping the boost button and weaving between rocks with lasers blasting all around me. Yes! Finally the save point!
I saved the game and then trudged downstairs, my eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness after being bathed in the bright TV glow for so long. "You're going to be a zombie at school
tomorrow, young man," my mom scolded as I entered the living room, rubbing my eyes groggily. "Video games after 9pm are off limits during the school week, you know that."
"I know, I know, I'm sorry," I mumbled apologetically. "I just got really into the game and lost track of time. But I saved it, so I can pick up right where I left off!"
"Well I hope it was worth it, because you're going to be struggling to stay awake in class," she replied sternly, though I could see the hint of an amused smile playing at the corners of her mouth. I just grinned back sleepily and hugged her goodnight before trudging off to get ready for bed.
The next morning did not go smoothly. I must have hit the snooze button on my alarm three or four times before finally forcing myself out of my nice, warm cocoon of blankets. I was exhausted, with heavy eyelids and a body that felt like it was made of lead. Getting dressed and ready for school was a major struggle - I'm pretty sure I put my shirt on backwards at one point and had to take it off and redo it.
Breakfast was a bleary-eyed, zombie-like experience of shoveling cereal into my mouth while staring blankly into the middle distance. "Let this be a lesson to go to bed on time," my mom remarked as she watched me practically falling asleep into
my bowl. All I could muster was a slow blink and a vague grunt in response.
The bus ride to school was torturous. Normally I loved chatting and joking around with my friends, but this morning I could barely keep my eyes open, let alone engage in conversation. I just slumped against the window, gazing out unseeingly as the neighborhoods rolled by. My best friend Jack kept trying to get my attention, but I was doing everything I could just to keep from nodding off completely.
I managed to make it through the first few classes in a zombified haze, feeling like I was operating in a dense mental fog. Paying attention was nearly impossible - the teacher's voice just kind of droned in and out for me. I caught myself zoning out and staring blankly at the chalkboard or out the window more times than I could count. A few times my head would slowly nod forward until I abruptly jerked it back up, having almost fallen asleep sitting up!
By the time lunch period rolled around, I was utterly and completely exhausted. I could barely keep my eyes open as I got my tray of food and shuffled over to the table where Jack and our other friends were already seated. "Dude, you look half-dead
today," Jack remarked with a laugh as I slumped into the bench beside him. "Did you sleep at all last night?"
I just groaned and rested my head on the table, letting my eyes fall closed. The next thing I knew, someone was shaking my shoulder gently. "Timmy? Timmy! Wake up man, lunch is almost over!" Jack was saying urgently. I jerked awake, my cheek sticking slightly to the table surface as I lifted my head up groggily. I must have passed out for a few minutes there in the loud chaos of the cafeteria. So much for being refreshed for afternoon classes!
The rest of the day was just a vortex of foggy fatigue, yawning, and struggling to keep my eyes open. I'm sure I turned in some pretty subpar work, as I could barely string two coherent thoughts together. I just wanted to go home and go to bed!
Finally, it was time to head for the buses and I practically sleepwalked my way onto the correct one. I must have dozed off again almost immediately, because the next thing I knew Jack was poking me, saying "C'mon sleeping beauty, this is your stop!" I roused slowly and trudged off the bus and up my driveway, eager to put an end to this never-ending day.
As I walked through the front door, I was surprised to see my mom sitting on the couch waiting for me. She took one look at
my bleary, red-rimmed eyes and disheveled appearance and laughed. "Looks like someone learned their lesson about staying up too late playing video games!"
I just let out a huge yawn and nodded wearily. "Tell you what," she said. "Go upstairs and take a nap for a couple hours, then you can play your game guilt-free once you've caught up on sleep." That sounded like a dream come true to me at that point! I gave her a grateful smile and hug, then trudged up the stairs to my room. I face planted onto my bed without even taking my shoes off and was dead to the world almost instantly.
That's the last time I let myself get sucked into a video game for too long on a school night! From now on, I'll be setting an alarm to go off so I know when it's time to hit the save point and get ready for bed. Some mistakes you only need to make once in order to learn your lesson - and this was definitely one of those times for me!。
