Unit 5: Helping Our Parents
Lesson Objectives
•Students will identify ways they can help their parents at home.
•Students will develop their understanding of the value of helping others.
•Students will practice expressing gratitude towards their parents.
Warm-Up Activity
•Ask students to share one thing they do to help their parents at home.
•Discuss with the class the importance of helping their parents and the impact it has on their family.
Main Activity
Activity 1: Brainstorming
•Ask students to work in pairs and brainstorm different ways they can help their parents.
•Provide each pair with a worksheet to record their ideas. •After several minutes, ask each pair to share their ideas with the class.
•Record the ideas on the board for the entire class to see.
Activity 2: Poster Making
•Divide the class into small groups and assign each group
a specific task from the brainstormed list.
•Instruct each group to create a poster that promotes their designated task and its importance.
•Encourage creativity and allow ample time for groups to complete their posters.
•After completion, hang the posters around the classroom for the entire class to see.
Activity 3: Thank You Note
•Provide each student with a thank you note template. •Instruct students to write a thoughtful note expressing their gratitude towards their parents and their
willingness to help around the house.
•After completion, encourage students to deliver the notes to their parents at home.
Closure
•Ask students to share what they have learned about helping their parents and its importance.
•Discuss with the class how small acts of kindness can make a big impact on their families.
•End the lesson by reminding students to continue to show gratitude and help their parents at home.
Assessment
•Collect the thank you notes that students wrote and assess them based on their thoughtfulness and expression of gratitude towards their parents.
Extension Activity
•Have students interview an older family member (grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc.) about how they helped
their parents when they were young.
•Have students compare and contrast their responses with their own experiences and share their findings with the class.

•Poster making supplies (such as markers, glue, construction paper)
