夜色渐浓，月光如水，洒满庭院。

余与友三人，秉烛夜谈，言及古今之事，议论风生。

一友言：“昔人云，‘读万卷书，行万里路。

’诚哉斯言！吾辈当力学不倦，以广见闻，岂可坐井观天，固步自封？”
余应声曰：“善！然读书之道，亦非易事。

须先定其志，次立其规，再求其实，终达其用。

一友叹曰：“世事无常，人生如梦。

今日欢聚，不知他日何在。

愿吾辈能珍惜当下，不负青春，不负韶华。

余微笑曰：“人生自古谁无死，留取丹心照汗青。

吾辈虽不能长生，然精神不死，足以慰藉平生。

”

As the night deepened and the moonlight poured like water over the courtyard, three friends and I held candles and engaged in an evening discussion. We talked about ancient and modern matters, with lively debates.
A friend said, "The ancients said, 'Read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles.' How true this saying is! We should study tirelessly to broaden our knowledge, not to be confined to a well, or to stagnate."
I responded, "Indeed! However, the path of reading is not easy. One must first determine their purpose, then establish their plan, seek practical knowledge, and finally achieve its application. Another friend asked, "Then, what is the essence of reading?"
After pondering for a moment, I replied, "The essence of reading lies in understanding the principles. Principles are the laws of things. Reading can make people understand the world, comprehend life, and further cultivate oneself to govern the family, the country, and to bring peace to the world. Therefore, reading is not just for seeking knowledge, but for understanding principles."
Upon hearing this, all nodded in agreement. I continued, "Let's talk about today's affairs. The world's great trends are mighty and unstoppable, not to be influenced by the strength of a single person. However, although we cannot reach them, we yearn for them. We should take the world as our responsibility, forge ahead, and not waste our youth."
A friend sighed, "Life is ever-changing, and people's lives are like dreams. Today we are gathered together, but who knows where we will be tomorrow. We should cherish the present, not waste our youth, and not waste our youth."
