1.The Importance of Confidence Whatever one does one should do it with confidence. If one had no confidence there is little possibility that one would ever achieve anything especially when one is faced with drawbacks or
hardships. This truth seems to be self-evident. However in reality we do see a lot of people who complain that they lack the ability to do something or that their difficulties are too great to overcome. For some this might be true. But for many this only shows that they have lost heart. Why do people often feel frustrated even though they are quite capable of doing something? There are among others two main reasons. First these people do not have a correct estimate of themselves. Second they overestimate the difficulties. It is possible to build up faith in oneself by having the fight attitude to one's own abilities. We should never underestimate our abilities but should believe in the proverb: "There is a will there is a way." Confidence is the premise for fulfilling a task successfully. The Importance of Confidence Whatever one does, one should do it with confidence. 3.Should High School Students Study Abroad? In this global village more and more Chinese are studying abroad and the age of overseas students is falling. As to whether high school students should join the trend people have split views. According to a study in X city 65% of the people go in for it while 35% are opposed to it. The proponents believe studying abroad is a good thing if circumstances allowed. First going abroad offers a foreign language environment. Also students may experience another education system and life
style. Moreover high school students can foster a sense of independence in order to better prepare for the future. However some people still hold reservation. One of the concerns is the high tuition fee and living costs. Another is that some students may abuse freedom due to lack of-discipline. Personally I am supportive of such a choice for young people like high school students. They can not only learn advanced technologies but also gain an insight into other cultures. As for the big costs students may apply for scholarships or do some part-time jobs. What is more studying abroad and parental supervision are not mutually exclusive. Thanks to modern communication facilities parents may offer constant encouragement and guidance from a distance.Should High School Students Study Abroad? 6.Travel-mate Wanted I'm a 19-year-old female sophomore named Li Ming. I hereby earnestly invite a foreign young lady--college student preferred--to make a three week touring trip with me. My plan is to set off next weekend when the summer vacation officially begins. The first stop is Kunming the world-renowned city for its beauty and mild temperature. We'll get there by train and stay for 2 days and then we'll head for Jinggangshan a former revolutionary base as well as a natural beauty spot. After a 3-day visit there we will take a long-distance coach to a nearby port city by the Yangtze River and board a downstream ship to Shanghai so that we can enjoy the great scenery alongside the third longest river in the world. As everybody knows Shanghai is one of the busiest and fastest developing cities in China. I'd like to have a good tour in Shanghai so the stay there will be about half a week. A famous Chinese saying goes "Just as there is Paradise in heaven there are Suzhou and Hangzhou on Earth" so a 4-day visit to these two cities near Shanghai is a must. All together our trip will last about three weeks. I only expect that my travel-mate could bear her own expenses and talk with me in beautiful English and I would be an excellent guide for her since I major in tourist guiding. 10.Solutions to Release of Testing Anxiety When taking an examination many students tend to become worried and nervous. Their minds cannot work as well as they usually do and even go numb. As a result they get low grades that do not show their real abilities. Many factors contribute to students' testing anxiety. One reason is that some students don't work hard enough and they don't try to develop good study habits. They don't preview lessons before class or review them after class. They seldom take notes in class and fail to hand in their assignments. Some students spend so much time playing computer games watching TV visiting friends and doing part-time jobs that they often miss classes and seldom think of their studies. Another reason is that some students don't feel confident in themselves and they are afraid of failures. Thus they become so tense in an exam that they don't know how to answer the questions. Then what a student should do in order to cope with such testing anxiety? The students need to develop good study habits and hard work
always pays off. Before taking a test effective reviewing is important but excessive work should be avoided. Too much work plus lack of sleep can create more stress and make you a dull boy. Remember you need a calm and clear mind on the exam day. Besides while taking a test the most important thing for you to do is keep your self-confidence. Of course some anxiety or tension is not unusual but too much tension will prevent you from performing as well as you are able to. You should try to be relaxed both physically and mentally. If you can overcome your nervousness you will let your mind work more efficiently and successfully in getting through the test.Solutions to Release of Testing Anxiety When taking an examination, many students tend to become worried and nervous. 11.protect partners from AIDSprotect partners from AIDS 解析:本题定位信息是Dr.

该段介绍了一组将ARVs用于防止艾滋病传播的试验,目的是为了证明using ARVs before exposure to HIV may have the same effect in protecting partners。

Dr. Peter Diot

12.intentionally.intentionally.
Marketing Violence to Young People部分。

该部分第一段第二句提到,a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) report revealed what many suspected:U.S. media corporations were routinely ignoring their own rating restrictions and actively marketing violent entertainment to children and teens。

如“Lee,I think London will prove to be a very big market for Cowboy Jeans.I'm sure of it” “I want to spend all day tomorrow writing my report.”

题干中的Duke University's recent study对应原文中的one recent Duke University study, recruited对应原文中的get picked,by top colleges对应原文中的for the best colleges。

If they want the current 50 or so residents to become 500 or 1 000.
