How I Get to School
By [Your Name]
Hi there! My name is [Your Name] and I'm in 7th grade. I'm going to tell you all about how I get to school each day. It's kind of a long trip but also pretty fun!
First thing in the morning, my mom wakes me up around 6:30am. I get dressed, brush my teeth, and head downstairs for breakfast. My favorite is waffles or pancakes, but most days I just have a bowl of cereal with milk. My little brother Sam is usually still sleeping so it's pretty quiet.
At 7:15, my dad honks the car horn from the driveway to let me know it's time to go. I grab my backpack full of books and stuff and run out to the car. My dad works downtown so he drops me off at the metro station on his way to the office.
When we get to the metro station parking lot, I hop out and my dad hands me a metro card to pay for my fare. I give him a
high five and he drives off to work. The great thing about the metro is there are no traffic jams or huge school buses to wait for. But the not so great thing is I have to figure out the train schedules and everything myself.
I check the electronic board that says when the next trains are coming. Hopefully it's just a couple of minutes because those metro stations can be kind of smelly and boring if you're there too long. When I see a train coming on the board, I get ready to go through the turnstile by swiping my card.
Downstairs on the platform, there are usually a bunch of other kids headed to school too. We all cluster around the doors, backpacks and all, waiting to pile in when they open. The trains come every 5-10 minutes typically.
Once on board, it's a tight squeeze and we're all packed in like sardines. I normally have to stand up and hold onto one of the poles since all the seats are taken. At least there's a backpack on my back to give me some extra cushion against the pole! The rides are pretty quick, around 15 minutes.
At my stop, the doors open and it's a mad dash to get off with everyone trying to exit at once. I follow the flow of the crowd up the escalators and long ramps and corridors until I finally get outside. Phew, made it!
The metro stop is only about a block away from my school, so it's a short walk from there. I have to be really careful crossing the busy streets though. Lots of cars honking and zooming by. I don't want to become a pancake!
When I get to campus, I go through the main entrance and my friends and I meetup at this courtyard area. We have 10-15 minutes before the first bell rings to hang out and discuss things like new video games, sports, or whatever drama happened over the weekend.
The warning bell goes off at 8:10am letting us know we have 5 minutes before class starts. We all start heading toward our classroom buildings, dodging all the crowds of kids going every which way. It gets pretty crazy in the hallways!
I slide into my 8:15 English class right before the late bell. Made it again! Just in time to pull out my notebook and get ready for another day of learning.
Phew, that's my typical routine for how I get to middle school every morning. Some times there are delays on the metro or I miss a train, but otherwise it's a pretty smooth journey. Way better than riding a big bus in my opinion! I like the independence and not having to Wake up super early.
Anyway, that's the scoop on my school commute. While it definitely took some getting used to at first, I've got it down to a science now. Thanks for reading all about it! Any questions about my trek? I'll do my best to fill you in. Okay, time for lunch...hopefully the cafeteria isn't too crazy today!

My Journey to School Every Day
Hi there! My name is Li Ming and I'm 13 years old. I'm a student in the 7th grade at Zhongshan Middle School here in Shanghai. Today I want to tell you all about how I get to school each morning. It's kind of a long trip but also pretty fun in some ways!
First off, I wake up at 6am every day. My mom comes into my room and gets me out of bed - I'm not a morning person at all so this is really hard! I get dressed in my school uniform which is a white shirt, red sweater vest, and blue pants. We've had the same uniform at my school for a very long time.
Next, I head to the kitchen for a quick breakfast. My mom always makes me a couple of eggs, some rice porridge with pickles and pork, and a glass of warm soymilk. Even though I'm not very hungry in the mornings, my mom says I need lots of
protein and energy to "feed my growing brain!" I try my best to eat it all.
After breakfast, I put on my shoes and backpack and am out the door by 6:45am. I take my backpack everywhere - it's where I keep all my textbooks, notebooks, pencil case, lunchbox, water bottle, you name it! The backpack itself is pretty plain but I've covered it with enamel pins of cartoon characters and bands I like. Totally customizes it to my style.
I take the same route to school every day. First, I walk about
10 minutes from my home to the nearest subway station. The subways here in Shanghai are really convenient - they go practically everywhere in the city and are hardly ever delayed. But they're always totally packed during rush hour times in the morning!
