第1题.
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Robert and Henry were two friends in the same class. They always played together and went home together. One day Robert and Henry were going home from school, when, on turning a corner, Robert cried out, "A fight! Let's go and see!"
"No," said Henry. "Let us go quietly home and not meddle with(插手)this quarrel. We have nothing to do with it and may get into mischief(trouble). Also our parents are expecting to have dinner with us together at home and I don't want them to worry about me."
"You are a coward, and afraid to go," said Robert, and off he ran. Henry went straight home, and in the afternoon went to school as usual.
But Robert had told all the boys that Henry was a coward, and
they laughed at him a great deal. From then on, they looked down upon Henry and didn't want to play with him together.
Henry was sad but he wasn't angry with Robert for his rude behavior, because he learned that true courage is shown most in bearing misunderstanding when it was not deserved, and that he ought to be afraid of nothing but doing wrong. Thus, he just ignored the other boys' laughter and continued to go to school and study as well. However, Robert didn't
invite Henry to go home with him anymore. Instead, he had some other boys who also thought Henry was a coward. Every day after school, they didn't go home directly but went to the river or somewhere to play games and had a lot of fun.
A few days later, Robert was bathing with his new friends in a river, and got out of his depth. He struggled, and screamed for help, but all in vain. The boys who had called Henry a coward got out of the water as fast as they could, but they did not even try to help him.

Paragraph 1:
Robert was fast sinking. ______
Paragraph 2:
Thus, Robert's life was saved. ______
【答案】Paragraph 1:
Robert was fast sinking. It seemed as if Robert would be drowned. Just at the moment, Henry happened to be passing by. Hearing the screams, Henry ran to the riverside, threw off his clothes and jumped into the water without hesitation. He reached Robert just as he was sinking the last time. With great effort, and at the risk of drowning himself, he brought Robert to the shore.
Paragraph 2:
Thus, Roberts life was saved. Robert and his new friends were ashamed of having called Henry a coward. They realized that Henry had true courage. They said sorry to Henry for their rude behavior and asked for his forgiveness. Henry forgave them happily. He and Robert were friends again and they went home together as usual. From this, Robert learned what true courage was: never be afraid to do good but always fear to do evil.

第2题.
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

I was on a tour of Italy with my friends. Our car pulled to a stop at the beach. I got out, carrying my guitar and saw the blue Adriatic Sea. Waves smashed(撞击)against large rocks that formed a jetty(防波堤). People said this beach was known for its fierce undertow(回流). I trembled. Nothing frightened me as much as water.
I'd always loved water and been a good swimmer until last summer, when I'd decided to climb up to the highest diving board at a city pool. I'd jumped into the water. The next thing I knew was my brother was pulling me out of the pool. From then on, I stayed away from the water.
"Kevin, are you coming?" My friend Brad called.
"Yeah," I said. "Just enjoying the view." From dry land, I added silently.
Just then I heard shouting. People were running into the sea.
I saw something moving up and down amid the waves. There was a little boy out there! The rescuers were fighting against the tide(潮水). They'd never get to him in time. They might not get to him at all with the undertow.
I looked back at the boy. His head popped up, then a wave crashed over him and he disappeared for a moment. I had to do something.
The jetty! The boy was close to it. From there maybe I could help. I raced down the beach, out onto the jetty, and it hit me: Water! My hands got sweaty and I felt sick to my stomach. I stopped short.
The people in the water weren't making any headway against the waves. I was the only one who saw that going out onto the jetty was the fastest way to reach the drowning boy. Though I was as terrified as he, I tried to remember the life guard training I'd had as a teenager.
Sucking in(吸气)a deep breath, I threw myself into the water. As soon as I went under it, I felt like I was back in that city pool, breathless, struggling. Focus, I shouted in my head. Where is he?

Paragraph 1:
Then I saw it—a thin arm waving weakly a few yards away. ________
Paragraph 2:
Brad jumped into the water ________
【答案】
Then I saw it—a thin arm waving weakly a few yards away. I reached the boy and held him just as he sank below the surface. I pulled as hard as I could. "Calm down!" I told the boy. When I turned back toward the shore, a wave crashed over us. The jetty was about 50 yards away. The undertow! It was pushing us to sea. I remembered what I'd learned in my lifeguard training. We slowly made our way to safety. Then I realized something amazing: I was no longer terrified.
Brad jumped into the water. I pushed the boy toward him. Just as I let go, a big wave picked him up and carried him all the way to Brad. I stopped fighting, and just let myself go. My hand hit the jetty. Someone pulled me out of the sea onto the rocks. When I caught my breath, I turned my head and saw the boy being hugged tightly by his mother. I looked out at the sea. Never before had water looked so beautiful to me.

