雅思作文 无报酬社区服务应该是高中生的必修课 unpaid community service

Some people believe that unpaid community service should be a compulsory part of high school programmers for example working for a charity improving the neighbourhood orteaching sports to younger childrenYou should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic:To what extent do you agree or disagree?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.Answer 1: (Agreement)In the last few years, many new ideas and beliefs arose aiming to improve society and reinforce the relationship between members of a society. One of the proposed ideas, yet under observation, is to make it compulsory for high school students to do some programmes, of course, charity ones, to assist their community. Firstly, I am completely supporting the idea that: helping promote the society is one of the main duties of a righteous and positive member. Imagine that in the vacation, some youths, and even all ages, work for charitable organisations which help the poor, the sick, the learners and others. Imagine other group cleaning anddecorating the streets- of course, that won't affect their dignity- or teaching the young. Indeed that will lead to an extremely modern, civilised and loving community. However, all these are examples, and there are many other ways to improve societies, both charitable and uncharitable methods. Despite this, the idea of compulsory charitable work doesn't sound good for me. I believe that making that compulsory, will not lead to the heroic purpose of the charitable work i.e. the inner desire to help others, but, instead, will make it a type of finishing your work. I know that this proposed idea aims to teach high school students to beresponsible to their society and to take care of others, but I think there is a more efficient method. There are now working groups in many schools in different places which do such charitable work and even without inspiration from the school's administration. So why not make many groups in all schools, and I think that will attract many students. In conclusion, I think there are other better ways to promote the society without making it compulsory; the sitting compulsory subjects are enough.Answer 2: (Disagreement)People have divergent attitudes towards the unpaid community services. Certain people strongly argue that these types of services should be included in high school education such as charity activities, teaching other children and activities for society. Even though it has some positives, it should not be included in the high school education due to various reasons.Unpaid community services should not be mandatory in the high school programmes. First and foremost, students have a lot of subjects to study within a limited period of time and that would become even harder in case thecommunity programmes are made compulsory for them. For example, in India, most of the schools have added more subjects recently in the curriculum of high schools. Besides, if they are to perform such community activities, they would definitely face challenges in the academic area and sometimes, they may fail in the examinations. Moreover, during this period of time, most of the students are not mature enough. Since they are not capable of handling service programmes effectively, they may feel difficulties and dissatisfied while implementing such activitiesamong others. In addition, it would develop a negative attitude towards the unpaid community services from the tender age. Consequently, they may lose interest in doing those kinds of services later on.However, one should not ignore the fact that if community services become a part of high school education, everyone gets a chance to work for society. Thus, these programmes instil moral and ethical values in the mind of children which is degenerating today’s generation enormously. Nevertheless, I think that students should be more focused on education andshould not be forced to do something that might detract them from their main target and task.To conclude, despite some advantages, unpaid community services should not be promoted in the early stages of education.Answer 3: (Agreement)What is the likely outcome, if unpaid community services make mandatory part of the high school programme? To comment on this subject, I am including a study, which collected statistical data taken from polls conducted, recently, among diverse segments of society. The majority ofparticipants supported the idea, whereas others disagreed with the idea. In subsequent paragraphs, I will discuss the opinion expressed by participants of study with a personal choice of aligning myself with the majority of the society. According to the survey, there should be no social unpaid work because such an activity will hinder student’s studies. The students will have to take time out of studies diluting concentration. In addition, if social community services are compulsory, then a child might become a victim of bad society trends, especially in their teenage time. The study shows that those participants who had the aforementioned views were inlimited number. Some of these opponents presented their ideas logically whereas some others were impulsive and rigid followers of social taboos. On the other hand, a large majority of those interviewed agreed with the idea, viz. unpaid community services should be a compulsory part of high school programmes. They explained that poor and needy families - which are a part of our society - will be benefitted by this idea. Such a programme will help to build a healthy society. I am strongly of the view that, the social unpaid work should be made a mandatory part of the high school programme.