I have to do a bit of shoving to squeeze myself into the crowded subway car. I feel like a tiny fish swimming upstream! On the way I always have my face buried in a book - this month I'm reading the sixth book in the Harry Potter series. The subway ride takes about half an hour as I have to switch line halfway through. The subway is cool but the best part is when it comes aboveground for the final few stops and I can look out the windows at the city.
After getting off at my stop, I walk about 15 more minutes to Zhongshan Middle School. During this walk I have to be extra careful when crossing the major roads and intersections as the traffic here is absolute madness. Cars, buses, motorcycles, bikes, and people all going every which way! But I'm used to it by now.
I always cut through the small park on the way to school too. It has beautiful gardens with lots of flowers and bonsai trees. I like to take a minute to smell the roses and look at the Koi fish swimming in the pond. It's my little break before the stresses of school!
Finally, I arrive at the front gates of Zhongshan School. It's a really big campus with around 3000 students total. I always meet up with my friends in the courtyard right inside the main entrance. We chat, compare homework assignments, discuss classroom gossip, and mentally prepare ourselves for another day of studying!
The morning bell rings at 7:30am sharp. We quickly put away our backpacks and outdoor shoes and put on our indoor slippers. Then it's off to my homeroom class on the third floor. Our classes are really tough with a ton of homework and tests, but I actually enjoy learning! My favorite subjects are English, math, and classical Chinese literature.
Phew, that's my whole journey to school in the morning! Overall it takes me about an hour and 15 minutes door-to-door. The subways and streets are always crazy hectic. But I've gotten used to the routine over the years. To be honest, sometimes the travels itself is a nice break from the hustle and bustle of school life. I can rest my brain a bit and just exist in the moment. Maybe that's why the morning park is my favorite part!
Anyway, thanks for reading about my daily travels. The life of a middle school student in Shanghai is pretty intense. But I'm grateful for the opportunity to study hard, see my friends, and experience the electricity of this awesome city every single day! Hopefully my rambling gave you a little window into my world.

My Journey to School
Hi there! My name is Sophie and I'm going to tell you all about how I get to school each day. It's a bit of an adventure!
Every morning, my mom wakes me up at 7 AM. I don't like waking up that early, but I have to be ready for school. First thing I do is get dressed. I put on my favorite purple shirt with rainbows on it and a comfy pair of jeans. Then I brush my teeth really well and comb my hair so it looks neat.
Next, I go downstairs for breakfast. My mom always makes me something yummy like pancakes, scrambled eggs, or oatmeal. My favorite is when she makes french toast! While I'm eating, I pack up my backpack with all my school books, pencils, crayons, snacks, and a water bottle. I can't forget my lunchbox either!
Once I've double checked that I have everything, it's time to start my journey to school! I live pretty close by, but I can't walk there all by myself since I'm only 8 years old. Instead, I take a ride from my dad or sometimes my mom if she's not working that day.
We load up into our blue minivan and I get buckled into my booster seat in the back. Dad is always careful to make sure I'm buckled up super snug and secure. He says it's so I stay safe if we get into an accident, but I really hope that never happens!
The drive to school only takes about 10 minutes. We have to go down Main Street and turn right onto Oak Road. My school, Oakwood Elementary, is right there on the corner. Sometimes there's a lot of traffic from all the other kids getting dropped off too. Dad has to inch along very slowly and wait his turn to pull up to the drop-off circle.
When it's finally our turn, I grab my backpack and lunchbox and give my dad a big hug goodbye. A nice crossing guard lady helps me get across the street safely. Then I join my friends on the playground to wait for the bell to ring.
After playing for a bit, we all line up by class when the bell rings at 8:15 AM. My teacher, Mrs. Franklin, comes out to collect us. We say the Pledge of Allegiance together and then head inside to start our day of learning!
School lasts until 3 PM. Once the final bell rings, I go back out to the drop-off circle to wait for my mom or dad to come pick me up. Sometimes I have to wait a little while if they get stuck in traffic, but they always get there!
When I see our minivan pull up, I wave big so they can spot me easily. Then I buckle myself back into my booster seat. On the ride home, I tell my mom or dad everything I learned that day at school. I also let them know if I have any homework to do.
Sometimes we have to run errands on the way home like stopping at the grocery store or bank. Other times we can go straight home. Either way, I'm always glad to be done with my school day!
At home, I have a snack and hang out for a little bit. Then I start on any homework I have while it's fresh in my mind. I've got to get it done before I can go out and play!
