Me: Hi, do you believe in conspiracy theories?
Friend: Yes, I do. I think the government is hiding a lot of things from us.
Me: But don't you think some of these theories are just plain ridiculous? Like the one about the Earth being flat?
Friend: Actually, I do believe the Earth is flat. It makes more sense to me than the idea of a round Earth.
Me: How can you say that? There's so much evidence that the Earth is round.
Friend: Well, I've done my own research and I've found evidence that supports the flat Earth theory.
Me: But what about all the pictures and videos of the Earth from space?
Friend: Those could easily be doctored. You can't believe everything you see on the internet.
Me: I think you're just falling prey to confirmation bias. You're only looking for evidence that supports your belief, and ignoring everything else.
Friend: That may be true, but I still think there's something fishy going on with the Earth being round.