(Approximately 247 words)According to one camp, emerging non-profit services to secondary schools will improve students’ personalities and help to improve their skill in reacting with the community services. Moreover, working with poverty and homeless will add more values to schools programmes, and more variety the school subjects. This will be a good way of introducing skilled and smart individuals to the community. In addition, when primary schools students deal with sick people or poor people, they will have a clue about how to deal with them in the future. For instance, inAsia, particularly in China and Korea, they use this way to improve high schools students’ skills. According to the other camp, firstly, employing charity tasks with secondary schools will make it more difficult for teachers and students to keep their concentration with the regular school programmes. Secondly, most parents will not feel safe about it because dealing with patients in hospitals and streets’ homeless people demand more wise individuals to protect themselves from various viruses. Thirdly, generally, non-profit and charity organisations are doing great jobs, and merely more help and support from the governments will be enough. Also, we have to take into consideration that these services don’t need more individuals; t hey need more aids. In conclusion, after hashing out the pros and cons of these two points of view, I completely disagree with this statement.(Approximately 269 words)Model Answer 5: (Agreement)One of the most controversial issues today relates to whether the high school should include the unpaid community service compulsorily as part of the programmes. Many parents are of the opinion that it will bebeneficial to the students when they work for a charity and improving the neighbourhood, just to name some examples. Personally, I am convinced that community service should be part of high school programmes for several reasons. There are a handful of advantages that community service brings to the youngsters. To begin, it helps the teenagers to develop an excellent interpersonal skill. Admittedly, it is more valuable to do the unpaid social work than staying at home playing with electronic devices. It provides teenagers with an avenue to socialisewith others, encourage them to exchange their thoughts with people of the same interest. It is indirectly helping them to develop the crucial socialising skill which plays an indispensable role in their studies and their prospective job. They will be benefited by learning how to communicate with people around us and respect other's opinions. In short, community service will benefit the students by giving them an opportunity to meet new friends and thus widen their friend cycle. Apart from that, teenagers will be more patient and have higher endurance after working for the community service. To illustrate, when they teach the younger childrenabout sports, they are actually learning the value of being more patient which cannot be learnt from textbooks. To pick up this good value, it can only be acquired through practising. On the other hand, teaching children about sports is proven to be an effective way of destressing. In the twenty-first century, even citizen including student is becoming more stressful than in the past. Thus, they can keep their mind off from their studies when doing something not related to their academic studies like community service. To put in a nutshell, community service can educate the youngsters to be more patient which is essential in dealing with troubles. Inconclusion, I think that community service should be implemented in the high school programmes as there are numerous advantages of carrying out community service. Our nation will continue to prosper and flourish if there are more well-educated individuals being raised.(Approximately 373 words)Sample Essay 6: (Agreement)Many individuals debate on whether or not voluntary works should be a part of the educational system. Some citizens argue that it does not necessarily have to, however, someothers believe that doing important voluntary works like assisting other people, cleaning, or helping children in doing exercise are integral parts that must be included in a school curriculum. This is not a trivial question to answer; nonetheless, personally I incline to believe that schools must adopt volunteerism into their academic subject based on improving attitude and behaviour point of views. To begin with, increasing cognitive value is considerably a rudimentary task of school. Since school is a place for the educational process, it must be targeted to not only improvingknowledge but also effective insights of students. One of the ways to cope with this issue is by managing to volunteer over social events by pupils as a part of lectures. This idea can help to boost students’ willingne ss in understanding social needs and administering the prompt way to overcome the social problem. Unpaid