When I was in high school, my parents let me travel to some foreign countries all by myself. At that time, it was the first time for me to go out of my country, so I felt so excited and scared at the same time. I did not know how to take care of myself and ask strangers for help. However, thanks to my experiences of this journey, I gradually learnt how to be independent and responsible.
During my travel, I had to take care of all the expenses like hotel, food and transportation by myself and I had to plan ahead. I was totally responsible for my own safety. Moreover, I had to make a lot of decisions such as what time to get up, where to go and what to do. I had to learn how to manage my money, time and energy. It was difficult but I overcame all these challenges in the end.
Besides, traveling also made me more open-minded and tolerant. When I encountered different culture and language, at first I felt confused and unfamiliar, but gradually I got over it and I was willing to learn something from different culture and people. Through the interaction with other travelers, I realized that everyone has their own value and opinion. When I faced some dispute, I tried to listen to different ideas before I came to my own conclusion.
