This is the first lesson in this module. The listening material is information about photos. It’s a good text to help the students improve their listening strategies, such as getting information from the listening material.
教学目标

Step II While-listening
(I) Listen and find out something about Last year’s photo competition
I. Who was the winner of the photo competition last year?

( II ) Listen and find out something about this year’s photo competition
【设计意图】
通过设计由浅入深、不同层次的听力问题,使学生学习运用who引导的定语从句,同时培养学生把握对话主旨、听并获取细节信息的能力,通过两遍听力,锻炼学生的听力,促进学生听力水平的提高。
Step III Post-listening
(I) Read and answer the questions.
1. What did He Zhong do last year?
2. Which subject does Daming suggest Tony should choose?
3. Where is Tony’s real home town?
4. What does Daming suggest Tony should do?
5. What does Tony think of Daming’s suggestion?
(II) Find the words in the box in Activity 3.
1. “The general standard of the competition...” means _________.
a). the skills of some people in the competition
b). the level of most people in the competition
2 “... solve those little difficulties.” This means to _________.
a). deal with the problems b). correct the mistakes
3. “... add some photos of Cambridge...” This means to _________.
a). put some photos in b). take some photos away

2. 掌握who引导的定语从句的用法。
Step IV. Language points
1. You bet! 的确,当然,一定。
通常用于口语中,相当于“sure/certainly”.
They won’t make it, you bet.他们肯定办不成。
You bet I do. 我当然行。
2. He’s the boy who won the photo competition last year!他就是去年赢了摄影比赛的那个男孩。
本句中,定语从句所修饰的先行词是人(the photographer),所以定语从句由who 引导。
who 在定语从句中可以作主语,也可以作宾语,作宾语时who可以省略。
3. The one who took photos at the school dance? 就是那个在学校舞会上拍照片的男孩吗?took photos拍照
4. The thing is事实上;实际上;这件事是这样的……之类的意思,用来解释或者阐述一件事情。
But the thing is we’re both adults , okay?但是事情是我们都是成人了,对吗?
5. I have a feeling that we can solve those little difficulties. 我有种感觉我们可以解决这些小问题。
(1) feeling 感觉;直觉看法
I have a feeling that we are being followed.我感觉我们正在被人跟踪。
(2) difficulty 困难,困境
Have you any concrete thoughts on how to deal with the difficulty?处理这一困难你有什么具体的看法?
6. Take some photos of Beijing and add some photos…拍一些北京的图片,加上一些图片…
add “增加”,通常与介词to 连用。
即add.. to…把…加到…中去。
If you add 6 to 4, you get 10. 6加4等于10。
拓展: (1). add to 表示“增加,添加”
The soldier were extremely tired and the heavy rain added to their difficulty.
战士们累极了,而大雨更是增加了他们的困难。
(2) add…up表示“把…加起来”
Can you add these ten figures up? 你能把这十个数字加起来吗
add up to…“加起来总和为…”
All these figures add up to 10.所有这些数字加起来总和为10.

Step V. Speaking
(I) Listen and mark the words which the speaker links.
1. Take some photos of Beijing and add some photos of Cambridge that you took recently.
2. What about that photo of my cousin flying kites with Chinese kids in the Summer Palace?
3. And the one of him reading a Chinese menu for the first time in Cambridge?
(II)Work in pairs. Describe photos and guess.
—There’s a basketball player who’s scoring a point.
—Is it in Module 8?

1. 练习句子连读
2.通过对话的方式,充分运用who引导的定语从句(谈论照片)把所学知识加以巩固。
3. 学会描述图片。

I. Read the dialogue in Unit 1 twice.
II. Find out information about your favorite photo and talk about it with your partner.
