21.(6分)Student photographer Madeline Morales has had experiences most 15 year-olds have not. At the age of 15, she developed cancer and had to go through chemotherapy(化疗). But today will be a unique kind of experience—something most people will never have. “It makes me feel excited, a little bit nervous,” said Morales, whose photos were on display at a gallery show in Los Angeles. These images reflect her journey while battling cancer.
She tried to look at things with a lot of light, a lot of what draws her to positivity and something that means love or happiness. “I think photograp hy has really helped me a lot to stay positive and be motivated to keep fighting this disease.”
Morales is one of 23 students sharing their experiences with cancer through photos at this gallery. They are graduates of the PABLOVE foundation’s SHUTTERBUGS a dvanced photography class. The foundation aims to improve the lives of children living with the disease through its photography program. It also provides money for underfunded cancer research. Incomes from sales of these prints will go toward cancer research programs.
The PABLOVE program offers classes in eight cities across the United States. “Being in these classes with other people who understand their experience has been really beneficial, and it has really made them feel a lot more comfortable in what they’ve been through,” said Ashley Blakeney, program manager of PABLOVE SHUTTERBUBS. She said the photography classes give students living with cancer a sense of community at a time when they often feel isolated in their experience.
With photography many y oung students gain an identity that is not controlled by cancer. “There’s more to us than just having cancer. We want people to see what we see even if it’s through the lens(镜头).” says Luckman who was diagnosed with cancer when he was 10 years old. “Photog raphy has given me a small chance to actually assist in the world a bit. I’d love to express my story and allow it to hopefully reach other kids so they can understand how to deal with it hopefully.

(8分)It is not only praise or punishment that determines a child's level of confidence. There are some other 22.
important ways we shape our kids — particularly by giving instructions and commands in a negative or positive choice of words. For example, we can say to a child "Don’t run into traffic!"or "Stay on the footpath close to me."In using the latter, you will be helping your kids to think and act positively, and to feel competent in a wide range of situations, because they know what to do, and aren’t scaring themselves about what not to do.
Why does such a small thing make a difference? It is all in the way the human mind works. When we think, we automatically rehearse. For example, if someone offered you a million dollars not to think of a blue monkey for two minutes, you wouldn’t be able to do it. When a child is told "Don't fall off the tree, "he will think of two things: "don’t"and "fall off the tree". That is, he will automatically create the picture of falling off the tree in his mind. A child who is vividly imagining falling off the tree is much more likely to fall off. So it is far better to use "Hold on to the tree carefully."
Clear, positive instructions help kids to understand the right way to do things. Kids do not always know how to be safe, or how to react to the warning of the danger in negative words. So parents should make their commands positive. "Sam, hold on firm to the side of the boat"is much more useful than "Don't you dare to fall out of the boat?"or worse still "How do you think I'll feel if you drown?"The changes are small but difference is obvious.
Children learn how to guide and organize themselves from the way we guide them with our words, so it pays to be
positive.
1、Positive choice of words helps kids to____________.
A.do things carefully B.build up their confidence
C.improve their imagination D.learn in different situation
2、What can we infer from Paragraph 2?
A.A child will act on what is instructed.
B.On e can’t help imagining what is heard.
C.A child will fall off the tree when told not to.
D.One won’t think of a blue monkey when given money.
3、Which of the following commands helps kids to be safe?
A.Fasten your seat belt.
B.Don’t play by the lake.
C.How do you think I’ll feel if you get hurt?
D.Don’t you dare to walk through the red light.
4、The main idea of the passage is that _____________.
A.praise makes kids confident
B.right instructions keep kids safe
C.clear commands make kids different
D.choice of words can make a difference
23.(8分)The extraordinary price paid for the last Leonardo da Vinci’s painting in private hands has resulted in a fevered guess at the buyer —but so far the new owner’s identity is inscrutable.
Christie’s, the auction (拍卖) hous e that sold “Salvator Mundi” in New Y ork on Wednesday, has remained silent about who paid $ 450m for the 500-year-old work — a price that set a world auction record. With the pool of possible buyers limited to billionaires and a very few institutions, some in the art world are trying to narrow it down to a region or nationality.
Thomas Seydoux, an art adviser and former head of Impressionist and Modem Art at Christie’s, suspects that the bidder is “new money”, because the bidding went up in “wild increases” - at one stage jumping from $ 370m to $ 400m. He guessed that the buyer might be a billionaire from Asia, based on current trends in the world of fine art auctions.
Others have suggested a Gulf royal or billionaire — perhaps from Qatar, which has lavishly (大量地) collected art, or Abu Dhabi, which has just opened a branch of the Louvre museum. The Abu Dhabi branch has a Leonardo’s painting, “La belle ferronniere”, on loan from the Louvre in Paris but lacks its own.
“Salvator Mundi” has a troubled history. It was sold for £ 45 at Sotheby’s in London in 1958, when it was thought to 6 a copy, but by 2011 it had been accepted as a work entirely by Leonardo, when it was included in an exhibition at the National Gallery in London. It was then reportedly bought for $ 75m - $ 80m by art adviser Yves Bouvier, who sold it to Russian collector Dmitry Rybolovlev for $ 127.5m.
Mr Rybolovlev said, “Thanks to the professionalism and expertise of Christie’s, the record-breaking sale of Da Vinci’s ‘Salvator Mundi’ has helped bring back some of the value of the collection.”
1、What does the underlined word “inscrutable” mean?
A.available B.unknown
C.uncontroversial D.determined
2、What might Thomas Seydoux’s Asian “new money” be based on?
A.The number of wealthy people in Asia.
B.The trend of wealthy people collecting art.
C.The reasonable way the buyer bid for the painting.
D.The aggressive way the bidder drove up the price.
3、What did Rybolovlev’s words suggest?
A.The sale of the painting reflected its value.
B.He regretted having possessed the painting.
C.The high bid for the painting was ridiculous.
D.Christie’s taught us how to appreciate the painting.
4、Which of the following can be the best title of this passage?
A.Troubled History of “Salvator Mundi”
B.Hunt for New Master of Record-breaking Da Vinci
C.The Most Expensive Painting Ever Sold
D.“Salvator Mundi” Painting’s Buyer to Be Told
24.(8分)Most people know that listening to music when they are feeling down or depressed can encourage their spirits.
However studies have also shown that music, especially certain tones can reduce stress. Music can change brainwave patterns, deepen breathing, and bring on a totally stress-free and more open mindset(心态). Using music to relax when considering a particular problem may not only raise your mood, but also could help you reach that
"a-ha"moment and find a solution.
Music has also been shown not only to make you feel good, but also, to be a great motivator. For example, during
exercise, listening to music can keep you going, or get you to exercise more by helping you to ignore negative feelings of tiredness and focus on the pleasurable feelings you get from being absorbed in the music.
Music is mainly used to record emotion. When we listen to a piece of music we share the artist's feelings on a visceral(本来的)level. That can be sad, and who among us hasn't put on a painful love song to share in the misery after a bad break-up? On the contrary, we can share in the delight of songs of joy and happiness, or any song or piece of music that reminds us of a particular happy time in our past.
So next time you are feeling down, put on Beethoven' s Ode to Joy, I bet you will feel a lot better about whatever it was that was bothering you!
1、We can infer from the first paragraph that music can .
A.benefit you in many ways
B.promote you to find more questions
C.change the patterns of your lifestyle
D.influence your attention to a problem
2、The author wrote the second paragraph mainly to .
A.tell us a story B.make some comments
C.give us an example D.list some facts
3、When we enjoy a piece of sad music, .
A.we'll share the artist's feelings deeply
B.we may recall our miserable past
C.we may be reminded of particular joy
D.we'll show mercy on the artist' s life
4、What's the best title of the text?
A.What music means to a music lover B.Why people love happy music
C.What kind of music is popular D.How music changes your life

