Teenage smoking soars China now has experienced an alarming increase in the teenage smoking. In the past decade the rate of teenage smoking has almost tripled: it rose from 8 percent in 1982 to 23 percent in 1992. At the same time, the age of the smokers has dropped: they began to smoke at an earlier age---some as young as 7 years old. Even worse, more and more girls are taking up smoking. The statistics look disturbing.
