The Awesome Power of Reading!
Hi there! My name is Emma and I'm going to tell you all about why being a great reader is just so amazing and important. Reading is one of the most fun and useful skills you can have. It can take you on incredible adventures to make-believe worlds. It can also teach you tons of new things about our real world. Pretty cool, right?
When I was just a tiny kid, I loved having my parents read storybooks to me at bedtime. My favorite was the classic tales of Harry Potter - a young wizard who goes off to a magical school for kids with powers like him. I was captivated by the enchanting world of wizards, witches, ghosts, and supernatural creatures. Harry, Ron, and Hermione's adventures were always so exciting!
As I got a bit older, around 6 or 7 years old, I started learning to read simple books on my own. It was hard at first, sounding out words letter-by-letter. But soon enough, I was zipping through beginning reader books with ease. I loved reading fun
stories about kids going on camping trips, having birthday parties, or making trouble at school. Somehow the books just came alive in my imagination!
Once I mastered reading in my own language, my teachers introduced me to the fantastic world of English books, movies, and shows. Even though English seemed strange and confusing initially, I quickly realized what an amazingly useful skill it is to become fluent in reading English. You see, English is the most widely spoken language in the world. Over a billion people can read and speak at least some English!
Being able to read in English has opened up a wonderland of entertaining stories and essential knowledge that I never could have accessed staying only in my native language. So many of the best books, comics, websites, video games, and movies are originally written and created in English. By learning to read English fluently, suddenly I could journey to Hogwarts, fight evil orcs in Middle Earth, or explore futuristic galaxies far, far away - all from the comfort of my cozy reading nook!
But reading English isn't just for wild adventures and fun. It has also allowed me to learn an incredible amount about how our world works. I've read English books detailing the
mind-blowing evolution of life, the mysteries of distant planets
and stars, and the remarkable inventions that have transformed human civilization over centuries. English has become the global language for sharing knowledge, culture, and new ideas between people everywhere on Earth.
When I go online to research school projects, play educational games, or look up fun facts, so much of that information is written in English. The internet itself was invented by English-speaking scientists and much of the online world still uses English as the main common

The Super Awesome Importance of Reading in English
Hi there! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about why being able to read well in English is so very important. It's not just because my teacher says so or because my parents are always nagging me about it. Reading in English is actually one of the most super awesome skills you can have!
First off, being a great English reader opens up a whole new world of fun and adventure through books, magazines, comics, websites and more. There are sooooo many cool stories, jokes, comics, and games that are written or made in English. If you
can't read English well, you're going to miss out on a ton of amazing stuff.
Like my favorite book series, "Captain Cosmos and his Stellar Crew" - it's about a group of kids who get transported to outer space and have to go on all these crazy missions fighting evil aliens and exploring new planets. The books are just packed with action, humor, and awesome illustrations. But they're only available in English so if I couldn't read it, I'd be totally left out of all the fun!
Or take video games for example. A lot of the best games, walkthroughs, cheat codes and gaming websites are in English. If your English reading skills aren't up to scratch, you'll struggle to understand all that stuff and get the most out of your favorite games. That would be such a bummer!
Apart from entertainment, reading in English is also mega useful for learning pretty much any topic you can think of - science, history, coding, you name it. The internet has an endless supply of information in English on every subject imaginable. Being able to read it all means you can pick up new knowledge like a total sponge.
It also makes it easier to communicate with people all around the world. English is like the global language these days,
so by reading it you can better understand people from different countries and cultures. The world becomes a much smaller, more open place.
Reading English gives you a step up in school too. So many textbooks, study materials, and instructions are written in English. If you're an ace at reading it, you'll find it easier to excel at any subject from math to geography to literature. You'll be top of the class in no time and have teachers singing your praises!
But you know what I think is the best part about reading in English? You can use those skills to read awesome jokes, riddles and funny stories online and in books! Like this one:
Q: What kind of shoes do frogs wear?
A: Open toad!
Haha, get it? Open TOAD instead of open toe! Maybe it's a bit of a crummy joke for a 10-year-old but I still think it's hilarious. And there are so many more outrageously funny jokes, comics, memes and tongue-twisters that you can only fully get if you can read English well. Learning the language gives you the keys to a neverending kingdom of laughs!
You get to go on incredible adventures, discover fascinating facts, come up with brilliant ideas, and laugh your head off at
hilarious jokes and stories - all thanks to those English reading skills. How awesome is that?
So to sum it all up, being an awesome English reader is one of the most valuable, mind-expanding, fun, and powerful skills a kid can have. It lets you connect to the whole wide world through books, websites, games, and more. You can learn crazy amounts, be endlessly entertained, and even have a good old giggle fit thanks to your English reading prowess.
In my humble 10-year-old opinion, becoming an English reading master should be at the very top of every kid's to-do list! You'll be able to go on the most epic adventures, know all the coolest stuff, and basically become a fun-learning machine. What's not to love?
So keep on practicing your English reading every single day, whether it's books, websites, comics, anything! Before you know it, you'll be an English reading superstar and the world will be your awesome oyster. I know I'm going to work my tail off to get there because reading in English is just too fun, useful and important to miss out on.
