My Favorite Time of the Week: P.E. Class
Physical Education, or P.E. as we call it, is hands down my favorite class of the week. It's the time when we get to be active, have fun, and forget about sitting at our desks for a while. I always look forward to P.E. days because they're a chance to run around, play games, and just be a kid.
Our school has a pretty cool P.E. program. We have a big gymnasium with all sorts of equipment like basketballs, volleyballs, dodgeballs, and even climbing ropes. Outside, there's a huge field where we play sports like soccer, football, and even do track and field events. I love going outside for P.E. when the weather is nice – there's nothing better than feeling the sun on your face as you're running around.
One of my favorite parts of P.E. is getting to try out different sports and activities. Sometimes we'll spend a few weeks playing basketball, learning how to dribble, pass, and shoot. Other times, we'll focus on gymnastics and learn how to do cartwheels,
handstands, and even some basic tumbling routines. I really enjoy the variety because it keeps things interesting and helps us develop all sorts of athletic skills.
One of the best parts of P.E. is getting to work as a team with my classmates. We often play games that involve teamwork, like dodgeball, capture the flag, or even relay races. I love the feeling of being part of a team, working together to achieve a common goal. It's also a great way to make new friends and get to know kids who I might not normally hang out with during other classes.
Overall, I absolutely love P.E. class. It's a chance to get up and move around, to try new things, to work as a team, and to just have a great time. Even on the days when we have to run laps or do fitness tests, I still enjoy it because I know it's all part of staying healthy and active. Physical Education: The Highlight of My Week
You know that feeling when the bell rings for PE and your heart leaps with joy? That's how I feel every single time. Physical
education is, hands down, the best part of my week at school. Don't get me wrong, I love learning new things in my other classes too. But there's just something special about PE that makes me want to run through the hallways singing!
First off, it's the only time during the day when we really get to run around and be active. Don't you get tired of sitting at those tiny desks all day? My legs start aching for some movement and fresh air. PE is like a breath of fresh air - literally! We get to go outside to the field or gym and just let loose. No more confinement, no more strict rules about raising your hand. We're free to jump, skip, cartwheel, anything!
Then there's the actual games and activities we get to play. They're always so much fun! Whether it's classics like dodgeball, kickball, or capture the flag, or sometimes even wacky made-up games that Mr. Rodgers creates, I'm always laughing and having a blast. My favorite is probably dodgeball though. There's just something so satisfying about nailing someone with a dodgeball and seeing the look of surprise on their face right before they shuffle off to the sidelines. I try not to aim at my friends...most of the time.
Even when we're not playing games, the warmups and exercises we do are actually kind of fun. Like last week when we
had to skip around the gym while dribbling a basketball. I've never been very coordinated so it was pretty comical watching me fail miserably at that one. But Mr. Rodgers was nice about it and didn't make me feel embarrassed. That's another great thing about PE - the teachers make it a judgement-free zone where you can try new things without worrying about messing up.
If I'm being honest though, what I love most about PE is the chance to blow off steam. Don't you ever feel like you just have so much pent-up energy and nowhere to let it out? School can be pretty stressful with all the homework, tests, drama with friends, you name it. But when I'm running around on the field or playing a heated game of dodgeball, all that stress and tension just melts away. For those blessed 45 minutes, I don't have to think about anything other than having fun. It's like a recess for my mind as well as my body.
Speaking of the body, PE obviously keeps us physically fit and healthy too. Which is so important since we're still growing and developing. I've definitely noticed myself getting stronger and more agile since starting PE a few years ago. Shoot, I remember in 3rd grade I could barely do five push-ups! Now I can pump out twenty like it's nothing. Not to brag or anything...okay, maybe just a little bit of bragging there. But
seriously, I can see and feel myself getting more athletic thanks to all the different exercises we do in PE. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to dunk a basketball by the time I'm in high school!