Once my homework is finished, I love going outside and playing makebelieve games with my friends who live nearby. We run around, climb trees, and use our imaginations until it's time for dinner.
After I eat dinner with my family, I take a nice warm bath and get my pajamas on. I try to read a book or do a puzzle before bedtime. Then my parents tuck me in, say goodnight, and I drift off to sleep, ready to re-charge for another day of learning!
And that's the story of how this 8-year-old third grader gets to and from school each day. It takes a little bit of work, but I don't mind because school is fun! I get to see my friends, learn new things, and have all kinds of great adventures. Maybe your school journey is similar to mine!

My Journey to School Every Day
Hi there! My name is Emily and I'm a 7th grader at Central Middle School. I wanted to tell you all about the super cool
adventure I have every single day just getting to school! It's a pretty long trip but I actually really enjoy the journey. Let me explain how it all goes down.
The day starts bright and early at 6:30am when my mom's alarm clock goes off. She comes into my room to wake me up and I groan and try to pull the covers over my head. But mom is pretty strict about getting up on time for school. She gives me a nudge and I finally roll out of my cozy warm bed. I get dressed, brush my teeth, and head to the kitchen for breakfast.
At 7:15am, my dad walks the dog around the block while I munch on a bowl of cereal with fruit. My little brother Jake is already munching away at the table too. He's in 3rd grade so he has to leave for the elementary school a little earlier than me.
Once Jake heads out at 7:40am with my mom for his short walk to school, it's just me and my dad left at home. We hang out for a little bit until it's time for me to begin my amazing journey! At 8am sharp, we head out the front door.
The first part of my trip is a walk to the bus stop at the end of my street. I live about 3 blocks away from the bus stop, so it takes us around 5-7 minutes to get there, depending on how slow I'm walking that day. My dad and I will chat about random things along the way like what I have planned in class that day.
Once we get to the bus stop, there are usually 5 or 6 other kids from my neighborhood there waiting too. We goof around a bit while keeping an eye out for the bus to come down the road. The bus driver for my route is Mr. Paul and he's a really nice guy who tells lots of corny jokes.
The bus shows up right around 8:20am and we all pile on through the doors near the front. I always like to get a window seat so I can look outside as we drive along. Sometimes I'll even start my homework on the bus if I have some light assignment due that day.
My bus makes about 8 stops total before we finally arrive at school around 8:45am. It's about a 25 minute bus ride from start to finish. We go through downtown areas with lots of shops and restaurants. We go through neighborhoods with big houses and nice lawns. And then towards the end, the bus drives through park areas with walking trails and playgrounds.
When that yellow bus finally pulls up to the front of Central Middle School, I feel a little sad that my journey is over for the day! It's actually been a pretty fun little adventure. I grab my backpack, wave goodbye to my friends, and head inside for another day of learning and hanging out with my pals.
The best part though is that I'll get to do the whole thing all over again later that afternoon! The bus picks us up from school at 3:30pm and I'm back home by 4pm. I'll walk in through the front door, refresh myself with a snack, and dive into my homework. Maybe I'lleven get to play outside for a while if I get my work done.
So while getting yourself to and from school can seem like a boring old routine, I actually really look forward to the journey each day. The walks, bus rides, and great convos with my friends make it all an adventure! Even those early morning wake up calls from my mom don't seem so bad when I think about my exciting travel plans for the day ahead.
There you have it - the full scoop on Emily's amazing daily routine of how I get myself to school bright and early each morning. The next time you're sleepily climbing onto that bus, just think of all the cool sights and sounds you'll get to experience along the way. Who knows, you might even start looking forward to that morning alarm clock!

My Journey to School
Hi there! My name is Timmy and I'm 10 years old. I'm in 5th grade at Oakwood Elementary School. Today I'm going to tell you all about how I get to school each day. It's a bit of an adventure!
Every morning, my mom's loud voice booms down the hallway "Time to wake up, Timmy! You don't want to be late for school!" Even though I groan and try to pull the covers back over my head, I know I have to get out of my warm, cozy bed. I shuffle into the kitchen where my little sister Chloe is already eating her cereal. My dad is drinking his coffee and reading the newspaper.
"Don't forget your backpack," my mom reminds me as I'm gulping down my orange juice. I run back to my room and double check that I have all my books, notebooks, pencils, and my lunch box packed up. I don't want to forget anything!
