3. 由特殊疑问词who(人物)、where(地点)、when(时间)、what(事件)、 why(原因)、how(方式)引导的特殊疑问句来提问文章的细节。
What’s the main idea of the passage?/ What are the main points about. . . in this passage?
名词、to do 、doing 、句子 why
Because, for, since, as, in order to when
In 1948./On September 19, 2004 where
In the park how
形容词、副词、by doing 、with…… How long
For, since ,如:For two years How far
Five minutes’ walk……
I think he/she …/We need to be …/I can learn … from him/her 要点概览
A.How did the judge solve the student’s problem?
B.(The judge solved the problem) By making the restaurant owner hear the sound of the falling coins.
2.用where/when提问,要以介词in/ on/ at等开头。
A.Where did the student live?
B.In a small room near a restaurant.
A.When did Eppie Lederer begin to write an advice column for the Chicago Sun Times?
B.In 1955. (or: After she won a contest.)
When did you e to Shanghai?
①在2012年→In 2012.
Two years ago.
When I was a boy.
3.用how many提问,要注意数字前是否有限定词more than/ at least/about等。
A.How many readers do the two columns have?
B.Nearly 200 million readers (around the world).
4.用why提问,要以because(of) 开头回答, 或者以To do开头回答。
A.Why did the student feel afraid?
B.Because the judge said he was wrong / he had only a few coins/ he had no money.
A.Why did Lederer ask her readers to write letters to The U.S. Congress?
B.To make them pass the law.
A.Whom did Sam live with in the Wild Catskill Mountains?
B.He lived with himself.
A.How long have you stayed in Shanghai? B. For 3 years.
B. How long did it take you to go to school by bus? B. 3 hours.
A.How was the food in the restaurant?
B.The food was delicious/good.
Example 1. Both Eppie Lederer and Pauline Phillip love their jobs, don’t they?
Example 2. Both Eppie Lederer and Pauline Phillip don’t love their jobs, do they?
)
)
Based on her speaking, how do we stay young, to laugh or to cry?
We stay young to laugh.
A.As a teenager, will you run away from home? Why?
B.Because this was just the kind of forest he always dreamed about.
A library is a place to keep books and store knowledge. Recently libraries are not as popular as before because people prefer to use the Internet to find out information, rather than books. With a click of a mouse, it is possible to find out almost anything people care to know.
But being in a room that is full of books is a fantastic thing. Just think about how many words there are in a library. Each of those words has been thought of, and carefully chosen, by tens of thousands of people. That must make it a special place to be.
Maybe all kinds of things can happen in libraries. Sometimes, you see that a library is used for poetry workshops or guitar lessons. Also, they may have writers visiting and talking about their books. All of these activities are much
better because they are in a library.
Lots of schools have libraries. If your school has a library, it’s probably not just a place to read books. Libraries are also quiet places to be. They are calmer than the playground or the dining hall. It’s the books that keep us calm and peaceful.

After several months had gone by, I began to notice that her window was dirty. Everything was unclear through the dirty window. I would say to myself, “I wonder why that woman doesn’t wash her window. It really looks terrible.”
One bright morning I decided to clean my flat, including washing the window on the inside.
Late in the afternoon when I finished the cleaning, I sat down by the window with a cup of coffee for a rest. What a surprise! The woman sitting by her window was clearly seen. Her window was clean!
Then I began to understand it. I had been criticizing (批评) her dirty window, but all the time I was watching hers through my own dirty window.
That was quite an important lesson for me. How often had I looked at and criticized others through the dirty window of my heart, through my own shortings?
From then on, whenever I want to judge someone, I ask myself first, “Am I looking at him through my own dirty window?” Then I always judge myself before I judge others.

One day, in a heavily crowded place, a young man wearing expensive clothe said politely, “Please look at me.
I have the most beautiful heart in the world.”
Many people looked at him and were surprised to see his beautiful heart in a perfect shape. However, there came an old man and he said. “No, I have the most beautiful heart in the world!” The old man showed his heart to him which had scars(伤痕)all over.
The young man started laughing, “See, my heart! How beautiful it is! See yours? It is full of scars. How can you say your heart is beautiful?”
“Dear boy, did you see the scars? I share a piece of my heart with others when I share love, and in return I get a piece of heart, which I fix at the place from where I have cut a piece,” said the old man.
The old man continued, “Since the pieces of heart I shared were not in the same shape or size, my heart is full of scars. Your heart with no scars shows you never shared love with anybody. Is that true?” The young man stood silently and didn’t say a word.
