父母给李华布置了家庭作业英语作文My Parents Gave Me Homework
The other day, I came home from school feeling happy and free because we didn't have any homework assignments for the weekend. I walked in the door, kicked off my shoes, and flopped down on the couch to watch cartoons. But then my mom came in the room with a serious look on her face.
"Sweetie, we've decided to give you a special homework assignment for this weekend," she said. I couldn't believe my ears! Homework from my own parents? On the weekend? This was an outrage!
"But mom, we didn't get any homework from school this weekend!" I protested. "That's not fair!"
My dad then entered the room. "Your mother is right. We're assigning you a project to work on over the next two days," he said sternly. "No TV, no video games, no fun until you complete it."
I was stunned. What kind of crazy parents give their kids extra homework just for fun? I anxiously waited for them to explain this torturous assignment.
"We want you to thoroughly clean your bedroom from top to bottom," my mom declared. "Organize all your toys and books, clean up any messes, vacuum, make your bed neatly - the whole nine yards."
Cleaning my ridiculously messy pigsty of a room? That sounded like cruel and unusual punishment! But they weren't finished.
"After your bedroom is spotless, we want you to do a writeup explaining what you did to clean and organize it, and why it's important to keep your personal space tidy," my dad added.
A writeup too? This was getting worse by the minute! But I didn't dare complain any further for fear of even more homework tortures.
The next morning bright and early, I begrudgingly started cleaning my bedroom. I made multiple trips hauling out armloads of dirty laundry, piles of toys scattered everywhere, and stacks of books and games covering every surface.
As I slogged through the mess, I couldn't believe how many random objects and crumbs had accumulated in all the nooks and crannies. There were some surprises too - like when I found
my missing retainer from six months ago under the bed! I had torn my room apart looking for that thing.
Sorting through all my toys and books took forever since I had so much stuff. I made piles to keep, throw away, or give away to charity. My parents had to step in and overrule me on some of the "keep" items that were just broken junk.
After what felt like days of hard labor, my room was finally clean and organized enough for my parents' approval. My toy boxes were neatly arranged, my closet was organized by clothing type, my bed was made with fresh sheets, and my bookcases were alphabetized and dusted. Who knew I owned that many books?
The finale was vacuuming every nook and cranny until my parents could run a brink inspection. I have to admit, seeing the crisp vacuum lines in the carpet gave me a weird sense of pride and accomplishment.
Then came the dreaded writeup on why it's important to have an organized personal space. As I wrote it out, I realized there were actually some good reasons:
First, it's much less stressful when you can quickly find the items you need instead of endlessly searching through clutter.
Second, having a clean space makes you feel more relaxed and in-control. Third, you don't lose or ruin things as easily when they're properly put away. And fourth, clean personal spaces make a good impression on others like friends who visit.
As torturous as my parents' homework project was, I have to admit the final results were pretty great. My cozy little bedroom nightmarish messiness into a refreshing oasis of order and tranquility. And I felt productive accomplishing all of that hard work through my own effort.
Who knew that parents could actually be pretty smart sometimes? I begrudgingly told them I was glad they gave me this assignment, even though I'll never admit that out loud to their faces. Maybe the occasional parental homework assignment isn't such a bad thing after all - as long as it doesn't happen too often! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go relax in my nice clean room and fully appreciate all my hard work. Just don't touch anything!。