First, make more posters to inform the public the damage of graffiti (涂鸦). Besides, punishments, such as a fine, is necessary to tourists with so bad behavior. Also, I think it’s helpfully to put up some boards along the tourist attractions that tourists can leave messages.

第二节书面表达(满分25分)
29、Dear Jack,
I’m very happy to know that you are going to intro duce a Chinese painting in class and I’m writing to help you.
I suggest that you should introduce the one painted by Xu Beihong. Across the painting, we can see several horses running at high speed like missiles across the sky. To emphasize the horses even more, Xu cleverly drew in black ink to show the moving hair on the horse’s mane and tail. The reason why I recommend it to you is that horse is a typical subject of Xu’s works, which represents energy and success in Chinese culture. It is also a favorite of many art lovers all
over the world.
I hope my suggestion can help you. Let me know if you still need help.
Yours,
Li Hua
Dear Jack,
I’m very happy to know that you are going to introduce a Chinese painting in class. As a Chinese folk art lover, I’d like to offer you a hand.
Of the three paintings, I strongly suggest you choose the one painted by Qi Baishi, one of China’s greatest painters. Across the painting, you can see a tiny dragonfly flying towards the bamboo. With its eyes fixed on the bamboo, the tiny insect shows a great interest in the plant.
The reasons why I recommend it to you are as follows. First of all, dragonfly and bamboo are typical of Qi’s works, which, despite its simplicity, shows the harmony of nature. To emphasize the elegance and uprightness of the bamboo, Qi cleverly drew in strong and clear lines with bright color in a creative way. The dragonfly, with its wings spread above the bamboo, is also vividly painted. Another important reason for choosing this painting is that, in Chinese culture, bamboo is a symbol of good virtues and success.
I hope my suggestion can help you. Look forward to your great performance.
Yours,
Li Hua。
