My Hometown: The Amazing City of Xi'an
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming, and I'm a 10-year-old student from the incredible city of Xi'an. I absolutely love my hometown, and I can't wait to tell you all about it!
Xi'an is one of the oldest cities in China, with a history dating back over 3,000 years! It used to be the capital of ancient dynasties like the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang. Can you imagine how many cool historical sites and relics there are to explore?
One of the most famous attractions in Xi'an is the Terracotta Army. These life-sized sculptures of soldiers, horses, and chariots were buried underground to guard the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. When archaeologists discovered them in 1974, it was like stepping into an ancient world frozen in time! Each warrior has a unique facial expression and details, which is just mind-blowing.
Another must-see spot is the ancient City Wall, which used to protect Xi'an from invaders. It's one of the best-preserved ancient city walls in China, and you can even rent a bike or take a golf cart to ride along the top of the wall! It's super fun and gives you an incredible view of the city.
But Xi'an isn't just about history – it's also a modern, vibrant city with lots of cool things to do and see. One of my favorite places is the Muslim Quarter, where you can find all kinds of delicious street food, like roujiamo (shredded pork burger), yangrou paomo (lamb soup with bread), and persimmon cakes. The smells and flavors will make your mouth water!
Speaking of food, Xi'an is famous for its unique cuisine, which combines flavors from different cultures that passed through the city along the ancient Silk Road. My Hometown - The Amazing Xi'an City!
Hi there! My name is Lily, and I'm 10 years old. I want to tell you all about my awesome hometown, Xi'an! It's the capital of Shaanxi Province in central China, and it's one of the oldest cities in the whole country. Let me share some really cool facts about Xi'an that I've learned.
First up, Xi'an has a super long history dating back over
3,000 years! Can you believe it? It used to be the capital of ancient dynasties like the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang empires. That's why it's called "the birthplace of ancient Chinese civilization." There are so many incredible historical sites and relics left behind from those times.
The most famous one is probably the Terracotta Warriors! These life-sized soldier statues were buried with China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to protect him in the afterlife. Each warrior has a different facial expression and was individually crafted. Over 8,000 of them were discovered in 1974, and they're just mind-blowing! I got to see them up close during a school trip, and they looked like real soldiers standing at attention. So cool!
Another must-see place in Xi'an is the City Wall. It's the largest and best-preserved ancient city wall on Earth! Built during the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century, the wall is 12 meters (39 feet) tall, 12-14 meters (39-46 feet) wide at the top, and extends over 13.7 kilometers (8.5 miles) in length. You can actually rent a bike or take a golf cart to travel along the entire wall and enjoy amazing views of Xi'an. My family and I love doing that!
Xi'an is also famous for its delicious food. The signature dish is Roujiamo, which is basically a Chinese burger with shredded juicy pork stuffed inside a crispy flatbread. It's the best street food ever! Another yummy local specialty is Liang Pi, which are long, chewy noodles made of wheat or rice flour, topped with a savory sauce and lots of fresh veggies. My mouth is watering just thinking about them!
Although Xi'an has a ton of history, it's not a boring old city at all. There are loads of fun modern attractions too! The Qujiang Pool & Waterpark is a gigantic water park with crazy slides, a wave pool, lazy river, and more. It's the perfect place to beat the summer heat. They also have an artificial beach with real sand brought in from Hainan Island! How cool is that?
If you visit during winter, you have to check out the Tang Paradise theme park. It recreates the prosperity and entertainment of the ancient Tang Dynasty through dance performances, light shows, virtual reality experiences and more. The highlight is the Zen Music Drainage, which features thousands of fountains choreographed to traditional music and lights. It's breathtakingly beautiful!
I could go on and on about why Xi'an is the best city ever, but I'm running out of space here. From its rich history and
archaeological treasures, to its bustling modern amenities and mouth-watering cuisine, Xi'an truly has something for everyone.

