第二部分阅读理解(满分40分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
21.(6分)After decades of playing catch-up with the U.S. and Russian space programs, China did something neither nation nor any other had done this December: land a spaceship on the dark side of the moon.
Strictly speaking, of course, the moon has no dark side. But because of the way it orbits Earth, our natural satellite shows us only one side -the other is hidden from our view. No one even saw the far side until 1959, when the Soviet Luna 3 spaceship flew around for a look and sent back photos. No astronaut or spaceship went there until this December,
when the China National Space Agency (CNSA) launched a 2,500-poun d lander called Chang’e-4 to the southern end of the lunar far side.
Chang’e-4 operated a small rover (探测车) to survey the geography there for the first time ever. By examining the geography of its landing area, Chang’e-4 could solve longstanding puzzles about the moon, including how it formed 4.5 billion years ago. Chang’e-4 also carried a very small ―lunar biosphere (生态圈) ‖ containing silkworm eggs and a tiny greenhouse designed to grow potatoes in order to study the growth of the seeds on the moon.
Beside s Chang’e-4, China plans to launch Chang’e-5 in 2019. Its mission will be to gather moon rocks using an orbiter, a lander or collector, an ascent stage (上升器) and a capsule that will separate from the orbiter and return the rocks to the earth. ―With these m issions, the Chinese will have shown complete mastery of flight in the space between the earth and the moon,‖ said Paul Spudis, an experienced lunar researcher based in Houston.
CNSA has already outlined ideas for Chinese astronauts to follow the robots to the moon. Pei Zhaoyu, deputy director of CNSA’s Lunar Exploration and Space Program Center, told that China plans a permanent robotic lunar station in about 10 years and suggested a human presence on the moon another decade or so after that. Spudis said
C hina’s ambitious Chang’e-4 and Chang’e-5 missions should send human’s plans for lunar return into rapid development.
1、What do we know about the dark side of the moon from the first two paragraphs?
A.Two western countries have taken its photos.
B.It is hid den from people’s view due to the earth’s orbit.
C.China is the first country to land a spaceship there.
D.It exists because the sun never shines there.
2、Why did Chang’e-4 operate a small rover?
A.To study the geography of the lunar dark side.
B.To grow potatoes on the moon.
C.To examine the growth of eggs and seeds.
D.To survey the lunar biosphere.
3、Which of the following can move apart from the orbiter of Chang’e-5?
A.The lander. B.The collector.
C.The ascent stage. D.The capsule.
4、What is Spudis’s attitude to China’s Chang’e-4 and Chang’e-5 missions?
A.Cautious. B.Disapproving.
C.Ambiguous. D.Favorable.
22.(8分)One evening, author Neil’s son was angry. Neil had said one of those things that parents say, like “isn’t it time you were in bed.” His son looked up at him, angry and said, “I wish I didn’t have a dad! I wish I had … a
goldfish!” That conversation gave birth to Neil’s book, “The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish”. The book is a funny adventure of a son searching for the dad he swapped.
Whether they realize it or not, fathers play an important role in their children’s development. Roland Warren, Director of the National Fatherhood Initiative, says that, “The shape of their dads has a role in the kids’ soul.” I agree. We live in the best of times and the worst of times for fatherhood. We live in the best of times because fathers who are engaged in their child’s life spend more time than fathers of any previous generation. We live in the worst of times because there are still millions of children who continue to miss the regular presence of Dad.
What difference does a dad make? Are they really that important? For the most part, studies have proved clearly that fathers, whether they live with their children or not, matter in the lives of their children. When fathers are present, they provide economic support for their children and caregiving responsibilities. Well-fathered children are shown to be more emotionally intelligent and socially successful as adults. When fathers are absent, their absence may negatively influence children’s academic achievement, general behavioural adjustment and anger management, especially in males.
Yet just being physically present isn’t enough to be a great father. It is important that a dad be warm and
emoti onally available to his child. Author and researcher, John Gottman, describes this kind of father as an “emotion coaching father”. Emotion coaches are parents who listen to their children’s feelings, see the sharing of feelings as an opportunity for intimacy(亲密). It is not just the mere presence of fathers that matters, but how they are present. Most children long for and need a loving, devoted and responsible father.
1、The author introduces his topic by ______.
A.presenting the results of studies B.telling a story
C.making a comparison D.interviewing some experts
2、What does the author mean in Paragraph 2 by saying “We live in the worst of times … ”?

B.Lots of children’s fathers have to wor k every day.
C.Lots of children’s fathers are absent from their lives.
D.Today’s fathers don’t have care giving responsibilities.
3、According to the text, a well-fathered child is more likely to _______.
A.lose control of anger B.obtain high academic achievement
C.have low emotional intelligence D.have good social skills
4、We can learn from the text that an “emotion coaching father” is a father who ______.
A.gives economic support to his child B.shares his child’s emotions
C.tries to change his chi ld’s emotions D.is always available to his child
23.(8分)Many years ago, people relied on the sun, the moon and stars to find their way around. Later, the compass was introduced. And now, we have satnav(卫星导航)systems to guide us. A satnav system uses groups of satellites to show the user’s location. They send information to a receiver, such as a smartphone, to show us where we are.
The earliest built satnav system is the Global Positioning Satellite System, which belongs to the US. Then there is Russia’s Global Navigation Satellite system, the European Union’s Galileo and China’s own satellite navigation system, Beidou.
On October 18, 2017, an ARJ21-700 plane, which was the first domestically(国内地)produced jet equipped with the Beidou navigation system, successfully completed a test flight. The results showed the performance of the system developed by China matches that of similar systems produced abroad, according to the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China.
Since its introduction in 2000, the Beidou navigation system has been increasing numbers of applications linked to everyday life, from shared bikes to farming.
When it comes to shared bikes, smart locks that support Beidou chips offer more accurate positioning than others, making it easier to find a bike.
Farmers can use Beidou-enabled tractors to plow(犁)the soil and use unmanned aircraft with Beidou to sow seeds, which can improve efficiency and make better use of resources. Beidou’s farming applications have spread from Heilongjiang Province to Beijing, Liaoning, Shanxi, Hubei and other regions across China.
With its many uses, the Beidou navigation system is even playing a big role in the Belt and Road Initiative(一带一路). “To date, the Beidou system has covered most parts of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road,” said Yang Changfeng, chief designer of the Beidou system.
Today, there are more than 20 Beidou satellites above our heads, and China plans to launch even more this year to expand the Beidou network to better serve the Belt and Road Initiative.
“As Beidou expands its overseas reach, it will be increasingly popular in the logistics(物流)industry,” said Miao Qianjun, Secretary General of the navigation services as sociation. “Ships, for example, can use it to position themselves while sailing across oceans to European countries, no longer limited to Southeast Asian regions in the near future.
1、What is the purpose of the first two paragraphs?
A.To compare some modern satnav systems.
B.To describe the benefits of satnav systems.
C.To tell us how satnav systems were created.
D.To introduce some satnav systems and their functions.
2、What can we know about the Beidou navigation system according to the article?
A.It was used successfully in a new jet plane.
B.It is more powerful than other satnav systems.
C.It was introduced to China on October, 2017.
D.It wasn’t used in our everyday life until recently.
3、According to the article, the Beidou navigation system is already widely used for _______.
A.plowing the soil and sowing seeds
B.improving the efficiency of network
C.producing more smart locks for shared bikes
D.navigating ships across oceans to European countries
4、What is Miao Qianjun’s attitude toward the future of th e Beidou system?
A.Worried. B.Casual.
C.Positive. D.Doubtful.
