My Favorite Season is Fall
Fall is definitely my favorite time of the year. There are so many amazing things about this season that make it the best in my opinion. From the cooler temperatures to the beautiful changing colors of the leaves, fall is simply awesome!
One of the top reasons I love fall so much is because of the perfect weather. Summer can be super hot and humid which makes it uncomfortable to play outside for too long. And winter is just too cold and snowy most days to really enjoy being outdoors. But fall has the most ideal temperatures in my opinion. The days are cool and crisp but not freezing. You can wear jackets or hoodies and be perfectly cozy.
Playing outside is so much fun in the fall because you don't overheat or get too cold. My friends and I love going to the park and playing games like soccer, football, or having races. We can run around and around without getting sweaty or feeling drained from the heat. And we never have to worry about snow
or ice either. The weather is just right for outdoor activities and sports in my opinion. We take full advantage of those perfect fall days!
Another thing I absolutely love about fall is all the fun outdoor activities you can do that you can't during other seasons. One of my favorite things is jumping into big piles of freshly raked leaves. My neighbors always rake up huge piles in their front yards, and my friends and I ask for permission to use their leaf piles. Then we take turns seeing who can jump and make the biggest mess! It's so much fun listening to the crunch of the leaves and feeling them scatter everywhere as we launch ourselves in. My parents groan when we come home with leaves everywhere, but it's just such a blast.
Something else I look forward to every fall is going to pumpkin patches and apple orchards. My family makes it a tradition to go to the same pumpkin patch every year about a month before Halloween. We walk through the patch picking out the biggest, brightest pumpkins to carve or decorate at home. I get such a kick out of trying to find weird, funky shaped pumpkins in addition to the traditional round ones. After choosing our pumpkins, we get to go on a hayride around the
whole farm which is so much fun. They also have the best apple cider donuts that I look forward to every fall!
We also always go apple picking in the fall at the same orchard every year. There's nothing quite like picking an apple right off the tree and taking a big crunch into it. The apples are so fresh and crisp. My brother and I have an competition to see who can pick the most, and we always end up getting way too many! But my mom makes the best apple pies, apple crisps, and other treats with them. The whole kitchen smells amazing. It's one of those cozy fall scents I dream about all year long.
Speaking of scents, that's another huge reason why I love fall so much - the amazing smells! Everything just smells different in the best way. The crisp air has that slightly smoky scent since so many people bundle up and light fires in their fireplaces or fire pits in the evenings. I'll never forget the first time I smelled someone burning leaves and how that quintessential fall smell hit me. Walking around neighborhoods in the evenings, you can smell fires burning everywhere. So cozy!
And you can't forget about all the fall baking smells too. Pumpkin pie, apple crisp, warm cinnamon sugar donuts - I swear my mouth waters just thinking about it. Whenever my mom makes these classic fall treats, the entire house smells incredible.
There's nothing quite like coming home from school to the smells of something delicious baking in the oven. Especially when the weather starts getting colder - the oven helps warm up the house and make it feel even cozier and more inviting.
Fall also means it's football season, which I go crazy for! I love watching college football games on Saturdays and NFL games on Sundays with my dad. We make appetizers like chicken wings, nachos, chili, and other fun game day foods. Then we cheer extra loud anytime our favorite teams score a touchdown or make a great play. Going to high school football games under the bright lights on a cool fall evening is so much fun too. Everyone is all bundled up with blankets and thermos full of hot chocolate. The spirit and energy in the stands is amazing.
Probably my favorite part of football though is playing in the backyard with my friends. We'll spend hours outside making up our own games, reviewing the best plays from the latest games we watched, and pretending we're star professional players. When it starts getting darker earlier, we get to play under the lights which makes it feel even more special and exhilarating. There's nothing like some friendly competition between buddies to make the most of the fall season.
I also really love all the fun festivities and holidays that happen in the fall. Of course Halloween is a huge highlight of the season! My friends and I spend weeks working on designing our costumes and dreaming up fun ideas. Then we get to dress up, go trick-or-treating, and show off our costumes at school parties.
I still haven't decided if I want to be a superhero, vampire, or zombie this year. They all sound like so much fun!
