摘要：PURPOSE:To obtain a glassy carbon containing uniformly dispersed whiskers and having improved mechanical strength by mixing a precondensate of a thermosetting resin with whiskers, curing the mixture under heating in agravic state or under very small gravity and calcining and carbonizing the cured product. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of a thermosetting resin precondensate and whiskers is cured under heating in agravic state or under very small gravity and the cured product is calcined and carbonized to obtain the objective glassy carbon. The whisker is a heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant ceramic whisker having high specific strength and specific modulus as an acicular crystal having a diameter of 0.1-1mum and a length of 30-100mum, e.g., whisker of SiC, Si3N4 or AlN. The agravic state or the state of very small gravity can be attained e.g., by using a field generated in a rocket during trajectory flight, generated by the nose diving of an aeroplane, generated by the free drop from a balloon or a falling tower or generated in space using an artificial satellite, space shuttle, space station, etc.
