三、完形填空(10分)
One day, I heard an American boy say to a Chinese girl student, "You speak very good English." But the girl answered, "No, no. My English is very poor. " The foreigner was quite 36 at the answer. Thinking he had not made himself understood or the girl had not 37 him clearly, he said, "Yes, indeed, you speak very well. " 38 the girl still kept saying, "No." In the end, the American boy could not understand and didn't know what to say.
What's wrong with the girl's answer? She didn't 39 a compliment(恭维) in the same way as the American people do. She should answer, "Thank you" instead of "No". She 40 understood what the American boy had said, but she thought she should be modest. In the west, people will feel proud and 41 when they are praise. So if someone says the 42 you have cooked are very delicious, you should say, "Thank you".
In our country we think being modest is a virtue(美德)and being proud is a bad thing, but in my opinion, being confident does not 43 being proud, so sometimes you should be confident instead of being modest.
44 you are modest and say, "No. I'm afraid I can't do it well.”While working in a western country, the others may think that you really cannot do it. If you often say "No", you will certainly be looked down upon by 45 . When asking for a job, if one says something like "Yes. I can certainly do it" instead of "Let me have a try", he or she will expect to get it. So in the west, you should be brave to show your self-confidence.

四、阅读理解(20分)
A
A tree frog is a frog that spends most of its life in trees. It likes living in very tall trees or other high-growing plants. These frogs do not often descend to the ground, except to mate and spawn(产卵)-some build nests (巢)on leaves and during their adult lives, do not leave the trees at all.
Tree frogs are usually small, as their weight has to be carried by the twigs(小枝、嫩枝)of their homes. They are not easy to find. The back colour of tree frogs is usually bright green, but many tree frogs can change their colours; when resting on barks(树皮)they are usually bright brownish(褐色的)gray. On green leaves, they stay green. On green branches(树枝),they turn brown. Some of them can change from green to gold or blue.
Tree frogs have legs and wide feet. They have sticky(粘性的)pads(掌肉)on the end of their toes. These sticky toe pads kip than from falling from the trees.
Tree frogs can be alt different colours. Their eyes are different colours too. Some have green eyes, some gray. Some frogs' eyes are gold, and some are bright red.
The sounds they make in spring and summer are different too. One frog makes a sound like dog barking. Another frog makes a loud noise like a snore(鼾声).There is even a frog that whistles(口哨)!Isn't it interesting?

Tigers are big and strong. They have very bright eyes. They live in the forests or in the mountains. They live mainly on small animals. But sometimes they eat plants and insects.
They can run fast, but only for a short while. They are good at swimming and climbing.
People can make medicine from their bones and make clothes out of their fur. People often hunt them for their bones or fur. Their number is becoming smaller and smaller these years. There are now about 5, 000 tigers left in the world.
Tigers are now in danger. We should take action to protect them.。
