Hello! Ladies and gentlemen !Today my topic is Unit 4 A night the earth didn’t slee p. Now allow me to introduce the first part:
1. Analysis of the teaching materials:
This lesson is a reading passage. It plays a very important role in English teaching of this unit because we should lay particular emphasis on the students’reading ability in senior English teaching. By studying this lesson, students can not only get to know something about earthquake and enlarge their vocabulary and expression concerning with it, but also learn some reading ability. Of course, the students should receive some moral education. To cultivate the students’bravery of facing the difficulties and inspire their s ympathy to the people who needs help.
2. Analysis of the students :
From the aspect of knowledge and skills, some students can ’t put what they have learned into use. From the aspect of moral, it is common that some students in senior school are very indifferent to anything but study. Sometime they are lack of a sense of sympathy and justice. These are the problems that I want to get through.
3. Teaching Aims
(1) Knowledge objectives:
a. To learn some vocabulary and expressions about the earthquake and use them in
proper situation.
b. To learn a bout basic knowledge about the Tangshan earthquake
(2) Ability objectives:
c. use what we have learned to describe what would happen before – during – after the
earthquake
d. to improve the reading skill and the ability of using English to express one’s idea s
(3) Emotional objective:
a.to inspire the students’sympathy to the weak
b, to learn from the bravery of the people in Tangshan to face the reality and rebuild the city.

1) to get the students to know more knowledge about Tangshan earthquakes
2) to improve the students reading ability

Using the learned phrases and sentence patterns to express one’s ideas