Once I have my blue backpack loaded up, I put on my jacket and sneakers. My dad looks at his watch. "Okay guys, time to get a move on if you want to catch the bus!" My sister and I both give our mom and dad a hug goodbye.
The three of us step outside and the cold winter air hits my face, making me shiver. We hurry down the driveway and out to the street corner where a bunch of other kids are waiting with
their parents. I see my best friend Jake and we start chatting about the big math test we have today. I'm a little nervous!
Right at 7:45am, we hear the rumbling of the big yellow school bus coming down the road. It pulls up with a loud hiss of the brakes and the doors swing open. My dad pats me on the back. "Have a great day, Timmy! Study hard!" I wave goodbye and climb up the stairs onto the bus.
The bus is pretty full and loud with all the older kids in the back and younger kids like me and my sister in the front. I spot an empty seat next to Jake and plop down, shrugging off my backpack. Mrs. Henderson, the bus driver, waits patiently while the last few stragglers run onto the bus. Finally, she closes the doors and we're off!
The drive to school takes about 20 minutes. Jake and I talk and play I Spy out the windows to pass the time. Before we know it, the bus is pulling into the big circular driveway in front of Oakwood Elementary. The buses all line up to let the kids off one by one.
Mrs. Henderson opens the doors and we all start filing out, being careful to go one row at a time so we don't cause a huge jam. The brisk air feels refreshing after being cooped up in the
bus. I take a deep breath as my feet hit the pavement and I look up at the big brick building, excited for another day of learning.
My sister Chloe and I say bye to Jake, then join the herd of kids making our way inside the school. We stamp the snow off our boots and hang up our coats and backpacks in our cubbies. The hallways are buzzing with noise as everyone is catching up with their friends. I spot a few of my classmates and we walk together to our homeroom.
The morning goes by in a blur. We have reading group right after the bell rings, where we all take turns reading sections from our latest chapter book out loud. Then it's time for math, my favorite subject! Today we're learning about fractions. My hand shoots up over and over because I just love solving the practice problems on the board.
By the time lunch period rolls around, my stomach is rumbling. I line up in the cafeteria behind Jake and we grab our trays, going through the lunch line. Once we have our pizza, carrots, a cookie and a milk carton, we scout out an empty table to sit at. A bunch of our other friends from class join us and we laugh and talk about the latest video game or movie we're obsessed with.
After lunch, it's time for gym class which is always fun. We get to play dodgeball or run around playing tag in the big gymnasium. I'm one of the fastest runners in my class, so I'm never one of the first ones out!
My last few classes are science, where we get to do cool experiments, and art, where I can unleash my creativity. Before I know it, I hear the final bell ringing, signaling the end of the school day.
My sister and I gather our stuff and head outside to wait for our bus again. This time, the bus ride home seems to take forever because we're both exhausted from concentrating so hard all day. I rest my head against the window and watch the houses and trees go by.
Finally, we pull up to our street and pile off the bus. My dad is there waiting for us with our baby brother in the stroller. We walk back home together, and I can't wait to just plop down on the couch and relax for a little while.
After a snack and a chance to unwind, it's time to start on my homework. Math and reading assignments, spelling words to study, maybe a book report to write. My parents help me as needed until I'm all finished up for the night.
We have dinner as a family, then I take my bath and get my pajamas on. I climb into bed, feeling pleasantly tired from such a busy day. My mom gives me a hug and a kiss on the forehead. "Sleep tight, Timmy. You've got another big day ahead of you tomorrow!"
And that's my typical day and how I get to and from school! Between the bus rides, walking through the hallway, sitting in classes, and playing at recess, I cover a lot of ground. But it's all worth it to spend my days learning and growing. I feel so lucky to have a great school and a family that supports me. Thanks for reading all about my journey! Let me know if you have any other questions.

My Journey to School
Hi there! My name is Emma and I'm in 7th grade. I've been asked to write about how I get to school each day. It's actually a little bit of an adventure!
Every morning, my mom's alarm clock goes off at 6:30am. She comes into my room and gently shakes me awake. "Time to get up for school, Emma!" she says in a soft voice. I groan and
pull my blanket over my head. I'm definitely not a morning person!
After some more coaxing from Mom, I finally roll out of bed around 6:45. I shuffle into the bathroom and splash some cold water on my face to help wake up. Then I brush my teeth and fix my hair into a ponytail. I head back to my room and put on my school uniform - a white blouse, gray skirt, and black shoes.
