A Japanese startup called SkyDrive Inc. has begun conducting test flights of their prototype(原型)flying car with a human pilot. The company hopes to be able to make a full public demonstration of the vehicle later this summer. The test flights are being conducted at a protected
indoor facility at the company's research flight center outside of Nagoya. There have been a number of previous test flights, but they were all conducted via remote control and no human pilot on board.
According to a report in The Asahi Shimbun,SkyDrive says the car could be ready for a limited retail release as early as 2023,and mass production by 2026.SkyDrive was founded by former engineers from Toyota and they intend their vehicle to be 'the world's smallest flying car'.In 2017,Toyota gave the company an infusion of around $350,000 to help develop flying vehicles. In 2017,the United Arab Emirates announced its ambition to colonize Mars within the next 100 years. But architects are already imagining what a Martian city might look like-and planning to recreate it in the desert outside Dubai.
Mars Science City was originally scheduled to cover 176,000 square meters of desert-the size of more than 30 football fields-and cost approximately 135 million dollars. To create a space for Dubai's Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) to develop the technology needed to colonize Mars, architects Bjarke Ingels Group were asked to design a prototype of a city suitable for sustaining life on Mars-and then adapt it for use in the Emirati desert.
For this unique commission, the architects first had to overcome the immense challenges of creating a design to make the severe environment of Mars habitable. Mars has a thin atmosphere and no global magnetic field,so there's little protection from harmful radiation. Temperature is another problem-the average on Mars is a chilly 63 degrees C. The thin atmosphere also means there's little air pressure,so liquids quickly evaporate into gas; despite freezing temperatures,an unprotected human's blood would boil on Mars. But according to Jonathan Eastwood, director of the Space Lab at Imperial College London, the biggest challenge in terms of a sustained presence on Mars is not the engineering or scientific challenge, but the human and personal one.More researches need to be done to test the effects of isolation on mental and physical health of astronauts.
The MBRSC hopes that,in future, such research could take place in Mars Science City. This is going to be our platform where we can develop the science and the technology that will help us in our future missions to Mars, said Adnan AlRais,Mars 27 Program Manager at MBRSC."We want to come up with a totally new facility that will help the international community.”
32. What information can you get about the Martian city?
A. It is planned to be completed in the next 100 years.
B.It occupies more than 30 football fields of Dubai.
C. It has been put into use in the desert outside Dubai.
D.It serves as a prototype for sustaining life on Mars.
33. Which is not the challenge for living on Mars?
A.A thin atmosphere exposes people to harmful radiation.
B. High temperature makes unprotected human's blood boil.
C.Little air pressure causes liquid to turn into gas quickly.
D.A long period of isolation may affect physical health.
34.What's the attitude of Adnan AIRais towards building MBRSC?
A. Positive
B.objective
C.critical
D.skeptical
35. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A. The research on the effects of living on Mars.
B. A Martian city designed for the desert outside Dubai.
C. The United Arab Emirates' ambition to colonize Mars.
D.The challenges of surviving the inhabitable environment of Mars.

One question has fascinated me my entire adult life: what causes some people to become world-class leaders, performers, and change-makers,while most others remain ordinary? After reading thousands of biographies, academic studies,I've noticed they share a common practice- time management. 36
Stop wasting time on unimportant things
Make a detailed time list of your entire day from the minute you wake up till the time you go to bed.You have to really see what your time is being spent on in order to see where you can cut back and reallocate. Assign the amount of time you spend on each of those activities (including time spent watching TV,on Social Media, and any extracurricular activities)._ 37 Add up the total time, then re-allocate that time to your goal(s).
Cut your time spent on social media
The time you spend scrolling and liking should be limited unless you're using social media to increase your business reach. 38 Cut your time spent on the Internet and redirect to activities
directly related to your goals.
39
It's always easy to list the reasons for not doing something. What should we do about that? For every excuse you give yourself, find an equally compelling reason to push forward.Chances are that you will come up with more reasons to do it than excuses not to.
Make a daily"to do”list
Sometimes you're not going to get to everything on your list. And that's fine. Tomorrow is another day and let what you didn't finish the day before be the first thing you work on the next day. So,keep your daily to-do lists short and focus on the activities that will have the greatest impact. 40 It's important to work hard, but it's also important to work smart. So focus on each day,one day at a time.
A. List the reasons.
B. Don't make excuses.
C. The following tips may help you make good use of time.
D.Doing one thing can have a greater impact than doing five.
E. Focus on daily activities rather than make lists for next month.
F. It is a huge time killer and provides no real substantial benefits.
G.Then start removing any activities that do not add value to your life.

