In the UK, most children have their midday meals at school. In many schools, parents can choose what their children eat. The children can have a school dinner — a hot, cooked meal; or they can take a packed lunch with them, including usually cold food like sandwiches.
But how healthy are school dinners? The chef (厨师) Jamie Oliver attached importance to this question. He started to work to improve children’s nutrition (营养) after spending a year working in a school kitchen. He saw junk food served, including burgers, pizzas and chips. So he decided to cook some good meat and curries (咖喱食品) for the children instead.