Okay, that's all from me! Thanks for listening to me ramble on. Now if you'll excuse me, I have an extremely important mission continuing my reread of "Captain Cosmos vs. The
Snarlies of Sector 9." An English reading master's work is never done! Bye for now!

Reading is Totally Awesome!
Hi there! My name is Lily and I'm a 4th grader. Today I want to tell you why being a good reader is SO important, especially for big English tests like the CET-4 exam that older students have to take.
First off, reading is just plain fun! I love getting lost in a great book's story with fun characters and an exciting plot. My favorite books are the ones with a little bit of mystery or fantasy thrown in to make it even more entertaining. But reading isn't just about enjoyment - it also helps you learn SO much!
In school, we have to read all sorts of texts for our different subjects like science, social studies, and even math. The better I can understand what I'm reading, the easier it is for me to learn those subjects. My teacher says that reading comprehension is a crucial skill that will help me in every class.
Reading is also how we build our vocabulary. The more I read, the more new words I come across and can add to my
mental "word bank." Having a bigger vocabulary makes it easier to express myself better when writing and speaking. It's like being an artist with a bigger palette of colors to choose from!
But reading comprehension is especially vital for doing well on English tests like the CET-4. From what I've heard from my older friends, a huge part of that test is reading passages and answering questions about them. The passages can be about all kinds of topics like science, culture, global issues, and more. If you can't understand what you're reading, you'll really struggle on that part of the test.
My friends say the reading passages on the CET-4 can sometimes use pretty advanced vocabulary and concepts too. That's why it's so important to keep reading challenging books and materials as you get older. It builds your skills for comprehending complex texts. The more you practice, the easier it will be to fly through those reading sections!
Okay, now you know why reading comprehension matters so much. But how can we get better at it? Here are some tips I've picked up:
Read, read, read! The more reading practice you get, the better your comprehension becomes over time. Mix it up by
reading different types of materials too - books, magazines, articles, etc.
Look up words you don't know. Keep a dictionary handy and build that vocabulary!
Ask questions about what you're reading. Why did the character do that? What does this description mean? Questioning engages your brain more actively.
Take notes or make mental summaries as you read. It forces you to process the key points.
Read out loud sometimes. Hearing the words can help with comprehension.
Most importantly - pay attention and concentrate while reading! Daydreaming makes you lose the thread.
Those are some tips that have really helped me. I know reading can be hard work sometimes, but putting in the effort now will pay off huge on tests like the CET-4 later!
My older brother just took the CET-4 last month. He said the reading sections were definitely challenging, but his comprehension skills had a chance to really shine. He worked hard on building those skills over the years. Now he has an
excellent score that will help him attend a great university! That's the power of reading comprehension.
Maybe you're thinking - reading is just reading, right? How important can it really be? Trust me, it makes a gigantic difference in your test performance and overall learning. The students who are amazing readers always seem to understand things better and get higher grades. It's like they have a superpower!
Reading comprehension has given me so many advantages already, even as a 4th grader. I can understand my schoolwork better, express myself more clearly, and always have fun stories to read. I never feel bored because getting engrossed in a good book is the best!
So there you have it - the honest thoughts of a 10-year-old reading fanatic! I don't care if it's not considered the "coolest" hobby. Reading is a crucial life skill that will help you accomplish your goals. It's something I'm going to keep working hard on so I can succeed on big tests like the CET when I'm older.
Start building up those reading comprehension muscles now, and you'll be so grateful you did later on. You can be a reading superhero too if you put in the practice! Okay, I'm off to read the next chapter of my book. Happy reading, everyone!

The Awesome Power of Reading in English
Hey there! My name is Jamie and I'm a 5th grader. I used to think reading was just something we had to do for school and it was pretty boring. But over the last few years, I've realized how awesome and powerful reading can be, especially when it comes to reading in English!
You see, English is like the language of the whole world. Sure, there are tons of other languages too, but English is spoken in so many different countries. And get this - there are way more books, movies, video games, websites, and all kinds of cool stuff made in English than in any other language!
At first, I didn't really care about reading English books or websites. I figured, hey, if it's a good book or game, they'll just translate it into my language anyway. But then I started learning more about how translations can never be quite perfect. There's always something that gets lost or changed a little bit.
My reading teacher showed us examples of books that got translated from English into our language. Some of the jokes or sayings didn't really make sense anymore. The names got changed weirdly. And sometimes, the translators had to swap
out references to certain foods, customs, or cultural things because they don't exist here.
That's when it hit me - if I could read the original English versions, I wouldn't be missing out on anything! The stories, the humor, all the little details would come through just like the authors intended.
And it's not just books and entertainment stuff. So much of the world's amazing knowledge and information is written and shared in English first - things about science, technology, pop culture, you name it. By reading it in English, I can learn about new discoveries or happenings way before they get translated.
At first, reading in English was really tough for me. I'd have to stop and look up words in the dictionary constantly. Idioms and slang expressions would leave me totally confused. My reading speed was like a snail's pace.