第二节 (满分25分)
I remember the day Dad first brought the heavy accordion(手风琴)home. He gathered my mother and me in the living room and opened the case as if it were a treasure box."Here it is,"he said. “Once you learn to play,it'll stay with you for life. "If my thin smile didn't match his great pleasure,it was because I had prayed for a guitar. For the next two weeks, the accordion was stored in the hall closet. Then one evening,Dad announced that I would start lessons the following week.
Shortly after,my lessons began with Mr. Zelli at the Allegro Accordion School. On my first day, with straps(手风琴皮带)straining my shoulder,I felt clumsy in every way."How did he do?" my father asked when it was over. “Fine for the first lesson.”said Mr. Zelli. Dad glowed with hope. I was ordered to practice half an hour every day,and every day I tried to get out of it. My future seemed to be outside playing ball, not in the house mastering songs I would soon forget, but my parents urged me to practice.
Gradually,to my surprise,I was able to string notes together and coordinate my hands to play simple songs. Often, after supper,my father would reuest a tune or two. As he sat in his easy chair,I would play through Lady of Spa in and Beer Barrel Polka. “Very nice, better than last week,"he'd say.
With the fall recital(演奏会)approaching,I would have to play a solo on a local movie theater's stage.I wanted to skip the whole thing. Emotions boiled over in the car one Sunday afternoon.
“I don't want to play a solo,”I said. “You have to,”replied my father.“Why?"I shouted. “Because you didn't get to play your violin when you were a kid? Why should I have to play this stupid instrument when you never had to play yours?”Dad pulled the car over and pointed at me.
“Because you can bring people joy. You can touch their hearts. That's a gift I won't let you throw away. ”He added softly,“Someday you'll have the chance I never had: you'll play beautiful music for your family. And you wil l understand why you've worked so hard.”
I was speechless. I had rarely heard Dad speak with such feeling about anything, much less the accordion. From then on,I practiced without parents' making me.

续写
The evening of the concert Mom wore glittery earrings and more makeup than I could remember. Dad got out of work early, putting on a suit and tie. They were an hour early, so we sat in the living room chatting nervously. I got the unspoken message that playing this one song was a dream for them. Finally, it was my turn. I walked to the chair stage and put on my performance without mistake. The applause spilled out, with a few hands still clapping after others had stopped. As the years went by, I went to college and the accordion stayed behind in the hall closet next to my father’s violin.
One afternoon several years later when my two children discovered it by accident. When I opened the case, they laughed and said, “P lay it, play it.” Reluctantly, I strapped on the accordion and played some simple songs. Soon the kids were dancing in circles and giggling. Even my wife was laughing and clapping to the beat. My father’s
words came back to me: “Someday you’ll have the chance I never had. Then you’ll understan d.” I finally knew what it meant to work hard and sacrifice for others. Dad had been right all along: the most precious gift is to touch the hearts of those you love.

M: The jazz musicians of the 1920s are responsible for the name. When they played a concert in a city, they called the city an apple. Of course, New York was the biggest city in the country and the best place for a jazz concert. So, the musicians called it the Big Apple.
W: Amazing! New York is such a fascinating place and t even has an interesting nickname, one that it has had for over 80 years.
