①Do you yawn? There are about 20 reasons that scientists think are possible for yawning after research. They do not know exactly why yawning happens, but they do know many facts about yawning.
①We know that everyone yawns in the same way. First you open your mouth slowly. Your mouth stays open for about five seconds. You take in a lot of air and then push it out. Then you quickly close your mouth. We also know that yawning is contagious. When you see someone yawn, you yawn, too.
①Many people say they yawn because they are bored or tired. That might be true. People do often yawn before they sleep and after they wake up. However, we know that people also yawn when they are excited or nervous. Olympic runners, for example, often yawn before a race. Why is that? In 2007, scientists found that a yawn can help a warm brain cool down.
①Some scientists believe that yawning makes you notice things more quickly. When you yawn, you breathe deeply. You also stretch (强化)the muscles(肌肉)in your face, mouth, and neck. Your eardrums stretch, too. Maybe this helps you to be quicker to notice things.
①In some countries, people think yawning is not nice. People put their hands over their
mouths to cover a yawn. In other countries, people think yawning is healthy. They think that opening the mouth very big can let good things in. When they breathe out, they think that bad things go out of the body with the air.
①Scientists do not spend much time studying yawning. That is probably because yawning does not hurt. It is just something we do.
13.What does the underlined word “contagious” in Paragraph 2 mean?

A long heat wave hit Europe last summer. The temperature reached 40①. While both electric fans and air conditioners (空调) can help beat the heat, a comparison between the two has never stopped. 17
In most cases, an electric fan is able to get the job done. 18 Most of them take no time to set up. They can be easily carried around in a room. Electric fans are much cheaper than air conditioners. They also use less electricity. You could leave a fan running for 24 hours and still
use less energy than two hours of air conditioning.
But fans and air conditioners work in quite different ways. An electric fan doesn’t cool the air in your home. It leaves you feeling cooler by moving the air around so that your sweat (汗) dries up faster. 19 In comparison to fans, air conditioners can lower the temperature of the whole room. When you have your air conditioner on, you can feel its effect from wherever you stand.
In short, electric fans can work wonders in summer and they are better for the environment. But tuning on a fan doesn’t make much difference when the temperature is above 35①. 20 You should also use an air conditioner when you are sharing your room with others.
A.Fans have many advantages.
B.Many people have wondered: Which one is more useful?
C.All air conditioners work similarly.
D.That is why you need to stay near a fan while using it.
E.In this situation, you’d better turn on an air conditioner.

A 12-year-old user named Elsa has about 2.7 million fans on Douyin. The girl has shared videos about her dancing studies since last July. One of the videos won her about one million fans, “I feel really glad to share happiness with people by short videos,” said Elsa.
As some videos are about the latest news, a group of users depend on them to get information. To some other users, they have a different purpose. “Because I can’t spend many hours watching a whole video and I’m not a very patient person, I don’t like waiting for a program to end. I prefer to watch short videos of wonderful parts in programs,” said Wang Zhihao.
However, some young Chinese feel bored with some short videos. “Killing time is the main reason for me to watch the short videos, but many are almost the same, so I think it is a waste of time. What’s more, I really don’t like the videos which show strange even dangerous things,” said Wen Nan, another college student.
