Teaching Aims
1. Knowledge Objects
(1) Function: ①Learn to describe and talk about the health problems and accidents.②Learn to give others some right advice according to their problems.
(2)Key Vocabulary: matter, sore, throat, stomachache, foot, neck, stomach, fever, lie, rest, cough, toothache, headache, have a sore back, have a stomachache, have a cold, lie down, see a dentist, get an X-ray, take one’s temperature, have a fever, have a headache, take breaks, in the same way, go to a doctor
(3)Target Language:①What’s the matter? I have a stomachache./ I have a sore back. / I have a cold. She has a very sore throat. ③My head feels very hot. What should I do?
I think you should lie down and rest.
(4)Structure:①have a+ the names of the illness②

2. Ability Objects
Enable students to talk about health problems and give advice with the language points.
3. Moral Objects
(1)Improve the cooperative spirit through pair work and role playing.
(2)Students care more about themselves and their family members’ health.
Teaching Key Points
1. Learn and master the parts of the body, the names of the illness and the expressions of giving advice.
2. Learn to talk about health problems by using “What’s the matter? I have a…” and give advice by using “should”.
Teaching Difficult Points
1. Learn to talk about health problems by using “What’s the matter? I have a…”.
2. Learn to give appropriate advice to the certain health problems.
Unit 1 What’s the matter?
Period 1 Section A (1a-1c)
学时目标
1. Knowledge Objects:
(1) Ss can use the following words:head, ear, eye, mouth,
nose, throat , neck, back, hand, arm, leg, tooth-teeth, foot-feet , matter, have a cold, stomachache, backache, headache, toothache.
(2) Ss can use the following sentence patterns:What’s the
matter?
I have a stomachache. /I have a sore back. /I have a cold. He/She has a sore throat.
2. Ability Object:
Enable students to talk about health problems using target language.
3. Emotion Object:
Learn to talk about the health problems and give care to others.
Learn how to talk about health, use have/has to talk about health problems.
Learn the English names of different parts of human body and talk about various health problems.
教学活动
Step 1 Warming-up (3 minutes)
Let students do the actions as the teacher says .
(设计意图:通过身体部位名称的复习为表述身体部位出现问题的教学作铺垫。
)
Step 2 Word study (4 minutes)
1. T: Are you happy? S: Yes, we are. T: When we’re happy, we can clap our hands and stamp our feet. Hands and feet are parts of our body. Do you know other parts of our body in English?
2. Teach the parts of the body. While teaching one, let them touch or show it.
(设计意图:用图片来教学新的单词,直观、形象生动。
)
3. Present a picture of Pan Changjiang. Let the Ss say the parts of his body.
(设计意图:用明星的图片激发学生的兴趣,有利于单词的巩固记忆。
)
4. Memory game.
Step 3 Practice (3 minutes)
1. Ask the students to look at the pictures of the students
numbered 1 through 5.Several body parts are marked with the letters a –m. Write the correct letter after the name of each body part on the list.
2. Get the students to discuss and complete by themselves.
3. Check answers and read aloud.
Step 4 Presentation and practice (10 minutes)
1. T: Now I see you are happy, but some people are not happy. Let’s look!
There’s something wrong with their bodies.
T: Look at the picture, is he happy?
Ss: No, he isn’t.
(设计意图:以happy这个单词自然地引出the man who’s not happy because he has have a (bad) cold.为下面引出其他人的种种不适做铺垫。
)
2. Present other pictures, talk about health problems of the persons in the pictures. What’s the matter? He/She has a headache/ toothache /a sore back/ a sore throat/a cold and a cough.
(设计意图:用形象生动的图片来引出本课要掌握的句型,有利于学生对新知识的掌握。
)
3. Grammar focus.
What’s the matter with sb?= What’s the trouble with sb?= What’s wrong with sb?
注:with为介词,后跟人称代词宾格,如her,him,them等。
eg:What’s the matter with your mother?What’s wrong with you?What’s the trouble with her?
在英语中,表达“疼痛或不舒服”时的常用结构:
(1)主语+have/has+a 病症
have a cold/fever
(2)主语+have/has+a+sore+发病部位
sore 是一个独立的形容词,指的是身体某一部位的酸痛。
如:sore back, sore throat, sore neck.
(3)主语+have/has+a+部位-ache
-ache作后缀,常与表示身体部位的名词合成一个新词,表身体某部位疼痛,如:toothache , headache , stomachache .
4. T: Suppose there is something wrong with your body,
Make a model dialogue.
T: What’s the matter?
S: I have a headache.
Let the Ss practice in pairs.
(设计意图:以对话的形式来操练句型,巩固新句型的使用。
从第三人称过渡到第一人称,对学生来说是简单了。
加上两句话来学校表达自己对他人生病的情感。
)
Step 5 listening (5 minutes)
Task 2:1b.Work on Section A 1b, listen and number the names 1-5.
1. Get the class to look and read the names in 1b quickly.
2. Listen to tape twice and find the correct answers.
3. Listen to the tape again. Then ask them to role play the
conversations in pairs like this:
Sa: What’s the matter, Nancy?
Sb: I have a headache.
Step 6 Exercises (9 minutes)
汉译英。
1.你怎么了?我牙痛.
2.他怎么了?他头痛。
3.Nancy怎么了?她喉咙很痛。
4.I have a bad cold .(对画线部分提问)
5.She has a stomachache.(改为一般问句并作肯定回答)
6.What’s the matter with Judy?(同义句,不止一个)
Step 9 Summary (3 minutes)
1.Ask students to sum up the parts of a body and the names of illness.