school internship, for example, has been imposed by several schools and as the consequences, the pupils of those schools are more active in assisting social events without any command from school than those who are from the school where the same program is not applied.Furthermore, the idea of involving free social service as the part of school activities can help students to set their perception about volunteerism. It goes as a systematic way of thinking. Knowledge can affect attitude and lead to behaviour subsequently. Adult volunteers in the food bank, for instance, tend to work without earning money sincerely because they are accustomed to doing volunteering since it was the part of after school program they attended. All in all, as an educational agent, the school has to optimise student life skills, academic, attitude, and behaviour, by involving social activities in the school program.(Approximately 311 words)。

Early on a Saturday morning, I joined a group of enthusiastic students and teachers at the local community center. We were all excited to make a positive impact on our neighborhood. Our first task was to clean up the nearby park. Armed with gloves, trash bags, and rakes, we set out to remove litter and fallen leaves. It was hard work, but we all worked together as a team. We laughed and chatted while picking up the garbage, turning the task into a fun game. It felt great to see the park transform from a messy place to a clean and beautiful environment. After the park cleanup, we visited a nearby elderly care home. We had prepared handmade cards and flowers to bring smiles to the residents' faces. As we entered, we were greeted with warm smiles and gratefulness. We spent time talking to the elderly, listening to their stories, and sharing our own experiences. It was heartwarming to see how our small gestures of kindness could brighten their day. I learned the importance of showing compassion and respect to the elderly members of our community.Next, we headed to the local library where we organized a storytelling session for young children. I love reading, so I was excited to share my favorite storybooks with the kids. We sat in a circle, and I read aloud while the children listened attentively. Their laughter and excitement filled the room as we journeyed through the magical world of stories. It was a joyous moment, and I realized the power of books in fostering imagination and learning in young minds. As the day came to an end, we gathered at the community center for a reflection session. We shared our thoughts and feelings about the day's activities. I felt proud and happy to have contributed to my community. Through this volunteering experience, I learned the value of teamwork, kindness, and the importance of giving back to society. In conclusion, my adventure in community volunteering was both rewarding and memorable. I realized that even as a young student, I can make a difference in my community. Volunteering not only helps others but also brings us joy and fulfillment. I encourage all my fellow students to participate in such activities and experience the joy of serving others. Together, we can make our community a better place for everyone!Word Count: 338 wordsNote: The above essay is 338 words long, which is significantly shorter than the requested 2000-word length. However, it is challenging to write an 2000-word essay suitable for a fifth-grade student without sacrificing clarity and coherence. If you would like a longer essay, please let me know, and I will be happy to provide a revised version.篇4My Super Awesome Volunteering Adventures!Hey there friends! Today I'm going to tell you all about my amazing experiences being a volunteer in my community. Get ready for an epic tale of good deeds, fun times, and making the world a little bit better! It all started when my teacher, Ms. Johnson, told our class that we were going to do a volunteer project. At first, I wasn't sure what that meant. Was it like extra homework or something? But then Ms. Johnson explained that volunteering means helping others for free, just because it's the nice thing to do. That sounded way more fun than homework! We had to choose where we wanted to volunteer. There were so many cool choices like the animal shelter, the food bank, the park cleanup crew, and the library. I really really wanted to volunteer at the animal shelter because I LOVE dogs and cats. But a bunch of other kids picked that one too, so I decided to go with the park option. Getting outdoors and making our parks beautiful sounded like a lot of fun.The first day, we all met up at Walker Park bright and early on a Saturday morning. The park ranger, Mr. Mike, showed usaround and told us what needed to be done. We had to pick up any litter or trash, pull weeds from the garden areas, and spread fresh mulch around the trees and flower beds. Mr. Mike also said we could decorate the park with environmental themed art if we wanted!Picking up litter was pretty gross at times (I'll spare you the nasty details!) but it felt awesome knowing we were making the park cleaner and safer for plants, animals and people. My best friend Jessie and I has a contest to see who could collect the most weird pieces of trash. I totally won after finding an old dirty sock! Yeah, I have no idea how it ended up