something to eat.”
“Is the man of the house at home?” they asked. “No, he’s out.” she said. “Then we cannot come in,” they answered.
In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened. “Go and tell them I am home and invite them in!” The woman went out and invited the men in. “We do not go into a house together,” they said. “Why is that?” she asked. His wife disagreed. “My dear, why don’t we invite Success?” Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion, “Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!” “Let us follow our daughter-in-law's advice,” said the husband to his wife. “Go out and invite Love to be our guest.”
The woman went out and asked the three old men, “Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest.”

Do you know that there’s a possibility that you may live forever? You will have computers which are 1,000 times more intelligent than Albert Einstein, one of the smartest scientists ever in the world? Yes! All these may happen in 20 years or more. In the next 20 or 30 years, the world will change much faster than ever before because the change of science and technology will be simply breath-taking.
Computers will take human personalities, as well as the ability to understand words and their meanings when you speak to them. Tomorrow’s computer will be so developed that it can have a face-to-face chat with you like an old friend. In fact, you don’t even have to speak to it. Just like a friend, the computer will also have the ability to understand your thoughts.
However, will computers take over the world? Probably not, for people will also get superhuman abilities. They may never die. “Unless a person is unlucky enough to die early from an accident or a disease, he has a good chance of not dying at all. Genetics (基因学) will make this possible.” says Pearson, a British futurologist as well as a trained physicist.
Recently there have been many reports about discovering the code of the human genome,
which decides many facts of heredity (遗传). This finding will make it possible to repair damage (修复损伤) caused by age and disease, keeping people young forever. Besides, if people suddenly die, it would be possible to recreate them with the help of the genetics.
So we have the reason to believe, with the development of genetic engineering and computer science technology, human beings will have superhuman abilities and the possibility of being young and alive forever. While at the same time, computers will be much more intelligent than we can magine. Then who will control (控制) the world?
27.The writer talks of Albert Einstein to make it clear that ________.
A.Albert Einstein was the smartest
B.computers will be very intelligent
C.computers will be intelligent scientists
D.Albert Einstein couldn’t use computers
28.The second paragraph mainly tells us that computers will ________ in the future.
A.take place of your friends in life B.become the master of the world C.understand us human better D.control your thoughts completely 29.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Computers will control the world soon.B.Tomorrow’s computer will be as smart as Einstein.
C.How people discovered the code of the human genome.D.Science and technology will change the world in the future.
D
From the fall of 2022, primary schools started to have labor education (劳动教育). Every week, students would have at least one class to learn about cooking, raising animals, repairing home appliances (家电) and more. Now, in many primary schools, students have cooking classes. Of course, it has been discussed by teachers and parents. Some think that it is a useful skill for students, while others think it's a waste of time, some even think it's just a show. But do they really understand cooking?
It's been said that good cooking is an art form. The truth is that it's much more than that. When talking about different foods from all around the world, or cultures and histories of dishes,
students are connected to the world and learning history and culture in a new field. When learning cooking, students measure (称量) materials from time to time, or find oil and water don’t usually mix. Students are also learning maths and science in practice.
The importance of failures in making food is as much as successes. Li Mei, 11, was crazy about the yummy cakes made by her father and wanted to make one on her own. But when taking her cake out, she was frustrated (沮丧的) to find that the cake was hard and black at the bottom. Her father told her when he was 13, he tried to make cakes, but wasted boxes of eggs. Then together with her father, Li Mei found out what had gone wrong and succeeded in making one. Li Mei learned in the failure of cooking, and could be braver to face failures.
Apart from the practical skills, cooking builds character. It encourages kids to work with others. It also encourages them to be open to foods they might not have tried. Though being good to our health, carrots were hated by 12-year-old Xiao Lei. But he started to love them after he made a salad with them. By cooking students put down their phones and work together with family members in the kitchen. By cooking, students form the habit of doing labor work. As a part of labor education, cooking is a way to teach kids some vital skills for 21st century, such as creativity, teamwork and so on. If these skills aren't taught to today's students, they might hardly survive (存活) in the future.
30.The first paragraph is to ________.
A.lead in the topic of cooking
B.question the meaning of cooking
C.explain the courses in primary school
D.discuss the problems between teachers and parents
31.The example of Li Mei tells us that ________.
A.cooking can help people avoid failure
B.there is no failure without success
C.failure is as important as success
D.cooking can make people braver
32.What does the underlined word “vital” in the last paragraph mean?
A.Necessary B.Difficult C.Creative D.Simple 33.Which of the following is the best title?
A.Cooking—a Waste of Time B.Cooking—an Art Show C.Cooking—More Than a Skill D.Cooking—a Way to Make a Living
第二部分
本部分共5题,共20分。

四、阅读表达(第34-36题每题2分,第37题4分,共10分)
阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
After school, it’s very difficult for Vishal Singh to make a choice. He knows he should really go on with his homework, but the Internet is so attractive that he can’t really pay much attention to his study.
“Students have always faced distractions (分心) and time-wastes,” writes Matt Richtel in the New York Times. He says that computers are a real challenge (挑战) for students. They need to pay more attention to their learning.
Students say that their parents are worried about the distractions and try to control their computer time. But it is still difficult to manage the time of using computers.
Teachers at Woodside commonly think technology makes students difficult to concentrate (集中精力) in class, but they are divided over whether computer and the Internet are the solutions.
In Richtel’s article, English teacher Marcia Blondel feels disappointed with her students. She isn’t able to get them to read 30 pages of a book for homework. In order to solve this problem, she asks them to take part in a read-aloud of the book in class.
But as some teachers express their worries over students’ digital diets, seeing it as a way, they are trying to use new technology in the classroom to draw the attention of these 21st-century students. The headmaster of Woodside High School, David Reilly, asks teachers to build websites to communicate with students. The students are allowed to use computers, smart phones or other new technology to interact (互动) with their teachers. It’s convenient for them to search for some useful materials that they need before class. With the help of the new technology, the students have more chances to share their ideas with each other and spend less time on video games. So, they pay more attention to their study and they don’t show up with bleary-eyes (睡眼朦胧的) any more. Mr. Reilly also spends a large amount of money building up a multimedia center and introduce new courses like the digital audio recording (数码录像) class.
“We try our best to take back their attention and make them concentrate on their study,”he says. “To a degree, we’re using technology to do it.”
Some schools are looking to use the Internet to encourage students to study. 34.According to Matt Richtel, what’s a real challenge for students?
35.How does Marcia Blondel feel with her students?
36.Why are the teachers trying to use new technology?
37.Can you concentrate on study? What’s your advice to help concentrate on study?
