关于谈论传统文化继承者的英语作文My Grandma: A Keeper of Traditions
My grandma is the coolest person I know! She's like a walking encyclopedia of all the fun and interesting traditions from our culture. Whenever I visit her, it's like stepping into a time machine and getting a glimpse of how things used to be in the good old days.
One of the things I love most about my grandma is her amazing storytelling skills. She can weave tales that transport you to faraway lands and make you feel like you're right there in the middle of the action. But her stories aren't just for entertainment; they're also a way for her to pass down our cultural heritage to me and my cousins.
One of my favorite stories is the legend of the dragon boat festival. Grandma says that long ago, there was a brave and loyal minister named Qu Yuan who spoke out against the corrupt rulers of his kingdom. The king didn't like that, so he had Qu Yuan exiled. Heartbroken, Qu Yuan drowned himself in a river. The people loved Qu Yuan so much that they raced out in their boats to try and save him, beating drums and splashing the water with their paddles to scare away any evil spirits. They even
threw rice dumplings into the river as an offering to Qu Yuan's spirit.
To this day, we celebrate the dragon boat festival every year by racing dragon boats, eating sticky rice dumplings, and drinking realgar wine. It's a tradition that reminds us of the importance of loyalty, bravery, and standing up for what's right.
Another tradition my grandma has passed down to me is the art of Chinese calligraphy. She taught me how to hold the brush and how to make each stroke with precision and grace. It's not just about writing characters; it's a form of meditation and
self-expression. Grandma says that the way you write reflects your inner thoughts and feelings, so you have to approach it with a calm and focused mind.
One of my proudest moments was when I wrote my name in calligraphy and showed it to Grandma. She beamed with pride and said, "You've captured the essence of your name beautifully. Keep practicing, and you'll become a true master calligrapher one day."
But my grandma's traditions aren't just about festivals and art; they're also about the little things that make our culture so special. Like the way she always sets an extra place at the table during New Year's Eve dinner, in case any wandering spirits want
to join us. Or how she taught me to make traditional dumplings from scratch, kneading the dough and carefully folding each one to ensure they look perfect.
Sometimes, my friends tease me about my grandma's "old-fashioned" ways, but I don't mind. In fact, I'm proud to be the keeper of these traditions. It's like having a secret code that connects me to my ancestors and my roots. Whenever I feel lost or confused, I can turn to my grandma's teachings, and they ground me, reminding me of who I am and where I come from.
I know that one day, it will be my turn to pass these traditions down to my own children and grandchildren. And when that day comes, I'll think of my grandma and all the love and wisdom she shared with me. I'll tell them the stories she told me, teach them the arts she taught me, and make sure they understand the importance of honoring our culture and keeping its flame alive.
Because that's what traditions are all about – they're not just dusty relics from the past; they're living, breathing connections that bind us to our history and our identity. And as long as there are people like my grandma, those traditions will never die out. They'll continue to be passed down from generation to
generation, like a precious heirloom that grows more valuable with each passing year.
So here's to my grandma, the ultimate keeper of traditions! May her stories, her teachings, and her spirit live on forever in the hearts and minds of her descendants.。