The first thing Eileen Korey noticed when she got into the car that Wednesday afternoon in early May was a small diamond ring in the tray(托盘)between the front seats. It hadn't been there before.Weeks earlier, she had taken the car in to have the airbag replaced. The car belonged to her daughter and son﹣in﹣law and she was helping them out.Now she was picking it up.That's when she saw the ring.Korey,64,of Lake Oswego quickly contacted her daughter and son﹣in﹣law to ask if they were missing a diamond ring or if any of their friends had reported losing a ring. They both wrote back, saying they had no idea what she was talking about.
Korey took the ring to the service desk at the garage to ask if any women technicians might have left a ring in the car while they were working on it.The woman behind the counter said only men worked on the cars.Korey asked if the desk clerk could get information from the guy who had replaced the airbag.Over a two﹣way radio(对讲机),Helbt said he'd placed the ring in the tray when it dropped to the car's floor after he opened up the steering column to replace the airbag. He was not sure how it got there.
She knew a friend who was a jeweler and stopped by to have her look at the ring to see if it was real. Her friend said the diamond, set in a white gold hand, was worth $1,200 and Korey could easily sell it for $500.But she wouldn't sell it.After making sure the ring didn't belong to anyone in her family﹣or anyone at the auto shop Korey tracked down the first owner of the car using paperwork she found in the glove box.Her detective work led her to a dealership in Beaverton, and the car's first owners:Daniel and Ashleigh Hannah. The Hannahs had purchased the small ring when they got engaged and were saving money to buy a house.

"At the beginning of the COVID-19, I went through some painful personal stuff and would often go out at night for long walks because no one was around and I couldn't sleep anyway," Kelly wrote on Twitter.
"One night I was walking down my street and noticed that someone had set up a few little objects in a tree planter and upon closer inspection, I realized it was a fairy garden with a little note about the 4-year-old girl, Eliana, who felt lonely in quarantine(隔离期)and wanted to spread some cheer."
Kelly wrote a note to Eliana pretending to be a fairy named Sapphire that had come to live in the tree. "I said I would gift her a magical fairy dice(骰子)if she did 3 things for me," Kelly said. Kelly put the note in a small bottle filled with glitter and placed it in the garden, unsure if she would get a response.
The next day, she found a handwritten letter from Eliana explaining she had completed all of Sapphire's tasks. Kelly said she immediately burst into tears. "So I left a bunch of my dice that had small imperfections and left her another note and also a little extra note for her parents with my name and
phone number so they could contact me and know I wasn't some bad person leaving notes for their small child," Kelly said.
"Doing this every night gave me purpose in a horribly painful and lonely time," Kelly said. "I looked forward to my days again and started ordering art supplies and little toys to leave her."
"We wrote back and forth throughout the last 9 months, helping each other feel less lonely and I got to chat with her mom via text to make sure my gifts were a little more personal."

It was 8 a.m. Kathy, a 25-year-old nurse, had just finished a 12-hour night shifts at a hospital. She was tired but glad to be sailing along highway to where she lived. Although the local government had posted a snow alert (预警), the calm grey sky convinced Kathy the drive would be safe. "I figured I'd be in bed in an hour," she says.
Snow began when she was halfway home. Listening to the radio. Kathy learned the highway was closed because a tractor had slid off the road. She texted some friends and her mom, and tried not to sleep as she waited.
After a couple of hours, however, conditions worsened. Strong winds began rocking Kathy's car. She couldn't see anything outside, and snow was drifting up her doors. It was, she says, "a total whiteout and rows of cars and trucks."
Late in the afternoon a police officer came and asked if she was in any difficulty. She said she was fine. She asked the police officer if there was any way to get past the trucks. "No, ma'am," he answered. "You're not going anywhere."
Once as it got dark, Kathy began to worry. She texted his brother Cris, telling him to drive snowmobiling buddy (雪地汽车) to get to the highway and find her.
As Cris rode slowly alongside the rows of cars and trucks, people would roll down their windows and ask for help. "I was the first person they'd seen in six hours." He explained he was picking up his sister. He told them, "Nobody's coming and I can't take you."
Near 10 p.m. Cris reached Kathy. He directed Kathy to pull her car onto the shoulder (紧急停车带) and asked her to get into his snowmobiling buddy.
As they headed for home, the fun started. About five kilometres into the journey. Cris made a mistake. What he thought was a shallow ditch (浅沟) turned out to be a deep trough (水槽). Instead of coming out the other side, they just kept going down. They were trapped. And feathery snow was over their heads.

【答案】
At that moment, they had to take action and get out. They shouted at the top of their voice, but no one could hear them. They began to worry and were convinced they had to stay in their snowmobiling buddy for the night. Suddenly, a good idea occurred to Kathy. She took off one of her clothes and burned it. Seeing the fire, people ran over and managed to pull her car out with all their efforts, making Cris ashamed for his refusal to others.
When Kathy arrived at her home, her mother was waiting for her. She asked Kathy what had happened. Kathy explained, "I made a terrible mistake. But for others' help. I couldn't have been home for the night." When asked what she would do when someone had difficulty. Kathy answered immediately that she would do anything to help others because today's experience turned out to be a great lesson for her.

阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Reading fluency is the ability to read a story with ease. It is one of the most important skills for a child to master in the early elementary years. Not only does a fluent reader make the transition to being a fluent writer much easier than a non-fluent reader, but as students get older reading plays an important role in math, science and social studies, too. If you are concerned about your child's reading skills, here's some advice to increase reading fluency.
Read aloud to your child to improve reading fluency. Even if your child is old enough to read by himself, it's helpful for him to hear someone more experienced read to him. He will get a better sense of rhythm. And if you pick a variety of different styles, it will help develop an appreciation for all types of books. Meanwhile, it is beneficial for your child to gain knowledge from books, opening his eyes to people, places, animals and ideas.
Create a reading area. Give your child a place to which he can go to be comfortable while he reads, one that is filled with his own books. While it may not help with the technical components of fluency, it helps in building an overall appreciation for reading.
Paired reading is more than reading aloud. Paired reading can mean alternating sentences while you read with your child or reading aloud together. Just come up with a signal to indicate when your child wants to read a sentence by herself or is stuck on a word. Reading with someone else
encourages students to try reading materials that may be above their usual reading level, while also building oral skills.
Practice critical reading with your older child. Fluency isn't just about being able to recognize the words and read them expressively at a good place. It means reading with the goal of finding deep understanding of what you have read. Critical reading is a critical skill for third, fourth and fifth graders.
【答案】
Reading fluency, a crucial skill for a child, contributing to writing and many subjects' learning, can be enhanced in the following ways. Firstly, reading aloud to your child helps with understanding of rhythm, appreciation of books and absorbing knowledge. Second, setting a reading area creates reading atmosphere. Besides, paired reading can encourage self-challenge and develop oral skills. Also, critical reading can be applied to older child for deep understanding of materials.

续写的词数
应为150左右。

I received an urgent call from my aunt. "Turn on the TV. Granny's on the Channel 10 news." It turned out that Granny had made a sandwich run for her
office and was stopped at a red light downtown. She had the window rolled down to enjoy the breeze when a man rushed up to the driver's side window, intending to carjack(劫车)her.
Now, what the would-be carjacker couldn't have known was that this woman simply wasn't "a granny". This was Nancy Johnson—the same woman who owned and lived on a Texas cattle farm, drove her own tractors, and dug her own post holes to lay fence. The week before, she had shot a rattlesnake and chopped off its head with a shovel. She was the proud owner of the new minivan(小型货车)she was driving. In other words, she was not your normal kind of granny.
The carjacker leaned into the open window, one hand stuffed in his pocket, and said, "Get out of this car. I have a gun, and I will shoot you." A statement like that would have terrified anyone else. Instead, Granny saw it as a challenge. "If you really had a gun in your pocket, you would've pulled it out and led with that first," she shouted at him, apparently unworried.
She was right. The criminal didn't have a gun. He instead reached into the window, grabbed her, and tried to pull her out of the van. He pulled open the door, wildly catching Granny's arms. Granny leaned her shoulder inside to press the horn(喇叭)and started yelling to make people around notice what was happening. With the door now open, she held tight the steering wheel with one arm and started kicking the man anywhere her foot could make contact. This tall woman had quite a reach.
Para1
After a well-placed kick, the man was done, and attempted to release her and run. ______
para2
Later, we asked "Granny, don't you realize you could have got yourself killed?" ______
【答案】
After a well-placed kick, the man was done, and attempted to release her and run. But Granny wouldn't stand for that. It was now her turn to grab onto him, her hands made strong from hours and hours of farm work. That poor fool didn't have a chance. She shouted for help to bystanders, and they rushed to her aid. With Granny leading the charge, a group of strangers came together and pinned the man to the sidewalk, holding him there until the police came. A silver-haired woman had just made a citizen's arrest.
Later, we asked "Granny, don't you realize you could have got yourself killed?" Granny's answer was surprisingly amusing and simple: "I wasn't scared of that little idiot. I'd had my brand-new van for less than two days and a pack of good sandwiches for my office. And there was no way he was going to get either of those!" But we all learned an important lesson from her that day—the same lesson that had been building through the years. She encouraged us to push boundaries and expectations. But even more so, she taught us fearlessness.

It was 1995, when people used fixed-line telephones instead of mobile phones for communication and people asked ways instead of depending on navigation systems to get around. I was in China for the first time. I was to meet a friend, Bruce, who had come to China a few months before to work in Jingzhou. I had never heard of the place, so I guessed it must be small. Before I left for China, Bruce had told me his address over the phone. Now, I was confident that I could find the place with the address written on a piece of paper in my pocket.
It was not until I arrived at the airport in Wuhan and went to get the bus for the "small town" that I realized the address note I wrote in English was useless. At the information desk of the bus service outside the airport, I spent as long as 5 minutes trying every possible American pronunciation of the word "Jingzhou" with him repeating every single word with a confused inflection(音调变化). Finally, his eyes widened and it clicked. He turned to me and said something I didn't understand. I was not sure what he said; but he said it with confidence.
He ran outside gesturing for me to follow and put me on a bus. He did everything for me. I handed him some money and he took the proper amount and gave me the change. Then he told the bus driver where I was going. When the bus took off, I assumed we were heading to Jingzhou...but how could I know?。