More importantly though, PE has been really great for my mental health too. You know how tough it can be dealing with all the social pressures and anxiety that comes with being a
pre-teen? PE is like a mini-escape from all that. When I'm on the field or court, I'm not constantly worrying about what others think of me or stressing about grades. I'm just being me and having fun. My confidence gets a nice little boost too every time I score a goal or win a race. It's a reminder that I have talents and strengths beyond just academics.
The social side of PE has been awesome as well. Some of my closest friends are people I've bonded with over scoring the winning run in kickball or being picked for the same dodgeball team. There's just a different kind of camaraderie that comes from sweating and playing alongside one another. And we've all seen each other at our worst - red-faced, out of breath, hair a mess - so there's less judgement or room for fakeness. We push each other to do our best but no one is a jerk if someone underperforms. It's such a positive, supportive environment.
I know that PE sadly tends to get overlooked or underappreciated compared to the "more important" academic classes. But in my opinion, it's just as crucial. Physical education keeps our bodies and minds healthy while teaching us invaluable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and having fun along the way. Those twice-weekly PE classes have seriously become one of the highlights of my entire school experience.
So yeah, you could definitely say I'm a big fan of PE! I'll never be that kid who conveniently "forgets" their gym clothes or tries to get out of participating. Even when we have to run the dreaded mile, as much as I might inwardly complain, I still give it my all. PE is just too important

Physical Education Class: A Fun and Beneficial Experience
As a sixth-grader, one of the classes I look forward to the most is physical education, or P.E. as we call it. It's a time when we get to take a break from sitting at our desks and engage in various fun activities that keep us active and healthy.
Our P.E. class is held twice a week, and each session lasts for about an hour. We have a spacious gymnasium where most of
our indoor activities take place, and there's also a large field outside for outdoor games and sports.
At the beginning of each class, our P.E. teacher, Mr. Johnson, gathers us all together and leads us through a warm-up routine. We do stretches and light exercises to get our muscles ready for the activities ahead. Mr. Johnson always emphasizes the importance of warming up properly to prevent injuries.
Once we're warmed up, the real fun begins! Mr. Johnson has a wide repertoire of games and activities that he rotates through each week. Sometimes we play team sports like basketball, soccer, or volleyball. Other times, we engage in individual activities like gymnastics, track and field events, or even dance routines.
One of my favorite team sports is basketball. I love the thrill of dribbling the ball down the court, passing it to my teammates, and trying to score baskets. Mr. Johnson divides us into teams, and we play mini-games against each other. It's a great way to develop teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking skills.

My Favorite Class: PE!
Physical Education is definitely my favorite class in school. I look forward to it every week because it gives me a chance to get out of the classroom, get some exercise, and play fun games and sports with my friends. PE is way more exciting than just sitting at a desk all day!
Our PE teacher, Mr. Williams, is the coolest. He's a pretty big guy but he's really nice and funny. He always gets us pumped up and energized at the start of class. Sometimes he tells jokes to get us laughing as we're warming up. Other times he blasts music and we get to dance around a bit to get our bodies
moving. The warm-up is my favorite part because it's a chance to get silly and goofy with everyone before the real action starts.
After our warm-up, Mr. Williams goes over the activity or sport we'll be doing that day. Maybe it's running laps around the track, playing basketball or soccer, or doing fitness circuits with exercises like push-ups and jumping jacks. I'm not gonna lie, sometimes the running laps part is kind of brutal. But I know it's good for building my endurance and stamina. The fitness circuits are tough too but I like the variety of different exercises we get to do.
The real fun begins when we start playing games and sports though! Dodgeball is probably my absolute favorite. There's nothing more exhilarating than chucking those foam balls as hard as you can at your friends and trying not to get hit. You have to be quick on your feet and have insane reflexes. Capturing the flag is another blast – having to strategize with your team, sneak into enemy territory, and make a mad dash back to your side if you get the flag. Even basic games like kickball and matball are a riot.
