Unit 4 Don't eat in class. Section A (Grammar Focus-3c)
一、教学目标
1. 句型:
(1) Don't run in the hallways.
(2) —What are the rules?
—We must be on time for class.
(3) —Can we eat in the class room?
—No, we can't, but we can eat in the dining hall.
(4) —Can we wear a hat in the class?
—Yes, we can./No we can't.
(5) —Does he have to wear a uniform at school?
—Yes, he does./No, he doesn't.
(6) —What do you have to do?
—We have to be quiet in the library.
2. 语法:
(1) 能正确使用否定祈使句陈述规章要求;
(2) 能使用情态动词can表“许可”;
(3) 能正确使用must和have to谈论规章制度。

二、教学重点及难点.
重点:
1. 否定祈使句的用法;
2. 情态动词can表许可的用法;
3. 情态动词must和have to的用法和区别。

难点:
情态动词must和have to的用法和区别。

四、教学过程
Step 1. Revision
T divides the class into two groups and then lets Ss speak out the school rules as soon as possible.
T: Let's play a game. The whole class divides into two groups. All the boys are in one group. All
the girls are in the other group. Each group tries to speak out school rules as soon as possible.
Let's see which group is the winner.
【设计意图】通过分组抢说学校规章制度,活跃课堂气氛,帮助学生们复习巩固上节课学的内容。

Step 2. Presentation
Read and guess
Read the school rules and try to guess the grammar what they'll learn.

T: Look at the school rules we have learned last class. Today we'll Imperatives (Don't …)
【设计意图】通过系统学习,帮助学生掌握祈使句这一语法知识。

Step 3. Practice
Grammar exercises
1. Show some exercises from the senior high school entrance examination.
2. Let Ss finish them to consolidate what they have learned today.
3. Check the answers in the whole class.
【设计意图】通过让学生做近年中考题巩固祈使句这一重要语法点,检查学生对该语法点掌握情况的同时,也在体验中考题型的过程中加深对该语法点的巩固。

Work on 3a
1. Ss discuss the pictures and make some rules.
T: Look at 3a. Do you know the meaning of these pictures? Yeah, you see them in the school library. Can you write the rules for the school library?
2. Let some Ss read their rules aloud.
3. Check the answers with the class.
【设计意图】通过笔头输出练习,帮助学生巩固对祈使句的使用。

Step 4. Presentation
Read and circle
Ss read the sentences in Grammar Focus, and circle the modal verbs.
T: Read the sentences in Grammar Focus, and try to circle the modal verbs in the sentences. Then Try to answer the following questions:
圈出情态动词,情态动词在用法上有什么共同点?(1)
(2) can在本单元主要表示什么含义?它还可以表达什么意思?
(3) have to在句法上与其他的情态动词的区别?

【设计意图】通过读语法聚焦部分的句子,让学生们圈出语法词汇并思考该语法知识,提高学生们的主观能动性同时,系统学习本单元的语法知识。

Step 5. Practice
Work on 3b
1. Ss work by themselves and try to write the sentences.
T: Use the words to make questions about the rules. Then write answers according to your school.
For example:
Be quiet? (she/have to/ in the library)
Does she have to be quiet in the library?
Yes, she does.
【注意】have to虽是情态动词,但其在句子中与谓语动词共同构成句子时,其一般疑问句应用助动词do或does来帮助构成;而情态动词can则直接提前构成一般疑问句式。

2. Ss work in pairs. Ask and answer the sentences.
Step 6. Production
Work on 3c
1. Ss work in groups and discuss what rules are in their dream schools.
T: Everybody has a dream school. Suppose you're the headmaster of the Coolest School. You can
make rules for your school. Make up five cool rules for your dream school.
2. Write down their rules on the work.
3. Let some Ss read their rules aloud.

Step 7. Summary
T: Let's summarize what we have learned today.
1. Imperatives (Don't …)
祈使句用法口诀:
祈使句,表请求、命令或禁止。

主语是you常省去,动词原形开头记忆。

否定形式要注意,把don't放到句首去。

要讲客气用please,句首、句末没关系。

2. Modal verbs: can, must, have to
情态动词用法口诀:
情态动词两要点:动词原形跟后面,说话语气较委婉。

can表能力,may 表许可。

must表“责任”或“义务”,否定回答needn't换。

“需要”need,dare“敢”。

should“应该”,would“愿”,have to“被迫”表客观。

【设计意图】引导学生回顾本节课的重点内容。
