To read some new words and phrases in the passage.

scanning

Step 1. Fasting reading
1.Listen to the tape and answer these three questions:
1). Which two musical bands were mentioned in the passage?
2). When did the Monkees break and when did it reunite?
3). When did the Monkees celebrate their time as a real band?
2.Read the whole passage fast and match the right main idea of each paragraph. Para 1. The Monkees started in a different way,
Para 2. Many people want to be famous as singers or musicians.
Para 3. How the Monkees became popular and how they developed as a real band. Para 4. This is how most bands start.
Step 2. Careful reading
Read the passage again and join the correct parts of the sentences together.