And you can't forget about Thanksgiving, which is pretty much the most delicious holiday in my opinion. I look forward to the huge turkey dinner with all the trimmings like stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and more. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Everyone comes over to our house and we watch football while munching on delicious snacks and pies before the big meal. Then we go around the table saying what we're thankful for. It's such a nice family tradition and the perfect way to cap off the fall season before winter arrives.
With the beautiful changing leaves, fun outdoor activities, amazing scents, football games, holidays, and all the other great parts of fall, it's easily my favorite season of the whole year. I cherish these precious few months every single year when I can jump in leaf piles, go on hayrides, drink hot apple cider, and
make so many fun memories with my family and friends. Bring on fall!

My Favorite Season: Autumn
Autumn is absolutely my favorite time of the year! I look forward to it from the moment the hot summer days start getting shorter. There's just something magical about autumn that makes me super happy and excited.
First off, the weather during autumn is pretty much perfect in my opinion. It's not too hot and humid like summer, but it's also not freezing cold like winter. The temperatures are usually just right - warm enough to go outside without a heavy coat, but cool enough that you don't get all sweaty from running around. I love being able to wear hoodies and jeans without having to bundle up or strip down too much.
The best part about the autumn weather though has to be the crisp morning air. I don't know what it is exactly, but there's a special cool crispness to the air in the mornings that I've never really felt at any other time of year. Maybe it's because the nights are colder so the morning air feels more refreshing. Whatever the reason, I always take a nice deep breath when I step outside
on those cool autumn mornings. It smells amazing and really wakes me up!
Speaking of smells, autumn also has some of the most delicious food and drink aromas. My mouth waters just thinking about the scents of freshly baked pies, hot apple cider, roasted turkey, and pumpkin spice everything! My birthday is in October, so I always associate the smells of cinnamon, nutmeg, and other warm spices with my birthday parties growing up. Even today, I can't resist things like pumpkin pie, spiced cider, or anything else that smells like autumn.
Another reason I adore autumn so much is because of all the gorgeous colors that emerge during this season. Everywhere I look, I see bright reds, oranges, yellows, and browns taking over the landscapes. The leaves on the trees transform into an amazing rainbow of warm, cozy hues. My favorite is when the leaves first start changing colors - the trees look like somebody took a giant paint palette and just splashed it all over them with strokes of crimson, amber, gold, and brown. So pretty!
Playing in the piles of fallen leaves is one of my most cherished autumn traditions from when I was a kid. My friends and I would spend hours raking up giant piles of leaves in our yards, only to joyfully jump and burrow into them, sending the
leaves soaring through the air again. We had so much fun making "leaf angels" and trying to bury each other under towers of leaves. Getting covered in those crispy, earthy-smelling leaves was heavenly. Now that I'm older, I still can't resist kicking my way through a crunchy leaf pile whenever I get the chance!
Autumn also means Halloween, which is hands-down the most fun holiday in my opinion. I love dreaming up and assembling the perfect costume, whether it's scary, funny, creative, or whatever I'm feeling that year. And of course, who doesn't love stocking up on way too much candy?! Halloween was always a big deal in my neighborhood growing up, with huge numbers of kids roaming the streets in their creative costumes comparing loot and shrieking delightedly at any spooky decorations. These days, I get more of a kick out of decorating my own home for Halloween and passing out candy to the little trick-or-treaters. Their excited faces and adorable costumes really capture the magic and joy of the holiday for me.
Another thing I associate with autumn is the start of a new school year. Although summer vacation was always a blast, there was an undeniable sense of energy, optimism, and possibility that came with the start of each new school year in autumn. It was a fresh start and a chance to set new goals. I really enjoyed
picking out new school supplies, like colorful notebooks and pencils, and trying to envision how the new year would unfold. Even now that I'm older, autumn still puts me in a motivated mindset to take on new goals and make positive changes.
Then of course, there's all the fun autumn activities and traditions many families look forward to. Hayrides, corn mazes, pumpkin carving, bonfires, tailgating at football games, Thanksgiving feasts, and so much more! My family would always make an annual trip to the local pumpkin patch, where we'd wander through the fields scoping out the perfect pumpkins to carve up later. We'd cap off the day with hot cider and roasting pumpkin seeds fresh from the carved pumpkins. So many cherished memories revolve around our yearly autumn rituals like these.