Basketball and soccer are cool too because they require a lot of running, passing, dribbling and shooting skills. I'm decent at basketball but not the best shooter. Soccer is more my thing –
I'm pretty quick and agile so I can dribble and maneuver the ball well. Of course, no sport is 100% fun and games. You inevitably end up with some scratches, bruises or a ball to the face here and there. But that's all just part of the experience!
The other awesome part of PE is getting to play on the different surfaces and fields. In nice weather, we get to go outside and play on the basketball courts, soccer field, running track and baseball diamond. I love being outdoors, breathing the fresh air and feeling the sun on my face. When it's raining or cold, we get to use the indoor gymnasium which has a basketball court, climbing ropes, and even a rock climbing wall! That rock wall is no joke – it's a serious workout trying to pull yourself up to the top.
At the end of every PE class, we have to cool down and stretch. That's probably my least favorite part because I'm just antsy to go hangout with friends or grab a snack by then. But I know it's important to let your body ease back into a resting state after going hard for an hour. Mr. Williams leads us through different stretches and sometimes we even do a bit of yoga and deep breathing. It actually does help me feel more relaxed and limber afterwards.
Overall, PE is 100% my jam. It's the perfect break from sitting in an academic classroom all day. I get to exert energy, be competitive and silly, practice different athletic skills, and just have a great time with my friends. Even when an activity is challenging or I'm exhausted by the end, I still walk away feeling accomplished and refreshed. Nothing beats that endorphin rush you get from physical activity!
I'm so grateful my school values PE and gives us multiple sessions per week. Some schools have cut way back on physical education time which is a real bummer. Exercise is crucial for kids' health, focus, stress relief and confidence. PE helps us learn about teamwork, communication and strategy too. I really hope PE classes continue to be an important part of my life as I get older because it's a great way to stay active, social and balanced. Shout out to Mr. Williams for making it the highlight of my week! Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some dodge balls to throw.

My Favorite Class: P.E.!
Physical Education, or P.E. as we call it, is definitely my favorite class. I look forward to it every week because it's a chance to run around, play games, and just have a ton of fun!
Our P.E. teacher, Coach Roberts, is the best. He's really energetic and always gets us pumped up to participate. At the start of every class, he has us do warm-up exercises like jumping jacks, running in place, and stretches. Then we dive right into the activities for the day.
Some days we play team sports like soccer, basketball, or floor hockey. I love when we do those because I get to be part of a team and work together with my friends to try to win. The competition gets me so excited! Coach Roberts makes sure to mix up the teams each time so it's fair. He's really good at picking team captains and dividing up the players evenly.
Other times we do individual activities and challenges. Like when we ran the timed mile or had Fitness Testing day where we did push-ups, sit-ups, the shuttle run, and flexibility tests. Those days are tough but I feel such a sense of accomplishment when I beat my previous scores. Coach Roberts is always encouraging us to do our personal best.
My all-time favorite P.E. units are probably gymnastics and climbing the rock wall. For gymnastics, we worked on tumbling, balancing, and using different equipment like the parallel bars, balance beam, and mini-trampoline. Climbing the tall rock wall
was terrifying at first, but Coach Roberts gave us lots of tips on techniques and safety. By the end, I felt like a pro climber!
Even simple games we play are a blast, like Capture the Flag, Dodgeball, or my personal favorite, Battleship Health. In that one, we run back and forth trying to"sink" the other team's ships by kicking or throwing balls at them. It's basically dodgeball but with a fun ocean-warfare theme. So imaginative!
The very best part of P.E., though, is just being able to run around and expend some of my never-ending energy. Sitting through all the other classes like math, reading, and science can make me feel cooped up and restless. P.E. allows me to finally be active and work up a sweat. I always leave class feeling happily exhausted.
