The Forbidden City, also known as the Imperial Palace, is located in the heart of Beijing, China. It was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty and is now a museum. The Forbidden City is a symbol of ancient Chinese architecture and culture, and it is one of the most important cultural heritage sites in the world. It is a vast complex with 980 surviving
buildings and covers 180 acres. The architecture of the Forbidden City is a perfect example of traditional Chinese palatial architecture, and the intricate designs and decorations are truly breathtaking. When I visited the Forbidden City, I was amazed by the grandeur and beauty of the buildings, as well as the rich history and culture it represents.
The Great Wall of China is another iconic symbol of China. It is a series of fortifications made of stone,
brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials, generally built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China to protect the Chinese states and empires against the raids and invasions of the various nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steppe. The most famous section of the Great Wall is near Beijing, and it is a must-see for anyone visiting China. When I hiked along the Great Wall, I was in awe of the sheer magnitude of the structure and the breathtaking views it offered. It was a surreal experience to walk along a historical monument that has stood the test of time and has so much significance in Chinese history.
