主旨大意题专练(三)——段落大意类A[2019·济南高三模拟] Can I talk about salary at work? In a word:yes. As the HR company Insperity put it in a recent blog post: Can your employees discuss their salaries or wages with their coworkers? Yes. Even if you have a company polic y against it? Yes.The freedom to discuss your salary at work is a protected right under the labor law. The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 protects your right to discuss the conditions of your employment, including issues related to safety and pay, even when you're not protected by a union.Talking about salary with colleagues can be uncomfortable, since there's such a taboo about discussing money matters, but it's an important step towards achieving equal pay for equal work. One barrier, however, stems from how we think of our own financial worth. Too many people I talk to wrongly consider their salary a reflection of their worthiness, a statement about their skills, experience, or value. At the end of the day, if we can all separate our sel fworth from our salaries a bit more, it'll become easier to talk frankly with our colleagues.Asking about money outright can be tough, so one trick I've picked up along the way is to ask for your colleagues to confirm or deny. For instance, you might volunteer your salary first and ask “Does that sound right to you?” by way of comparison. Or, let's say you're interviewing for a promotion to become a manager. You might ask a fellow manager about the kind of salary you should expect by saying, “I'm se eing salaries for this kind of position ranging from $65,000 to $70,000 —does that seem accurate to you?” This way, even if your colleague isn't comfortable sharing their salary outright, they can help you identify if your expectations are appropriate.体裁:议论文题材:社会生活主题:谈论薪金【语篇解读】本文是一篇议论文,讨论了是否可以在工作中谈论薪金的问题。

In one study, Dr. Prinstein examined the two types of popularity in 235 adolescents, scoring the least liked, the most liked and the highest in status based on student surveys(调查研究).“We found that the least well-liked teens had become more aggressive over time toward their classmates. But so had those who were high in status. It clearly showed that while likability can lead to healthy adjustment, high status has just the opposite effect on us.”

主旨大意类A(2023·湖南省岳阳市高三二模)At all hours of the day, white-aproned bakers occupy themselves in working in the Hot Bread Kitchen, throwing flour across butcher-block tables, filling metal trays with hand-shaped bread, and shifting steaming, fresh bread to cooling shelves. The only bodies at rest in this New York City bakery are pans with bread, waiting to be sent into the oven. The skilled bakers turn out around 25 varieties ranging from classic French baguettes to crisp Armenian lavash crackers—which they sell at farmers' markets and gourmet stores. But Hot Bread Kitchen is more than a bakery: It's a nonprofit designed to give foreign-born women the skills and support they need to establish careers in the culinary arts.Overseeing daily operation of the place—and often rolling up her own shirt sleeves to involve in—is 35-year-old founder and CEO Jessamyn Rodriguez.By mixing her lifelong passion for society with great food, Rodriguez says she has created her dream job.In 2008, Rodriguez launched the bakery in the small Brooklyn apartment she shared with roommates, hiring two immigrant women as her first bakers.“I was definitely breaking new ground, and we faced a lot of skeptics,” she says of those early days.“But for every person who questioned it, there were five people who were interested in supporting us.” Today, Hot Bread Kitchen employs a staff of 35 and occupies a nearly 5,000-square-foot space in La Marqueta, a public market in East Harlem. The women who bake and package Hot Bread Kitchen's offerings range in age from 21 to 60.Coming from lands such as Haiti, Nepal, and the Dominican Republic, some have lived in the U.S.for as little as a year.Others, including production manager Antonia Garcia, who is originally from Mexico, have called America home for more than a decade. These women's diverse homelands are reflected in many of the bakery's products, like heritage tortillas and the wildly popular m'smen, a buttery bread. The program has far surpassed Rodriguez's original hopes.Since its humble beginnings, Hot Bread Kitchen has trained 27 women from 12 countries. They receive paid, on-the-job experience, as well as courses in bakery sciences, and English as part of a yearlong training program.1.What does the first paragraph mainly talk about?A.Constant activity of skilled workers.B.Varieties of fresh baked goods.C.Many different types of equipment used in bakeries.D.Difficult working conditions of bakery employees.2.Which of the following can best describe Jessamyn Rodriguez?A.Adventurous and modest.B.Ambitious and gifted.C.Hard-working and courageous.D.Devoted and stubborn.3.How does the author establish the diversity of Hot Bread Kitchen?A.By describing the courses offered to employees.B.By introducing the backgrounds of the employees.C.By describing the bakery's location at La Marqueta.D.By introducing the bakery's development since 2008.4.What is the main idea of the article?A.Employees from diverse homelands produce various products.B.The hardworking women have helped Hot Bread Kitchen develop quickly.C.Rodriguez became a successful baker after establishing Hot Bread Kitchen.D.Hot Bread Kitchen provides professional opportunities for immigrant women.【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文。

I saw many unfortunate events. However, there was also the bright news that confirmed the goodness of mankind. As a journalist, I wrote many humaninterest stories during my career. That’s why the story about the guys in the bakery caught my eye. When the staff at a Mexican bakery chain in Houston were trapped inside the building for two days, they didn’t sit there feeling sorry for themselves. They used their time wisely after flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. While they were waiting for the eventual rescue that came on Monday morning, four decided to make as many loaves of bread as possible for their community. The flood water rose in the street outside. They took advantage of their emergency power supply to bake bread. They used more than 4,200 pounds of flour to create hundreds of loaves and sheets of sweet bread. Although the water kept rising, they continued baking to help more people. By the time the owner managed to get to them, they had made so much bread that they took the loaves to loads of emergency centers across the city for people affected by the floods. The store manager, Brian Alvarado, told TheIndependent, “Whenever a disaster occurs, nobody should just feel forlorn. Instead, we should take positive action to save ourselves and help others. Our acts of kindness will make a big difference.〞【解题导语】本文是一篇记叙文。

B(2017·福建龙岩质检)I imagine there might be a footballer or two who has woken from a terrifying dream where they can't see the ball, or the coming opposite player. In the middle of the game, they've ended up lost, unable to momentarily know in which direction they are playing. Such is the usual world for players in blind football where getting the wrong direction on the pitch (球场) is only an occasional problem, quickly corrected.Blind football is played worldwide, in England, in Japan, in China and so on. The rules are simple, the action fast. The ball is filled with ball bearings that make sounds as the ball moves, enabling the players to spot the ball very accurately — although if the ball is too fast or too slow, the sound becomes small and spotting it is harder. It's fiveaside, including a sighted goalkeeper but plus a “caller” for your team behind the opponent's goal. All the players on the pitch wear a blindfold to avoid any potential cheating from anyone sighted or partially sighted. But many players are totally blind. For example, Japanese player, Yasuhiro Sasaki, can see nothing, though he was partially sighted when younger, when he was a fan of regular football. The “caller” is an essential aid to the players, calling out directions to the ball, and, importantly, distance and angle to the goal. A caller has to be quickminded and train withteammembers. Now happily, many people come to blind football “from an interest in football foremost, rather than any interest in the disability”. All in all, blind football might become popular with more blind people.语篇解读:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了盲人足球的相关情况。