By 7:15, I'm downstairs in the kitchen. Mom has a bowl of cereal with fruit waiting for me. While I munch away, she packs up my lunch bag with a sandwich, an apple, a granola bar, and a juice box. I try to eat quickly so I have time to double check that I have all my homework and books in my backpack before we leave.
The walk to the bus stop takes about 5 minutes. We live on a quiet residential street lined with big oak trees and lots of squirrels darting around. My friends Ryan and Lily are usually already waiting at the stop when we arrive around 7:35. We chat and joke around while keeping an eye out for the big yellow school bus.
The bus driver, Mr. Franklin, always honks and waves when he sees us. Right at 7:45, the bus pulls up with a loud hiss of the brakes. We climb aboard, and I quickly snag a window seat near
the back. Ryan and Lily plop down next to me as the bus rumbles off toward the school.
The bus ride itself takes around 15 minutes. I gaze out the window and watch the neighborhoods give way to the downtown area. We pass by shops, restaurants, office buildings, and parks. Traffic is usually pretty bad, so we hit a lot of red lights. The bus ride can be bumpy and lurching at times, but I've gotten used to it.
By 8:00, we finally arrive at Watson Middle School. It's a big brick building with long hallways, locker rooms, a gymnasium, computer labs, and lots of classrooms. Ryan, Lily and I hop off the bus and join the mass of students streaming through the front doors.
We only have a few minutes to stop at our lockers and grab books before the first bell rings at 8:10. Then it's off to homeroom with Mrs. Davis. She always has a writing prompt or brain teaser on the board to get our minds going first thing in the morning.
From there, my days are filled with core classes like math, science, English, and history. We also have periods for electives - I'm taking art, Spanish, and computer coding this year. It's a lot
to keep track of with different teachers, different rooms, different books and materials for each subject.
The morning flies by quickly. Around 11:45, my stomach starts growling in anticipation of lunchtime. The cafeteria is a total madhouse with long lines, tons of noise, and way too many smells mixed together. But I enjoy hanging out with Ryan, Lily, and our other friends while we eat. We share jokes and chat about the latest video games, movies, sports teams, or YouTube videos we're into.
After lunch period ends at 12:30, it's just a few more classes before the final bell rings at 3:15pm. I meet back up with Ryan and Lily, and we head outside to wait for the bus line. Sometimes we linger on the playground for a few minutes shooting hoops or just goofing around.
Mr. Franklin's bus is usually one of the last to arrive for pickup around 3:25. I settle into my same window spot, and we begin the journey home. The bus ride in the afternoon is way rowdier with lots of loud voices comparing notes about homework, talking about plans for after school, or just yelling and fooling around after being cooped up all day. I try to focus on the book I'm reading for English class to block out some of the commotion.
At around 3:40pm, the bus drops me off just a couple blocks from my house. I wave goodbye to Ryan and Lily as they stay on to get dropped off at their own stops. My mom is usually just getting home herself from her job at the bank. We spend some time catching up over an after-school snack about how our days went.
Then it's time to settle in for a couple hours of homework. Math worksheets, spelling practice, reading assignments - it never ends! I do my best to power through it, taking breaks when I need to recharge. On nights with a big test or project due the next day, I'll buckle down even more to make sure I'm prepared.
After homework, it's finally time to relax a little. I might shoot some hoops in the driveway, play video games, read for fun, or watch episodes of my favorite shows. We have a pretty strict "no screens" rule after 8:00pm on school nights though.
Dinner is always around 6:30 or 7:00pm, depending on what my parents are making that night. Then it's time to start winding down for bed. I set out my clothes for the next morning, pack my lunch and snacks, and get my backpack organized. By 9:00pm, I'm in the shower getting ready for bed.
I try to be snuggled under my covers with lights out by 9:30. It's an early wake-up call again tomorrow and another journey to
school awaits! Getting a good night's sleep is so important for kids my age. We need lots of rest and energy to be at our best for all our classes and activities.
And that's my typical school day! As you can see, there's a lot that goes into getting to and from Watson Middle School each day. Between the morning wake up routine, the bus rides, classes, homework, and extracurriculars, it makes for a full schedule from dawn till bedtime. But I enjoy the journey and all the variety each day brings. Thanks for reading about my adventures in secondary education! Let me know if you have any other questions.。