With the change of seasons, I think people have a tendency to get a little more introspective and thankful too. The summer's heat and constant activity gives way to a temporary slowing down and appreciation for life's simple joys. At least that's how I often feel in autumn - extra grateful for my health, my loved ones, the beauty of the natural world, and all of life's little blessings both big and small. The shorter days and coziness of
curling up inside makes me pause more frequently to just be present and content in the moment.
In many ways, autumn feels like a bridge between the lively, vibrant energy of summer and the stillness, introspection, and renewal of winter. It's a transition period where we start to let go of the past and prepare for the future, while being fully grounded in the delightful present season. The sights, smells, tastes, and experiences of autumn never fail to fill me with a sense of warmth, comfort, and childlike wonder all over again each year.
So while every season has its own unique beauty and pleasures, autumn will always reign supreme as my personal favorite by far. From the amazing fall foliage to the delicious flavors, fun traditions, crisp air, and feeling of fresh starts, autumn is simply the most wonderful time of the year in my book. I'll never stop looking forward to greeting those first signs of autumn with pure joy and excitement!

My Favorite Season: Autumn
Autumn is my absolute favorite season of the year! There are so many amazing things that happen during this time, and I
always look forward to it. From the beautiful changing colors of the leaves to the delicious treats and fun activities, autumn is truly the best.
One of the main reasons I love autumn so much is because of the gorgeous foliage. As the weather starts to get cooler, the leaves on the trees begin to change from their usual green color to vibrant shades of red, orange, yellow, and brown. It's like nature has painted a masterpiece right before our eyes! I love walking through the neighborhood or going to the park and seeing all the different colors. It's so pretty and makes me feel happy inside.
Another thing I really enjoy about autumn is the food. There are so many yummy treats that are associated with this season. Of course, who doesn't love pumpkin pie? It's one of my all-time favorites, and I look forward to having it every year. But there are also other delicious foods like caramel apples, apple cider donuts, and hot chocolate. Mmm, just thinking about them makes my mouth water!
Speaking of apples, one of the best parts of autumn is going apple picking. My family and I make a tradition of it every year. We go to a local orchard and spend the day walking through the rows of trees, picking the ripe, juicy apples right off the branches.
It's so much fun, and we always come home with bags and bags of apples. Then, we use them to make all sorts of goodies like apple pie, apple sauce, and apple crisps. Yum!
Of course, autumn also means it's time for Halloween! This is one of my favorite holidays because you get to dress up in a cool costume and go trick-or-treating for candy. I always have a hard time deciding what I want to be each year because there are so many great options. One year, I was a superhero. Another year, I was a princess. This year, I'm thinking of being a zombie or a vampire. I can't wait to go door-to-door and fill up my bag with all kinds of sweet treats!
Another thing I love about autumn is the weather. It's not too hot and it's not too cold – it's just perfect! The days are still warm enough to play outside, but the nights are cool and crisp. It's the ideal temperature for going on hikes, having bonfires, and roasting marshmallows. I love bundling up in a cozy sweater and sipping on some hot apple cider while sitting around the fire pit with my family.
Autumn is also a great time for sports and other outdoor activities. For example, my friends and I love playing football and going on scavenger hunts in the fallen leaves. There's nothing quite like running and jumping into a big pile of crunchy leaves!
It's so much fun. We also like going on nature walks and looking for cool things like pinecones, acorns, and colorful leaves to collect.
At school, we always have special autumn-themed projects and activities too. In art class, we get to make leaf rubbings and paint pictures of pumpkins, scarecrows, and other fall symbols. In science, we learn about the changing seasons, why leaves change color, and how animals prepare for winter. We even get to go on a field trip to a pumpkin patch or apple orchard, which is always exciting.
Overall, there are just so many wonderful things about the autumn season that make it my favorite time of year. From the beautiful scenery and delicious food to the fun activities and exciting holidays, autumn has something for everyone to enjoy. I cherish all the special memories I make during this season, and I can't wait for it to come around again next year!。