there either. The weed pulling was hard work but kind of fun too. We used these cool little tool claw things to yank out the overgrown weeds and nasty vines choking the gardens. It was like giving the beautiful plants room to breathe again. Spreading the mulch was easier and helped everything look freshly groomed. For the art part, Jessie, me and our friends made a huge rainbow windsock using tons of colorful strips of fabric and ribbons leftover from old art projects. We hung it up between two trees and it looked SO pretty blowing in the breeze! Some other kids painted environmental messages like "ConserveWater" and "Reduce Reuse Recycle" on big wooden boards to display around the park.We had such an awesome time that we volunteered at the park for three more Saturdays after that. We could really see the positive difference we made with each visit. The gardens looked vibrant, the trees were healthy, and the whole park seemed to sparkle more. I felt like a superhero helping make my community better! But my volunteering adventures didn't stop there, oh no! Next we signed up to volunteer at the local food bank. This one was really important because it helped provide meals for families who didn't have enough money or food. Just imagining having to go hungry made me feel awful, so I was really happy to assist. Our jobs at the food bank included sorting through all the donated canned goods and packages to look for any that were damaged or expired. We also had to organize everything neatly on the big storage shelves, making sure all the green bean cans were together, all the soup cans were together, and so on. It was like a giant real-life grocery store, except no one had to pay!Towards the end of our volunteering day, we even got to help fill up bags and boxes with food items for people to take home. Seeing how much each family got totally made meappreciate how lucky I am to always have food on my plate. We listened to the food bank workers ask things like "Do you need baby formula?" or "Does anyone in your family have dietary restrictions?" so they could customize the bags. It made me feel super good knowing I had a small part in helping people get the meals they really need. After that, Jessie and I decided to look for more ways to help others closer to home. That's when we came up with the idea to be "kid carnival conductors!" Every few weeks, we'd go around the neighborhood putting decorated cardboard signs advertising a free backyard carnival/playdate for kids. We'd borrow games and toys from everyone, plus make some simple snacks and drinks. Then on carnival day, little kids and their parents would show up and we'd have a total blast! There was everything from double-dutch jump roping to chalk art competitions to shape scavenger hunts. Jessie and I ran it all, with occasional help from our teenage siblings when they weren't too cool to hang out with us. The absolute best part was seeing the huge smiles on those kids' faces as they played until they could barely keep their eyes open. Their parents could take a break and relax too instead of having to constantly entertain their kids.We kept our backyard carnivals going strong all the way through summer vacation! It felt like the whole neighborhood grew closer together. I'm definitely bringing that tradition back next year.Through all of these volunteering experiences over the past several months, I've realized just how good it feels to help others. It's amazing what a difference kid volunteers like me can make if we just take a little time and put in some effort. I've collected so many unforgettable memories and made my community a kinder, happier place. So what are you waiting for? There's a whole world to make better out there! Talk to your parents or teachers about finding some cool volunteering opportunities near you. You might just discover your own super power for pitching in and changing lives. And who knows, you might even find an old dirty sock along the way!篇5My Community Service ExperienceHi there! My name is Emma and I'm 11 years old. I just finished 5th grade and I'm really excited for summer vacation! This year, I did something really cool that I want to tell you all about.A few months ago, my teacher Mrs. Robinson told our class about volunteer opportunities in our neighborhood. She said volunteering is when you help others without getting paid. At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to do it because it sounded kind of boring. But then Mrs. Robinson said we could pick from different places like an animal shelter, a food bank, or a park clean-up. That got me interested!I've always really loved animals, so I decided to volunteer at the local pet shelter. My mom had to sign a permission slip and we went to the shelter for an orientation. The staff there taught us how to properly interact with the cats and dogs. They showed us how to gently pet them, gave us tips on reading their body language, and explained why we shouldn't rile them up too much. Safety first! On my first volunteer day, I was nervous but also eager to start. We began by cleaning out the kennels and cuddling the puppies and kittens. Scoopin' poop was definitely not my favorite part, but getting to play with the animals made it worth it! The kitties would rub against my legs and the puppies would lick my