华南农业大学成人学位考试英语作文My Big Grown-up English Test
Hi there! My name is Lucy and I'm 8 years old. I just took a really important English test for grown-ups at the university and I wanted to tell you all about it!
It all started a few months ago when my mom told me she was going to sign up for the adult degree program at South China Agricultural University. She said she never got to finish her university education when she was younger because she had to start working. But now that I'm a bit older, she wants to go back to school to earn her degree.
I was really excited for her! Getting a university degree is such a big deal. My mom is the hardest worker I know and she deserves all the success in the world. She's been taking classes at night and on the weekends to prepare.
Part of the program requires students to take an English proficiency exam to test their reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities. My mom has been studying English really hard - making flashcards, doing practice tests, listening to language tapes in the car. She even hired a tutor to help her prepare.
I could tell my mom was getting pretty nervous as the exam date got closer. She kept saying things like "I hope I can pass this thing!" and "My English is so rusty!" Whenever I heard her worrying, I would just give her a big hug and tell her not to stress so much.
Finally, the day of the big test arrived! It took place at the university campus. We had to wake up super early to get there on time. When we arrived, there were tons of other grown-ups all looking just as anxious as my mom. I've never seen so many adults carrying No. 2 pencils!
The exam was separated into different sections throughout the day - reading in the morning, writing after lunch, and then listening and speaking in the afternoon. My mom looked at me before going into each section and I just smiled and gave her a thumbs up to say "You've got this!"
During the breaks, I could see my mom out in the hallways looking tired but relieved that each section was over. She told me the reading section had some pretty difficult vocabulary words that she hadn't studied. And for the writing, she had to write a whole essay about environmental protection which wasn't easy. But she pushed through like the super mom that she is!
The last sections were listening and speaking. My mom said those were probably the hardest for her because she doesn't get to practice English conversation very often. For the listening part, they played recordings and asked questions to see how well you understood. Then for the speaking, they asked you opinion questions and you had to respond out loud.
When it was finally all over, my mom looked exhausted but happy. She said she felt pretty good about most of it and was proud of herself for all her hard work preparing. We went out for my mom's favorite dumplings to celebrate her pushing through such a challenging exam.
A couple weeks later, the results arrived in the mail. My mom closed her eyes and took a deep breath before opening the envelope. Then a big smile came across her face - she passed! She did it! I jumped up and down cheering for her accomplishment.
My mom shook her head and told me "Lucy, this exam was so difficult. Much harder than I expected. But I'm really glad I challenged myself and persevered through it. It just proves that you can achieve your goals if you stay dedicated and never give up!"
I was just so proud of my mom. Not only is she juggling work, family responsibilities, and going to school, but she pushed through and passed this huge English exam too! She is working so hard to create more opportunities for herself and provide a good life for our family.
Someday when I'm older, I hope to have that same drive and perseverance that my mom has. Seeing her work so diligently to achieve her goals despite all the obstacles in her way is really inspiring. If I can develop even half of her motivation and willpower, I'll be set for success!
So yeah, that's the story of my mom's big grown-up English test at South China Agricultural University. It was a tough challenge but she overcame it with her typical hard work and determination. I admire my mom so much and I'll never stop cheering her on as she continues her educational journey. You go mom, you total superstar!。
