According to some studies, 80 % of the brain receives information through the eyes. Color makes it easier for us to see things and encourages the memory to hold information. Warm colors, such as red, orange and yellow, can increase the brain activity of students. Calm colors, such as blue and white, make students feel relaxed. Teachers can decorate the classroom to match either an active or a relaxed style of learning. Children who are over-active can use calm colors. Children who find it difficult to pay attention in class can use warm colors.
In general, warm colors are recommended for primary school classrooms. Calm colors are recommended for middle school and college classrooms.。
