As a foreign teacher, I have been teaching English in China for several years. During my teaching experience, I have encountered many interesting and challenging situations. Here are some of my thoughts and experiences.
Firstly, I have found that many Chinese students are very shy and lack confidence when it comes to speaking English. This is understandable, as English is not their first language. However, I always encourage my students to speak up and make mistakes, as this is the best way to learn. I often use the phrase "practice makes perfect" to motivate them.
Secondly, I have noticed that some Chinese students have difficulty with pronunciation. This is because English has many sounds that do not exist in Chinese. To help my students improve their pronunciation, I often use tongue
twisters and other fun exercises. For example, I might ask them to repeat "She sells seashells by the seashore" several times, or to practice saying "th" and "r" sounds.
Finally, I have found that teaching English in China is a very rewarding experience. I have met many wonderful students and colleagues, and have learned a lot about Chinese culture. For example, I have learned about the importance of family and respect for elders in Chinese society. I have also had the opportunity to try many delicious Chinese dishes, such as dumplings and hotpot.
