不同的语言是其所在文化发展的产物，而语言本身在一定的场景中体现文化的内涵。每种语言都反映了其独特的文化底蕴。英语电影所反映的文化与中国文化之间存在巨大的差异，因此在英语电影台词翻译过程中需要对不同文化的内容进行相对应的转换，中国的观众才能理解其语言背后的文化内涵。
电影台词的特点影视语言不同于书面文学语言的五个特点:聆听性、综合
性、瞬间性、通俗性以及无注性。 ——钱绍昌

特点一：瞬时性
与其它文学作品可以多次重复性阅读的特点不同，电影台词在电影播放中演员只演绎一遍，观众在观看电影画面的同时需要迅速地观看字幕或聆听配音，而不能重复观看或聆听同一句台词。对字幕翻译者来说，字幕的翻译应该做到译文简洁明了，一目了然。

电影台词翻译是一件长期而且艰难的工作，译者不但要考虑到英语影片的所表达的主题和台词的语言意思，而且要考虑不同语言之间的文化意象的传递。处理好翻译中的文化意象的传递问题，关键是译者应深刻了解英语语言和汉语语言所存在的文化，提高对文化差异的敏感性和自觉性，也即具有跨文化意识。译者应尽量忠实于英语语言的文化意象，只要是译语观众能接受，就应该尽量移植，从而充实丰富译语的文化意象．