One of the most famous attractions is the Terracotta Warriors. These life-sized sculptures were buried underground for over 2,000 years before being discovered by farmers in 1974. They were created to guard the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. Each warrior is unique, with different facial features and expressions. It's mind-blowing to think about the skill and effort that went into crafting these thousands of intricate statues so long ago!
Another must-see site is the ancient City Wall. It's one of the oldest and best-preserved city walls on Earth, dating back to the 14th century. It's so flavorful and messy to eat - I always end up with cumin spices all over my face! Another Xi'an specialty is the hand-pulled noodles. Watching the noodle masters stretch and twirl the dough into long, chewy noodles is like watching an art performance.
There's just so much to see and do in Xi'an, I could go on and on. From seeing the incredible Terracotta Army up close to
walking along the ancient City Wall to eating all the delicious local foods, this city is a living museum and feast for the senses. I feel so lucky to call Xi'an my home. My Favorite City - Xi'an
Hi everyone! I want to tell you all about my favorite city in China - Xi'an. It's the capital of Shaanxi Province and one of the oldest cities in my country. I love Xi'an because it has so much amazing history and culture. Get ready to learn some cool facts!
First, let me tell you about the famous Terracotta Warriors. They are life-size soldier statues made of terracotta (that means baked clay). There are thousands and thousands of them! They were buried underground with the first emperor of China over 2,000 years ago to protect him in the afterlife. Can you imagine that many clay warrior statues? It's mind-blowing!
The Terracotta Warriors were accidentally discovered in 1974 by some farmers digging a well. Archaeologists have been carefully uncovering and studying them ever since. Each warrior statue is unique with different facial features and details. Some
were generals, infantrymen, archers, and more. There are also horses and chariots! You can see the excavation pits they were buried in at the museum site. It's one of the most famous archaeological finds ever.
Speaking of old stuff, the City Wall in Xi'an is over 600 years old! It used to protect the city from invaders. You can walk, bike, or even take a little train along the top of the massive wall. It goes around the entire old city center in a huge rectangle. The views from up there are incredible!
Inside the ancient City Wall is the Muslim Quarter. This area has been home to a Muslim community for centuries. You can find mosques, as well as yummy food like persimmon chips, lamb kebabs, and other tasty snacks. The sights, sounds, and smells make you feel like you've traveled back in time. Don't miss the famous Drum Tower and Bell Tower while you're there.
Another cool place is the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. A pagoda is a tower with multiple levels and stories. This one is a massive 210 feet tall! It was built in the 7th century to store Buddhist scriptures and artifacts brought from India on the Silk Road. At night, they light it up and it looks magical. You can walk through the pagoda grounds and see artifacts on display. There's even a massive iron Buddha statue!
Speaking of the Silk Road, that was an ancient network of trade routes that connected Chang'an (Xi'an's old name) to Europe, India, Persia and more. Merchants would travel these routes trading goods like silk, spices, and precious stones. All sorts of cultures mixed together in Xi'an because of the Silk Road. How awesome is that?
Wow, I've talked a lot about the history and food, but Xi'an also has fun modern attractions. Like the Qujiang Eco-Corridor, which has gardens, lakes, and playgrounds. Or the Daming Palace National Heritage Park with its light shows and archaeological exhibits. You could spend weeks in Xi'an and still not see everything!
I feel so lucky to live in Xi'an and learn about its incredible history and culture every day. From the Terracotta Warriors to the Buddhist pagodas, Silk Road sites to the amazing food - it's all fascinatingly ancient yet modern at the same time. Xi'an is the capital city of Shaanxi Province in China, and it has a rich history that goes back over 3,000 years! Can you believe that? It was once the starting point of the famous Silk Road, which was an ancient trade route that connected China with the rest of the world. Isn't that cool?
One of the most famous landmarks in Xi'an is the Terra Cotta Warriors. These are thousands of life-sized clay soldiers that were buried underground to guard the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, who was the first emperor of China. When you visit the museum, you can see rows and rows of these impressive warriors, each with a unique facial expression and posture. It's like stepping back in time!

My Home City - Xi'an

Xi'an is the capital of Shaanxi Province in northwest China. It has a really long history going back over 3,000 years! Xi'an used to be the capital of ancient dynasties like the Zhou, Qin, Han, and
Tang. Because of this, it is one of the Four Great Ancient Capital Cities of China. Isn't that so cool?
The city center of Xi'an has a shape that reminds me of a rectangle. It's surrounded by a big, thick city wall that was first built during the ancient Ming Dynasty over 600 years ago. The city wall is so huge – it goes on for almost 14 kilometers! You can actually walk or even bike along the top of the wall. My dad took me up there once and the view over the city was breathtaking.
One of the most iconic landmarks of Xi'an is its Bell Tower. This enormous bell tower stands in the very heart of the city. It has been around since the 1300s during the Yuan Dynasty! At night, the whole tower is beautifully lit up. My friends and I always try to spot it when we're out playing after dinner.
Another must-see sight is the Drum Tower, located just to the west of the Bell Tower. As you can guess from the name, this tower historically had huge drums that were beaten to mark the passing of time. Nowadays it's just for decoration but it looks awesome looming over the Muslim Quarter nearby.
Speaking of the Muslim Quarter, that's one of my favorite places in all of Xi'an! This big neighborhood is filled with narrow lanes and alleyways crammed with shops, restaurants, and vendors. You can find all sorts of delicious local snacks and
dishes there like roujiamo (delicious meat sandwiches), biangbiang noodles, and pomegranate juice. Just walking through the Muslim Quarter is an adventure with its lively atmosphere and tempting aromas!
However, the most mind-blowing attraction in Xi'an has to be the Terracotta Warriors. There are thousands of individual warrior statues, with unique facial features carved into each one. It's amazing that they stayed so well preserved for over two millennia before being discovered in the 1970s!

The warriors are housed in a special museum that does a great job explaining their history and significance. Besides all the historic sites, Xi'an is also a modern, thriving city. We have world-class universities, museums, parks, restaurants and shopping. The city keeps on growing with new neighborhoods and tall skyscrapers constantly being built.
One of my favorite modern places in Xi'an is the Qujiang Eco-Corridor. This long park follows the path of Xi'an's city waterways, with walking trails, playgrounds, and green spaces. There are also restaurants, shops, and cultural exhibits situated along the corridor. I love renting a bike or trekking scooter with my family and cruising along the waterside paths. It's a great way to get outdoors and explore the city!
As you can probably tell, I'm really proud to call amazing
