The Story of an Hour
时间的故事
It was reported to Mrs. Mallard by her sister, Josephine, that the husband of Louise Mallard, Brently, had been killed in a railroad accident. Upon hearing this, Louise stepped
into her home’s upstairs room and closed the door behind her.
有人向梅拉德夫人报告，她的妹妹约瑟芬的丈夫布伦特利在铁路
意外中死去，听到这个消息，路易丝就走进家中的楼上房间，关上了门。

Although initially in shock, Louise then realizes that
for the first time in so many years she will be free from the bonds of marriage and will now possess the freedom to do whatever she wants with her life. The words “free”, “liberty” and “independent” slowly come to the forefront of her mind.
虽然一开始还是一片恍惚，但路易丝很快就意识到，她终于可以
摆脱婚姻的束缚，获得自由的生活，“自由”、“解放”、“独立”

As Louise thought about her newfound freedom, she began
to feel a sense of joy and reward that even surpassed any feeling she had ever experienced before. She looked out of
her bedroom window at the clear blue sky and began to imagine what a beautiful world it would be without the constraints of a husband.
当路易丝思考自己新获得的自由时，她开始感到一种快乐与满足，这超出了她之前体会过的所有感受。

However, just as soon as these positive thoughts came to Louise, she also realized how devastating her newfound
freedom might be in the eyes of society. Although she was happy that she finally had the ability to live the life she desired, she simultaneously felt guilty for not mourning the death of her husband.
然而，正当这些积极的想法浮现在路易丝脑海时，她也意识到这
种获得的自由在社会上可能有多大的破坏性。

At this point, Josephine and Richards had come to check
on Louise, only to find that she had passed away while they were on their way up the stairs. It was determined that the weak heart of Mrs. Mallard had given out due to the sudden shock of her husband’s death.