Coach Roberts says physical activity is not only fun but important for our health and wellbeing. He tells us that exercising helps our bodies stay strong and fights off sickness. It also reduces stress and improves our moods. I can totally see how that's true! Whenever I'm having a tough day, P.E. class always manages to cheer me up and put me in a better mindset.
I really admire how Coach Roberts makes P.E. an exciting, highly-active class while still teaching us useful skills and knowledge. He doesn't just have us run mindless laps or play the
same games over and over. We're constantly being exposed to different sports, activities, and fitness concepts. Coach says he wants to help instill lifelong habits of exercise and healthy living.
That philosophy must be working because pretty much every kid I know loves P.E. class just as much as I do. Even some of the students who aren't as athletically gifted still have fun and participate with smiles. Coach Roberts makes the activities challenging but inclusive for everyone's abilities.
Sometimes kids tease that P.E. is a pointless "extra" class or just an excuse to goof off. But I completely disagree! To me, it's one of the most important classes we take. Sure, we need math, reading, science and those academic basics. But physical health is absolutely essential too. P.E. keeps our bodies and minds healthy while allowing us to burn off energy in a productive way.
I really hope P.E. stays a core part of the curriculum throughout middle school, high school, and beyond. The skills and love of being active that we're developing now will serve us for life. I can't imagine a world without P.E.! It brings me so much joy and is a huge highlight of my day. Every kid deserves to experience that feeling.
So bring on the kickball tournaments, timed mile runs, and rock climbing challenges! I'll keep giving my full effort in P.E.
because it's my favorite class and way to stay fit. Most of all, it's just pure fun! What could be better than that?

Physical Education: My Favorite Class
Physical Education, or P.E. as we call it, is hands down my favorite class in school. It's the one time during the day when we get to run around, play games, and just have a blast! Sure, math and science are important, but P.E. is where the real fun happens.
Our P.E. teacher, Coach Smith, is the coolest. He's always full of energy and comes up with the most exciting activities for us. One day, we'll be playing dodgeball, and the next, we'll be racing around the track or practicing our basketball skills. Coach Smith makes sure that no two days are ever the same, and that keeps things interesting.
I'll never forget the time we had a whole unit on gymnastics.
I was a little nervous at first because I'm not the most coordinated kid, but Coach Smith was so patient and encouraging. He taught us how to do cartwheels, handstands, and even walk on the balance beam! By the end of the unit, I was doing flips like a pro (well, maybe not a pro, but close enough!).
Another highlight was when we learned about different cultures through their traditional sports and games. We played cricket, which is huge in countries like India and Pakistan, and even tried our hand at sepak takraw, a kick volleyball game that originated in Southeast Asia. It was amazing to experience these sports that people around the world enjoy.
One of my favorite things about P.E. is that it's a time when everyone can shine, no matter their strengths. Some of my classmates are incredible athletes, while others, like me, are just out there to have a good time. But Coach Smith makes sure that everyone feels included and valued. He always says that the most important thing is to try our best and have fun.
I'll never forget the time we had a huge tug-of-war competition during our field day. It was an epic battle, with both sides pulling with all their might. In the end, my team emerged victorious, and we celebrated with a giant group hug. Moments like that are what make P.E. so special – it brings us all together, no matter our differences.
I'll always remember the time we had a rock climbing unit. Scaling that wall was one of the most challenging things I've ever done, both physically and mentally. But with Coach Smith's guidance and the support of my classmates, I made it to the top.
That's when I realized that P.E. isn't just about getting exercise –it's about building confidence, perseverance, and a
never-give-up attitude.
As much as I love the games and activities, my favorite part of P.E. is the sense of camaraderie it fosters among my classmates. We might be competitors on the field or court, but at the end of the day, we're all in it together. We high-five each other after a great play, encourage those who are struggling, and celebrate each other's successes. P.E. has taught me the value of teamwork and sportsmanship – lessons that will stick with me long after I've left the gym.
As I look ahead to the next few years of school, I know that P.E. will continue to be my favorite class.
