A thief who dropped a winning lottery ticket彩票)at the scene of his crime has been given a lesson in honesty。

His victim(受害者), who picked up the ticket, then claimed the £25000 prize, managed to trace him, and handed over the cash. The robbery happened when maths professor Vinicio Sabbatucci, 58, was changing a tire on an Italian motorway. Another motorist, who stopped to "to help”,stole a suitcase from his car and drove off. The professor found the dropped ticket and put it in his pocket before driving home to Ascoli in eastern Italy。

Next day, he saw the lottery results on TV and, taking out the ticket, realized it was a winner. He claimed the 60 million lire(里拉)prize。

He advertised in newspapers and on radio, saying: ”I’m trying to find the man who robbed me. I have 60 million lire for him— a lottery win. Please meet me. Anonymously(匿名)guaranteed。

Professor Sabbatucci received hundreds of calls from people hoping to trick him into handing them the cash。

But there was one voice he recognized---—and he arranged to meet the man in a park. The robber, a 35-year-old unemployed father of two, gave back the suitcase and burst into tears. He could not believe what was happening。

According to some researchers, you should not praise children for everything that they do。

It does not help them build self-confidence。

Most parents and teachers agree that praise can help increase children’s self-confidence —the more, the better。

However, according to some researchers, only proper praise is good for children。

If adults praise everything children do, it makes children look for praise all the time, not trying to do their best. ”Teachers should not say things like ’good job’ or 'nice work’ whenever a child does anything. They should encourage them to continue to improve,” some researchers advise。

Another idea is that children with high self—confidence are happier, and do better at school. About this, Marshall Duke, a researcher in children, says,”High self-confidence brought in by too much praise does not make children happier, get more, or become able to do more。

Finding a child's advantages (强项) and developing them can help build confidence more than too much praise can.” Praise also loses its effect (影响) if it is given equally to all students.
"It’s important to tell children the truth about what they’ve done. Honest feedback (反馈) is far better than empty praise," Duke adds. "People have got into the habit of not telling children when they're wrong。

That makes it hard for them to deal with difficulties when they grow up。

That’s just how the world is。

"

D. encourage them to improve
30. The underlined word "it” in the third paragraph refers to _________.
A. the effect
B. the praise
C. the advantage
D. the confidence
31。

What is the last paragraph about?
A. It’s important to have the habit of praising children.
B。

Children should know their mistakes as soon as possible。

C. We should praise children honestly and tell them their mistakes.

How many hours do you spend sitting in a chair every day? Eight hours in the office plus three hours in front of the TV after work is normal for many people。

You probably don’t need an expert to tell you that sitting too much is not good for your
health-from an increased risk of heart disease and obesity(肥胖)in the long term, to reduced cholesterol (胆固醇) maintenance in the short term.
A 2010 study of nearly 9,000 Australians found that for each additional hour of television a person watched per day, the risk of dying rose by 11%。

Another study tracked the health of 123,000 Americans between 1992 and 2006. The death rate for men who spent six hours or more per day sitting was about 20% higher than for men who sat for three hours or less。

So what can we do about it? Health experts suggest we break up those many hours spent sitting with more hours spent standing.
The BBC did a simple experiment with a group of 10 volunteers who usually spent most of the day sitting。

They were asked to stand for at least three hours a day。

The researchers took measurements when the volunteers stood and when they sat around. When they looked at the data, there were some striking differences, the BBC reported.
Blood sugar leveled off much quicker on the days when the study subjects stood compared with the days they spent in a chair. Standing also burned more calories-about 50 calories an hour. The researchers believe that even small adjustments, like standing while talking on the phone, will help.
32.What bad effect does sitting too much have?
A. A low risk of heart disease。

B. Becoming too fat。

C。

Balanced cholesterol maintenance。

D。

Benefiting your neck。

33。

What’s the main idea of Paragraph 3?
A。

Sitting is killing us.
B。

We should have a good diet.
C。

Watching TV does us no good.
D。

Women have higher death rate than men。

34。

What is the purpose of the experiment in the text?
A. To help the 10 volunteers to lose weight.
B. To find the difference between standing and sitting。

C。

To prove the benefit of standing.
D. To teach us how to control blood sugar。

35.What would be the best title for the text?
A。

Having regular exercise
B. Standing up for health
C. Watching less TV