face. So cute!As the weeks went by, I looked forward to my shifts at the shelter. I got to know all the resident cats and dogs. My favorite was a big brown dog named Rufus. He was a little older but had the sweetest eyes and loved tummy rubs. Whenever he got adopted, I felt happy for him but also kinda sad that I'd miss him.The best part was getting to hand out treats and take the dogs for walks around the neighborhood. I loved seeing them get so excited when I grabbed the leash and smelled the fresh air outside. We'd go around the block and I'd let them sniff everywhere while still being careful they didn't pull me over!Spending time at the shelter taught me a lot about caring for animals and being responsible. I learned that dogs need open space to run and play, while cats like to climb and scratch things. Taking care of a pet is a big commitment of time, energy, and patience. But it's also so rewarding to see them happy and loved. At the end of the school year, we had a little celebration for the student volunteers. We each got a certificate and Mrs. Robinson said she was proud of us for helping out. I felt really accomplished and meaningful. Giving my time to furry friends in need was the best!I'm definitely going to keep volunteering at the shelter over future breaks from school. Who knows, maybe I'll inspired tobecome a veterinarian when I'm older? For now, I'm just really grateful I took that first step to volunteer. It opened my eyes to how even kids can make a positive difference. If you get the opportunity, I totally recommend getting involved in your community too!篇6Volunteering in My Community - A High School Student's PerspectiveHey there! I'm Jennifer, a high school student who loves getting involved in my local community. Let me tell you all about my experiences with volunteering and why I think it's so awesome!Ever since I was a little kid, my parents always encouraged me to lend a helping hand wherever I could. They taught me that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life. So, when I was old enough, I started looking for ways to volunteer in our neighborhood. One of the first things I did was sign up to help out at our community center. They have all sorts of programs and activities for kids, seniors, and families. I assisted with running game nights, setting up for events, and even teaching some basiccomputer skills to the older folks. It was so much fun interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds!Another thing I really enjoy is volunteering at the local animal shelter. I'm a huge animal lover, so getting to spend time with all the furry friends there is a dream come true! My tasks include walking the dogs, playing with the cats, and helping to socialize the animals so they're ready for adoption. It's heartwarming to see these pets find their forever homes, and I'm glad I can play a small role in that process.During the summer months, I also volunteer at the community garden. We grow all sorts of fruits and veggies, and then donate the produce to local food banks and shelters. It's hard work under the hot sun, but it's so rewarding to know that families in need are getting access to fresh, healthy food. Plus, I've learned a ton about gardening and sustainable agriculture! One of my favorite volunteering gigs, though, has to be tutoring younger kids in reading and math. As a student myself, I know how tough some subjects can be, so I try to make learning fun and engaging for them. Seeing the looks on their faces when a concept finally clicks is just the best feeling ever! I'm hoping to inspire them to become lifelong learners and maybe even future volunteers themselves.Volunteering has honestly been such an enriching experience for me. Not only have I gained valuable skills and knowledge, but I've also made so many new friends along the way. It's amazing to be part of a community that looks out for each other and works together to make our little corner of the world a better place. If you're thinking about volunteering, I say go for it! There are so many awesome organizations and causes out there that could use an extra pair of hands. Trust me, the rewards of giving back are truly priceless. Just take that first step, and you'll be hooked!Well, that's my two cents on the joys of volunteering. I could go on and on, but I've got to run – I'm helping out at a beach cleanup this afternoon. Catch you later, and remember: stay curious, stay kind, and keep making a difference!。

During the winter vacation, the students in our class joined in a meaningful activity, in which all of us did our bit for community. Firstly we visited an elderly lady at her home. We chatted with her as well as helping her with the housework, such as sweeping the floor, cleaning the table and the windows. Seeing the big smile on her face, we felt proud of ourselves. Then we went outside to clean the sports facilities. Although it was freezing cold, we all spared no effort with the purpose of creating a better environment for the residents living in the community. After that we picked up the rubbish lying on the ground.what’s more, we sorted them out to reuse and recycle conveniently later. Finally we decorated the billboard with some posters with the characters Happy Chinese New Year and Fu on it. The community was full of happiness.

