要去澳大利亚前寻找笔友英语作文
Finding Penpals Before My Big Trip to Australia
Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. I'm really excited because in a few months, my family and I are going on a huge adventure - we're traveling all the way to Australia! It's on the other side of the world from where I live. I can't wait to see the amazing animals like kangaroos and koalas, the beautiful beaches, the Outback desert, and so much more.
But before we go on our trip, my teacher Mrs. Wilson had a great idea. She suggested that our class finds penpals who live in Australia! A penpal is someone you write letters or emails to, to learn about their life and where they're from. Isn't that such a cool idea? I think it will be really fun to make a new friend in the country I'm visiting.
Mrs. Wilson got in touch with a school in Sydney, which is a big city in Australia sort of like New York. The students there are around my age too. We've started writing letters back and forth to get to know each other better before my family's trip. Let me tell you about my new penpal friend Zara!
In her first letter, Zara told me all about herself. She's 11 years old and lives with her mum, dad, and little brother Max
who is 7. Her dad is from Lebanon originally and her mum is Australian. Zara said her family loves to go to the beach on weekends to swim, build sandcastles, and eat fish and chips which is like french fries. That sounds like so much fun! We don't really have beaches near my house.
For sports, Zara plays cricket which is kind of like baseball. She also loves reading books, especially the Harry Potter series which I love too! We've already bonded over our favorite characters and Hogwarts houses. Zara is a Gryffindor like Harry and I'm a Ravenclaw. Her favorite subjects in school are art and English because she's a creative writer. How cool is that?
Zara also sent me some awesome photos and little keepsakes in her letter. There were pictures of her family at the beach, her cheeky dog Banjo, and the famous Sydney Opera House which is one of Australia's most iconic buildings. She included some stickers, a toy kangaroo keychain, and even a bag of Tim Tam cookies to try! My mom let me have one and they're delicious - kind of like crunchy chocolatey penguin bars.
In my letters back to Zara, I've told her all about my life here too. I described my house, my neighborhood, and the things I like to do for fun. I wrote about my younger sister Lily who just turned 8. I told Zara how we love having backyard camping
adventures in our tent on summer nights. I even tucked a few wildflower seeds from our garden into my last letter so Zara can try growing some flowers that are totally new to her.
I asked Zara tons of questions about Sydney and her daily life in Australia. What foods do they eat? What are Australian schools like? Does it really get hot enough there to go to the beach in winter? I have so much more to learn! Zara has been teaching me Australian slang words too. Like instead of saying "Hi, how are you?" they often say "G'day, how you going?" Isn't that funny?
Writing and receiving these letters has been the best. Each time I get a new one from Zara, it makes me even more thrilled for my family's trip. Now that I have this penpal friend, Australia won't seem quite so far away and unknown when we finally go. And who knows, maybe Zara's family can show us around Sydney! We can finally meet in person after becoming friends through our letters.
I'm definitely going to keep writing Zara for a long time, even after we both get back from summer vacation. By then we'll have so many new stories and experiences to share about our summers. I'll tell her all about my trip to Australia, seeing the sights and wildlife up close. And she can tell me what she did for
her summer holidays. We'll always have this penpal bond now that we've learned about each other's worlds.
Mrs. Wilson's penpal project has helped make the world feel a little smaller for me. It's amazing that despite living on opposite sides of the planet, kids like Zara and I can still become friends just by writing letters. We have so much in common, but also lots of differences that make learning about each other fun and interesting. Maybe someday I'll even get to be a penpal with a kid in another cool, faraway country!
I can't wait to give Zara a huge hug when I meet her for the first time in Australia. Having an Aussie penpal has made me love the country even more before even visiting. If you've never had a penpal before, I really think you should try it. You might make a friend you never expected, and learn so many new things about a different place and culture. Just like me and Zara!。