But you know what? The more I practiced, the easier it got. It was like leveling up in a video game. Suddenly, words and phrases I'd struggled with before became clear. My brain started recognizing them automatically.
And reading just became way more fun overall. I could understand jokes and humor way better in the original language.
The characters' personalities came through louder and clearer. Descriptive passages about places and emotions felt more vivid and powerful.
Pretty soon, I wasn't just reading for school assignments, but for my own enjoyment. I'd read random articles online about my favorite video game characters or athletes. I'd dive into fantasy novel series. Heck, I even started reading instruction manuals in English because they made more sense that way!
My English reading ability helped me out in so many ways. When we took trips abroad, I could read road signs, restaurant menus, and attraction descriptions with no problems. My grades improved across almost every subject because I could understand terminology and concepts better. And I started scoring higher on standardized tests like the TOEFL too.
These days, my friends always ask me for book recommendations or to explain weird English sayings I use. Some of them have even started reading more in English after seeing how much I enjoy it and how it's expanded my horizons.
Reading in English has been like unlocking a secret world of knowledge, imagination, and perspectives that I'd never have access to otherwise. It's opened up so many windows into different cultures, ideas, and ways of thinking.
I know reading can seem hard or boring at first, especially in
a foreign language. But just keep pushing through and practicing. Before you know it, you'll be devouring books and websites like there's no tomorrow. That feel when you finish an amazing English book or article and you're just like "Wow, I really got that! I understood everything!" - it's an incredibly satisfying feeling.
So to all you students out there - start reading in English as early as you can! Grab those picture books, easy reader novels, manga translations, whatever gets you hooked. And for my older students, dive into those young adult novels, short stories, newspapers, and magazines. The more you read in English, the more you'll understand the world in a deeper way.
Reading is power, freedom, and a magical journey all rolled into one. When you read in English, that power is multiplied by infinity. So what are you waiting for? Open those books and get reading!

The Importance of Being a Great Reader
Hi there! My name is Emma and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to talk to you about why being a really good reader is SO
important. It's one of the most valuable skills you can develop when you're a kid.
Just think about how much of your day involves reading - from the cereal box at breakfast, to the chalkboard and textbooks at school, to reading fun stories before bed. Reading is everywhere! The better you can read, the more you'll understand and the easier so many things become.
For example, reading is really important for doing well in school across all your subjects. Whether it's reading the questions on a math test or reading chapters from your science and history books, it's crucial to be able read closely and accurately. If you can't read well, you'll struggle in class and on assignments.
Strong reading skills also open up new worlds by allowing you to experience tons of amazing stories and books! Some of my favorite times are getting cozy with a novel and using my imagination to envision all the characters and adventures happening on the pages. Books can take you anywhere - to fantasy realms, aboard spaceships, back in time to meet famous historical figures, you name it!
The more you read, the more vocabulary words you learn too. This helps you communicate better when speaking and
writing. Having a rich vocabulary makes it easier to understand others and express yourself in a really clear, descriptive way.
Reading is also an important life skill for all kinds of everyday tasks as you get older - like reading instructions, maps, manuals, legal documents, job listings, and so much more. People who are strong readers can be independent and don't need to rely on others as much for basic reading and comprehension needs.
I know what you might be thinking - "Reading is so boring and hard!" I totally get that. Reading isn't always easy or incredibly exciting, especially when you're first starting out. It takes practice to get better and develop stamina. But trust me, it's absolutely worth the effort!
The keys are to start reading early and read consistently. It's best if your parents or teachers read aloud to you when you're really little. That helps your brain start making connections between letters, words, and language. As you get older, keeping up with daily reading time - even if it's just 20-30 minutes - will rapidly improve your skills.
It also makes a huge difference if you read engaging books about topics you're genuinely interested in and find enjoyable. For me, I love fantasy novels and comic books about superheroes. My friends are way into books about sports,
animals, or funny stories. When you're reading something you actually like, you won't even realize how much your reading ability is growing.
I'd be lying if I said reading is my absolute favorite thing in the world to do. I definitely prefer things like playing outside, hanging with friends, or playing video games. But I know how crucial strong reading abilities are for succeeding in school and life. That's why I always make sure to do my reading homework and pick up a book, magazine, or comic every single day, even if it's just for a little while.
Honestly, being a fantastic reader has opened up so many doors for me already at my age. I'm near the top of my class, I have a crazy imagination from all the novels I've experienced, and I've learned tons of facts about the world from reading non-fiction books and magazines too.
My parents are always saying that the earlier you develop a love for reading and commitment to nurturing that skill, the further ahead you'll be compared to those who don't make it a priority. And they're absolutely right! I feel so grateful that they've raised me to be such a bookworm.
So if you're a kid wondering why reading is such a big deal, hopefully I've helped explain how extremely important and
valuable it is to become an excellent reader. It may seem hard and boring at times, but establishing strong reading habits while you're young is one of the absolute best investments you can make. It leads to better grades, greater knowledge, more independence, and more fun!
So keep practicing, keep finding topics you enjoy reading about, and surround yourself with parents/teachers who encourage reading. If I can go from dreading reading time to looking forward to it, so can you! Let's all become phenomenal readers together. Happy reading!
