Integrating skill: Animal Experiments
--Book1B unit 16 Scientists at work Good morning, teachers, It’s my great pleasure to have this opportunity to be here sharing my lesson with you. The content of my lesson is Animal Experiments taken from Senior English for China Book1B Unit 16 Scientists at work. I’ll be ready to begin this lesson from three parts, my understanding of this lesson, my teaching theories、methods and aids, my teaching procedures. First, let me talk about my understanding of this lesson. Part 1 My understanding of this lesson
The Analysis of the teaching material
The task of integrating skill in unit16 is to ask the Ss to write an argumentative essay to express whether their own opinion is for or against the animal testing. The reading material mainly has discussed two questions about “Does animal testing work?” and “Do people have the right to use animals?” and set forth the viewpoints both pros and cons. In a word, the passage has provided the sufficient writing material for the Ss to prepare for writing. Teaching Aims:
1.To train the Ss write the argumentative essay.
2.To cultivate their dialectical thinking (辨证思维).
Teaching Important Points: A fixed format of the argumentative essay
Teaching Difficult Point:
The grounds of arguments must be both logical and realistic, this requires that Ss know sth about the topic from real life.

Question3 What is usually written about in the next Part?
Question4 What is usually written about to develop the 3rd Part?
Question5 What is usually written about to make a conclusion?
Step 2 Reading
First, I will make the list on the blackboard. Next, let the Ss read the passage and help them clarify the meaning of the text. And then ask Ss to finish the list after reading the passage. Meanwhile, I will encourage my Ss to express their own opinion about animal testing. Finally, on the basis of their own point of view, the two
Step 3 Writing
In this part, first I would like to instruct my Ss to analyze both positive views and negative views. And then train my Ss to find the relevant views to support their own opinions while to refute the other side. At last, I will ask the Ss to write an essay on the basis of their own viewpoints.
That’s all for my teaching plan about this lesson, thanks!。
