Stagflati on is an econo mic situati on in which in flatio n and econo mic stag nati on( 停滞)occur at the same time and rema in un checked for a sig ni fica nt period of time. The portma nteau (多用途的,多性质的)stagflati on is gen erally attributed to British politicia n lain Macleod, who coined the term in a speech to Parliame nt in 1965. The con cept is no table partly because, in postwar
macroeconomic (宏观经济的)theory, inflation and recession(萧条)were regarded as mutually exclusive, and also because stagflati on has gen erally prove n to be difficult and costly to get rid of once it gets started.
Econo mists offer two prin cipal expla nati ons for why stagflati on occurs. First, stagflati on can result whe n an economy is slowed by an un favorable supply shock, such as an in crease in the price of oil in an oil importing country, which tends to raise prices at the same time that it slows the economy by making product ion less profitable. This type of stagflati on prese nts a policy dilemma because most actions to assist with fighting inflation worsen economic stagnation and vice versa. Second, both stag nati on and in flati on can result from in appropriate macroec ono mic policies. For example, central banks can cause inflation by permitting excessive growth of the money supply, and the government can cause stagnation by excessive regulation of goods markets and labor markets, Together, these factors can cause stagflation; equally, either can, if taken to such an extreme that it must be reversed. Both types of expla nati ons are offered in an alyses of the global stagflation of the 1970s: it began with a huge rise in oil prices, but then continued as central banks used excessively stimulative mon etary policy to coun teract the result ing recessi on, caus ing a run away wage-price spiral (工资售价节节升高之现象).

When it comes to frien ds, I desire those who will share my happ in ess, who possess wings of their own and who will fly with me. I seek friends whose qualities illu min ate (照亮)me and train me up for love. It is for these people that I reserve the glow ing hours, too good not to share.

be parts of the same mind. In my most in teresting moments, I often think: “ Yes, I must tell ….” W have never met.

Diligence and Laziness
In gen eral, dilige nee is the motive power of success. As it is, there are so many people who have been successful in their careers owing to diligenee. To take Dr. Sun Yat-sen for example, he had bee n busy running about for the democratic revoluti on of China for forty years, which in the long run gave birth to the Republic of China. Compared with dilige nee, laz in ess is just opposite to it. Ten to one, failure ofte n results from laz in ess. It is not too much to say that laz in ess is the main factor of failure.
No doubt, it pays to be diligent, but it's wrong to work and work without taking a rest. Un doubtedly, we may take some time off after hard work. We must recog nize that being lazy may do good to us once in a while. Can you imagine that we take a rest for the purpose of taking a Ion ger walk? Of course, we cannot be too dilige nt. On the other hand, we also should n't ig nore the timely laz in ess. Because of this, we can find that dilige nce with proper laz in ess may lead to a wholesome life.

第二节读写任务(共1小题,满分25分)
One possible summary versi on:
Gen erally, dilige nce con tributes to success while laz in ess resultes in failure. But worki ng con ti nu ously is wrong and so dilige nce with right laz in ess gives rise to a wholesome life.
Two possible versi ons:
Dilige nce ofte n brings us success and laz in ess failure. However, tak ing some rest can do us good. A bala nce of dilige nce and laz in ess can be ben eficial.
No one of those who succeed atta ins accomplishme nt at on ce.The road to prominence is long and windin g,requiri ng con sta nt drive to overcome obstacles along the way.At ofte n times, laz in ess makes us lose the determ ination needed to reach our final destinations.Without hard work, one may be easily frustrated by possible setbacks and may even give up half way.
The unq uesti on able harm of laz in ess can be testified through a low graduatio n rate of stude nts purs uing a medical career in the un ited states. To become a doctor,o ne must go through nine years of university education and several more as an intern.During the long process,a lot of prospective stude nts do not work hard eno ugh to master n ecessory expertise and experie nce, so as a result they can ' t go on to work as doctors.
Thus,it is safe to con clude that laz in ess preve nts us from beco ming successful.
Success often goes with diligence while failure seldom goes without laziness. But a balance is
n eeded betwee n hardwork and relaxati on in order to lead a wholesome life.
Bei ng one of the huma n n atures ,laz in ess n ever recieves more praise tha n dilige nce. But to some degree, laz in ess can also be regarded as a main kind of promotive power in society.
Thanks to the laz in ess, cars are created to replace long hours of walk, elevators are produced to preve nt lazy people from going upstairs, tra ins and pla nes are also made to provide them with more comfortable ways to travel all aroun
d.Therefore, laz in ess isn ' t totally a bad thing if we take full adva ntage of it.
However, laz in ess does n ' t mean stay ing in bed and does no thi ng.ln stead, it requires a deeper thought as well as creativity, that is, only smart people are more likely to make good use of lazin ess.
In a word,we should not judge laz in ess partly by the n egative effect it brings to us.If we are creative eno ugh, we can also be a great man who is lazy in some ways.。
