人教版新课标高中英语必修2 第二单元(U nit 2 English around the world)
第一课时阅读:The road to modern English
二、教材分析
本单元的话题是“世界英语(English around the world)”主要介绍了英语及其在世界上的发展状况和各种各样带有民族、地域特色的英语等内容。

本课时为这一单元的第一课时,内容包括热身(Warming up),读前(Pre-reading),阅读(Reading),理解(Comprehending),讨论(discussion)四个部分。

阅读部分的文章The road to modern English简要的说明了英语语言的起源,发展变化,形成原因以及它的发展趋势。

通过这篇文章可以让学生了解有关英语的知识。

讨论的主题主要是针对目前越来越多的人学习英语这一现象,说明为什么越来越多的人开始学习英语
三、学情分析
学生英语水平差异大,教学设计要有梯度,由浅入深,注意层次性。

老师在教学过程中可以起一定的示范作用,培养发现问题解决问题的能力,最后让他们切身感受到英语学习的重要性。

四、教学目标(Teaching aims)
1. 知识目标(knowledge aims):
1) Get the students to learn the following useful new words and expression in this
passage.
2) Get the students to learn about English language.
2. 能力目标(ability aims ):
Develop the students’ reading ability and let them learn to use some reading strategies like skimming, scanning, etc.
3. 情感价值观(emotional aims):
Enable the students to learn about English language and know different kinds of English in order to use it communicate with others.

七、教学过程设计
Step 1 Warming up and Lead-in
1.D iscuss how many countries use English as their native language and whether they
speak the same English.
S1: There are many countries speak English like Britain, America, Australia.
S2: I know some India also speak English. And they speak the different English.
T: Yes, you are all right. There are different kinds of English in the world like American English, Canadian English, Indian English, Australian English, etc.
2.D iscuss in groups about the differences between British English and American
English, and give some examples. (展示幻灯片)
S1:I think their spelling is different. Color and colour.
T: Yes, good! Who wants to say?
S2: They are different in pronunciation. Can’t and can’t.
T: Yes, you are right. Anyone else?
S3: They use different words to describe the same thing. Lift and elevator.
T: Yes, all of you are very good. I think the next question must be easy for you.
3.R ead the passage in warming up and then guess which of the following words is
British English and which is America English:(向学生展示幻灯片)

Step2 Pre-reading
1.With your partner, list the countries that use English as an official
language? (Is it possible for you to list them all?)
S1: I can’t list them all because there are too many countries speak English.
S2: I can just list some of them: India, British, America, Australia, New Zealand. 2.Which country do you think has the most English learners?
Ss: China.
T: Yes, China has the most English learners and more and more people learn English now.
But do you think the English you speak today is same as the English in the old times?
Now let’s study the passage together and after that you will know.
Step3 Reading for information
1.Skimming for the main idea. (略读)
T: Find out topic sentences of each paragraph.
S1:Para1. Today, more people speak English as their first, second or foreign language than ever before.
S2:Para 2. Native English speakers can understand each other even if they don’t speak the same kind of English.

The road to modern English
AD450-1150 English was based more on _German.
AD800-1150 English became _less_like German Because those who ruled England spoke first Danish and later French.

century

九、教学反思
本堂课简要介绍了世界英语及英语语言在某些重要方面的差异,使学生感受到英语语言的多文化、多层次、多元性,对英国英语及美国英语的不同有个粗浅的了解。

我感觉容量有点大,所以最后讨论的题目选得也比较容易,也比较符合学生的英语水平。

讨论的结果也很不错,学生都积极的参与其中。

所以注重培养学生的兴趣很重要。

如果难了,就稍微简单化,这样学生不会有太多的负担。

外语课堂教学既是一个掌握外语的认知过程,也是一个激励情意的过程。

如果我们能正确的掌握学生的兴趣性格,抓住弱点,放大他们的长处,这样学生也会努力学。

学生学外语时,会产生一种好奇心,好奇心不断获得满足,从而又产生了求知欲;求知欲不断获得满足,进而树立了自信心;自信心不断增强,自然会学好英语。

因此,教师在外语课堂教学过程中,既要重视掌握语言知识和运用语言能力目标的完成,又要重视情意目标的实现。

当然这不是说一天两天就能成功的,这需要我们当老师的不断探索摸索,才能有成效。

这就要求我们的课堂教学不仅仅是传授基础知识、基本技能的过程,同时也是一个不断培养学生创新精神和实践能力的过程,教师所讲授的知识应该成为培养学生英语能力的“火种”。

也就是说,课堂教学是一个在老师引导下学生主动参与、独立思考、自主发现、不断创新和培养实践能力的过程,让学生由“学会”转变到“会学。
