The Earth Poet is a famous work by Jesse Stuart. This remarkable short novel described a great father who loved the land and everything on it. Referring to the content of this short novel, we can comprehend it from three parts.
To begin with, the author comes straight to the point that telling us what a person his father is. The author definite his father as a earth poem, and the author have learned to love what his father aspire to. Then, the following part guide us to a wonderful and magical world. It records each unforgettable thing which refers to the author’s experiences in the nature with his father. Such as visiting the corn land, looking at the pumpkin, observing the red birds, and enjoying the wild flowers. All of these are the most precious memories to both the author and his father. In the course of discovering natural beauty, they not only have gained the enjoyment of beauty, but also have formed a optimistic attitude towards life. In addition, the last part of this short novel mainly talked about the author’s comment on his father and expressed his deep affection to his father and the author also explain the main idea of this passage to readers. It makes us understand the title more clearly. The author said that his father could not write down the words to express his thoughts, he had no common symbols by which to share his wealth. He was a poet who lived his life upon this earth and never left a line of poetry__except to those of us who lived with him.
Throughout the whole passage, what impressed me most is that the father have given the author so much “the first time”in
all his life. It is the first time that his father took him to visit land. It is the first time that someone told the author that a black snake is beautiful. For having a great father, I think the author is so luck.
I have read some filled love from a father in this short story. Surely,each of us should be proud of our father. Maybe he is not as poetic as a earth poet, but he must be the person who always loves us as the author’s father. In the passage, even some simple words can arouse my profound resonance. “my father was the one to make me see the beauty. Many people thought my father as a one-horse farmer who never got much out of life. No one really knew him ever felt sorry for my father,any feeling of pity turned to envy. For my father had a world of his own, larger and richer than the vast earth tha t world travelers know”, the author said. His father just like a magician and made a different world to the author’s childhood.
In short, I really have benefited a lot from a great father or a great poet. And I have remembered that whenever or wherever we are, we should try to find the beauty of our life. Then, a more simpler life are waiting for us!。
