Dear Editor,
I’m a middle school student. I’m writing to tell you 51 children who are left-behind(留守儿童) in towns around the country. Now, our city is 52 more and more modern. That makes a lot of parents 53 their hometowns to work on building the cities. But when they work in the cities, their children are waiting for them at home. One of the most serious 54 is the loneliness(孤独). These left-behind children are always 55 and stressed out because they lack(缺少) parents’love. At the same time, nobody can teach them the 56 between right and wrong. So, It’s easier for these children to make 57 ,or even break laws(法律). It’s very important for us to pay more attention to these children 58 we want to build a harmonious society(和谐社会).
So how do we 59 this problem? Most of the left-behind children say they miss their parents a lot, especially during holidays. Maybe the government can set up special group activities and meals for these children during holidays. Of course, the best thing for these families is to be together. As the song says, ”If 60 gives their love, the world will
be better.”
Best wishes to you!
Sincerely,

DNA is the whole “map” of the human body. It is something that all humans have, and it tells the body what to do . DNA is the reason that we look like our parents, because we get some of their DNA to make our own.
People have been trying to understand the human body for a long time. In 1860, Mr Mendel discovered why we look the same as other people in our family. It is because of small things called “genes”(基因) in our body. In 1953, two scientists, Watson and Crick, found out that those small parts are really messages. They’re written in the DNA with a special language.
In 1961, another two scientists found the first “word” that they could understand in that language. It shows how DNA tells the cell(细胞) to build its parts. So far, scientists have found all the words in the DNA map, but we still do not unde rstand what they all do . By understanding what just one “word ” means, we can help to save people from several illnesses. So the more we understand, the more doctors will be able to do.
Most people hope that this will help to make bet ter medicine and help sick people. Other people worry that when we learn more “words”and find out more information, we will use it in the wrong way, just to make people more attractive(有吸引力的), or stop sick people getting jobs.

Your brain controls everything you do. It makes it possible for you to think, learn, create and feel; to blink(眨眼) and breathe and for your heart to beat----this fantastic control center is your brain. It is so amazing that a famous scientist once called it “the most complex(复杂) thing in our universe”.
Can this small grey organ(器官) really do so much? Amazingly, your brain contains about 100 billion neurons(神经元) –---it would take you over 3,000 years to count them all. Believe it or not ,the activity in your brain never stops. Your neurons create and send more messages than all the phones in the world. And although one neuron creates only a little electricity, all your neurons together can produce enough electricity to power(点亮) a light bulb(灯泡).
So exactly how fast does your brain work? Well, imagine this: a bee lands on your foot. Neurons in your skin send this information to your brain at a speed of more than 240 kilometers per hour. Your brain then uses other neurons to send the message back to your foot to shake the bee off quickly. These neurons can send this information at more than 320 kilometers per hour. No computer has your brain’s unbelievable ability to deal with the amount of information coming from your eyes, ears and other sensory organs.
But how does your brain allow you to learn things that you will use in the future? The structure(结构) of your brain changes every time you have a new thought, remember or learn something. For example, riding a bike seems impossible at first, but soon you are able to do it. How? As you practice, your brain sends “ bike riding” messages again and again.
Soon, the actions are learnt and you are able to ride a bike easily from then on .

B. what an unbelievable organ the human brain is
C. how the brain makes people smarter than computers
D. the things you can do to make your brain work faster

76 The answer for most people would be yes. But where does our rubbish go?
It doesn’t just sit in the rubbish bin. Every day, workers come to take the rubbish from our rubbish bins. They put it into a big truck an d carry it to landfills(垃圾填埋场). At the landfill, people sort(分类) the rubbish, They recycle some, burn some and bury(埋) some of it underground. 77 It means that less rubbish ends up in landfills. Landfills can also be bad for the environment.
So many Chinese cities encourage everyone to sort out their rubbish before throwing it away. Put the food in one bag. Put the plastic bottles in another. And throw them in the right rubbish bins. In this way, we can help save a lot of time, money and energy for all of society.
78 so they have higher recycling rates(比率). In Sweden, only 4 percent of household waste ends up in landfills every year. In Japan, people recycle mearly 50 percent
of all r ubbish.
There is still a lot to do when it comes to rubbish sorting in China. People in the country make about 300 million tons of rubbish every year. 79 The rest of it ends up in landfills. Most of it is unsorted. The good news is that many cities are trying different ways to make things better. Beijing will start a mew program to improve rubbish sorting next year. If people sort out their rubbish, they’ll get WeChat bonus points.