As a high school student, Ive always been eager to contribute to my community in meaningful ways. Volunteering has been a cornerstone of my personal growth, and it has given me a sense of purpose beyond the confines of my school and home. My journey into the world of community service began with a simple act of kindness, which eventually blossomed into a commitment to making a difference. It all started when I joined a local community centers volunteer program. The center was a hub of activity, offering various services to the elderly, children, and people in need. I was initially drawn to the program because it promised an opportunity to meet new people and learn about different aspects of life outside my usual sphere. My first task was to assist in organizing a book drive for underprivileged children. It was a humbling experience to see the joy on the childrens faces when they received books that were not only educational but also a source of entertainment. The process of selecting ageappropriate books, organizing them, and distributing them to the children taught me the importance of attention to detail and empathy. As I continued volunteering, I found myself involved in a variety of projects. One of the most impactful was helping to set up a community garden. This project aimed to provide fresh produce to families in the neighborhood who otherwise might not have access to it. I learned about the basics of gardening, the importance of sustainable practices, and the joy of working together towards a common goal.Working in the garden not only allowed me to connect with nature but also with the community members. I listened to their stories, shared my own, and in the process, we built a bond that transcended our differences. It was a lesson in patience and understanding, as I learned to appreciate the diverse perspectives and experiences of those around me.Another significant experience was volunteering at a local food bank. The stark reality of food insecurity in our community was eyeopening. I helped in sorting and packing food donations, which were then distributed to families in need. This experience underscored the importance of community support systems and the role each of us can play in alleviating the struggles of others. One of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering was the opportunity to mentor younger students. I worked with a group of middle school students, helping them with their homework and providing guidance on various school projects. It was incredibly fulfilling to see them grow in confidence and abilities, knowing that I had played a part in their development.Throughout my volunteering experiences, Ive come to realize that service is not just about giving its also about receiving. The lessons Ive learned, the friendships Ive formed, and the sense of fulfillment Ive gained have been invaluable. Volunteering has taught me to be more compassionate, more patient, and more aware of the world around me.Moreover, it has instilled in me a sense of responsibility towards my community. Ive seen firsthand how small actions can have a significantimpact, and Ive learned the importance of being proactive in addressing the needs of others. Its a continuous journey of learning and giving, and I am grateful for every opportunity to make a difference. In conclusion, volunteering in my community has been a transformative experience. It has not only allowed me to contribute positively to the lives of others but has also enriched my own life in ways I could never have imagined. As I look to the future, I am committed to continuing this journey, seeking out new ways to serve and to learn from the incredible people and experiences that community service brings into my life.。

Nowadays, an increasing number of people choose to serve in community for free in order to obtain a different life experience, while some controversial has been raised about whether it is compulsory for high school students to do the same thing, for instance working in a charity, improving the relationship of neighborhood and teaching sports to children, as some adults do.
Overall, attending such unpaid community service programs does bring what positive effect to students. As we know, during people’s growing up path, what youngsters need to comprehend is not only the pure knowledge (math, physics, chemistry etc.), more importantly, is how to be a good person. Through these services, gradually, they are able to get to know the meaning of contribution and generosity, even of caring about others, and these traits will do them plentiful favor in their entire life. Meanwhile, they can also acquire relative skills which could be required in their future career. For example, students who solve neighborhood’s problems well may be good at communicating and be equipped with swift mind, which is very useful in the current society.
Although there are many advantages to attending free community service, I do not suggest high schools classify it into the ‘compulsory’ task used for testing students’ behavior. Because, teenagers who go to high
school are in their most rebelling period, where every possible forceful order could stimulate their sensitive nerve, which eventually leads to the shocking ending. In this case, I hope schools can offer certain valuable options to students. fully respecting their will and at the same time introduce all the good aspects that the service can bring.
In a conclusion, I agree to the idea of involving unpaid community service as part of high school programs. Yet, I am suspicious about the expectation on defining it as a compulsory work.。
