英语作文关于外国节日
Foreign Festivals。

Festivals are an important part of people's lives all over the world. Different countries have their own unique festivals. Some festivals are deeply rooted in religion, while others are based on cultural traditions. In this essay, I will introduce three foreign festivals: Christmas, Diwali, and Hanukkah.
Christmas is a festival celebrated by Christians all over the world on December 25th. It commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. The celebration usually starts with the Advent season, which begins four Sundays before Christmas Day. People decorate their homes with Christmas trees, lights, and ornaments. They exchange gifts with family and friends, and enjoy special meals together. In many countries, Christmas is a public holiday, and people attend church services to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Diwali is a Hindu festival celebrated in India and
other South Asian countries. It usually falls between mid-October and mid-November. It is also known as the Festival
of Lights, and it symbolizes the victory of good over evil. During Diwali, people light up their homes with candles, lamps, and fireworks. They wear new clothes, exchange
sweets and gifts, and perform puja (worship) to the goddess Lakshmi. Diwali is a time for family gatherings and feasting, and it is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy.
Hanukkah is a Jewish festival celebrated for eight days in December. It is also known as the Festival of Lights,
and it commemorates the miracle of the oil that burned for eight days in the Temple in Jerusalem. During Hanukkah, people light a special candelabrum called a menorah, which has nine branches. They light one candle on the first night, two on the second night, and so on, until all eight candles are lit on the final night. They also eat special foods, such as latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (jelly donuts), and play games with a spinning top called a dreidel.
In conclusion, festivals are an important part of people's lives all over the world. Christmas, Diwali, and Hanukkah are just a few examples of the many festivals celebrated by different cultures. They bring people together, strengthen family bonds, and promote cultural understanding and diversity.。
