the sounds of letter “n”and “kn”monogram: neck, nose, napkin, notebook, knee and know.
2.Students are able to chant and catch the rhythm and rhyme.

Teaching Strategies:
1.Situation teaching: Set a situation of Gogo’s and Jenny’s weekend to lead in at the beginning of the class.
2. Task-based method: Give Ss a paper with a table, demand the Ss to choose four words from the table and talk in four and write a short passage at the end of the class.
3. Communicative method: Use CAI show Ss video, pictures and some objects to help the Ss talk and communicate.
Teaching procedures:
Step1
1.Greeting
2.Lead in: Watch a video about “Gogo’s and Jenny’s weekend”
3.Find out.
1)Read conversation of “ Gogo’s and Jenny’s weekend.” (text of video)
2)Talk in four and fill in the blanks by retelling the conversation.
3)Try to read the words and find out pronunciation in common. (Purpose: Teacher sets a situation of Gogo’s and Jenny’s weekend which includes all the six words at P58. Teacher makes a video which has both sound and pictures to attract the Ss’attention and give the Ss a whole language impression)
Step2
1.Learn Sounds and Words at P58
1)Watch the video and listen carefully.
2)Read the sound and words
3)Make up sentences.
4)Learn more and know more
A: napkin:
*Complete the sentences.
Look at the napkins!
The orange one looks like a goldfish.
The pink one looks like a fan.
The white one looks like a bird.
*Thinking: People are creative
B. Long Neck Minority
*.A question: Why do they have such long neck?
* A short passage of introduction.
* Thinking: Everything is possible in the world.
(Purpose: Since the sound and words are easy for the Ss to read, T designs an activity “make up sentences”to make learning more challenging and useful. Besides T focuses on two words “napkin and neck”, let the Ss learn more-- the phrase “…looks like…”and know more about the world—“Long neck minority”)
2.Chant at P58
1)Watch the video and listen carefully.
2)Circle the words with the /n/ sound.
3)Practice chanting and clap on the words with /n/ sound.
3.A new chant: Who knows this man?
1)Try to read in four and catch the rhythm and rhyme
2)V olunteers to chant
3)Listen and see how teacher chants.
4)Thinking: Steve Jobs is one of the most successful man in the world. (Purpose: Chanting is meant to practice the Ss’sense of rhythm and rhyme about language speaking. So after students learn the chant at P58, T makes a new chant about Steve Jobs. On the one hand, it makes the Ss practice catching the rhythm and rhyme by themselves. On the other hand, it makes the Ss know more about great people in the world, perhaps to be someone like Steve Jobs in the future.)
4.Tongue twister: Practice the fluency of speaking English.
1) Repeat after teacher with slow speed first. Then faster. And then faster and faster.
2) Practice in four.
3) Show time.
5.Talk and write
Choose four words from the table, talk in four and write a short passage, meaningful or interesting.
1) Talk and write
2) Show and share
(Purpose: This part is mean to give Ss chance to use what they learn and learned before to talk and write. Writing is compressive and it is the best way to train the Ss’ thinking)
6.Can you read?
1)words: think, thank, thing, something, anything
2)A question: Does “n” here sound /n/?
3)Difference: When “n” is before “k” or “g”, it should pronounce /ŋ/. (Purpose: Actually letter n is not only has the sound /n/, when letter n is before “k and g”, it has to pronounce /ŋ/. So it is necessary for Ss to know about it.)
7.Summary
Today we’ve learned:
1)the sounds of letter “n”and the “kn”monogram. Usually they
both sound /n/, but when letter “n”is before the letter “k”or “g”, they have to sound /ŋ/.
2)Practice chanting and try to catch the rhythm and rhyme
3)Practice Tongue Twister and try to speak as quickly as possible. (Purpose: Summarizing in class is a good way for the Ss to be more clear about what they’ve learned. )
8.Homework.
1. Read “Sound and words”and chant P58 and pay attention to the /n/
sound.
2. Practice reading of “Gogo’s and Jenny’s weekend.”
(Purpose: It is to consolidate what the Ss have learned, and also to expand and make the Ss learn more and know more)
